I added R134a to my AC system today. I've owned my 2001 since 2003 and I have never charged it before. It was still blowing cold air before I charged it, but it was just, sorta cold. I have never charged any AC system before and I learned how from a YouTube video. lol It was very simple but it took longer than I though it would before I emptied the 18 oz can. When the compressor kicks on, the pressure would drop to about 28 at its lowest. After emptying the can, it was dropping to around 30. I was surprised the pressure increase was so minimal, something I was concerned with was overcharging. I don't have a way to measure the temp out of the vent, so it's all by feel. lol When I drove it, it felt maybe a little colder, certainly not as cold as I was hoping for; however, it has never blown really cold air since I've owned it. One thing that troubled me after I was finished, was when I drove it, it would blow cold, and at times, not cold. Not warm, but not cold.

18oz is waaaaayyyyyyy too much to add to a system that is somewhat working.

Take it to a shop that can evacuate and properly charge your A/C.
