Yeah that’s what I told him, one or the other. It’s always one or the other.

It is a mower, and IIRC it had the little platform on wheels you stand on so you don't have to walk it. And that's why the operator/kid went in with it

I'm either going to have to look for another USB (I know I've got some somewhere) or figure out a different way to reformat, because that particular format unfortunately wasn't an option when I followed your instructions

Weird. FAT32 is a very common option. It’s classic, like dating back to MSDOS days. FAT16 also.

:notsure: I was using one for the laptops from your old gig.
Like I mentioned before, that USB wouldn't even work at all on my previous laptop. I've probably had that USB well over 5 years and never successfully used it til I plugged it into my phone to download some Toyota splash screen images yesterday

Oh wait, was the USB stick you were using larger than 32GB?

Windows, up to Windows 10 at least, won't format to FAT32 on anything 32GB+

Microsoft lifted that limitation in Windows 11, so ... maybe that's the issue, because the laptop(s?) I shot your way definitely had W10 installed.

We need to go off-roading soon.
    Lots of stuff coming up.
Jeep vs Toyota at Barnwell Mountain (Gilmer, TX) Aug 29-31
Merus (Amarillo, TX) with the other TX best gens Oct 17-19
Hidden Falls (Marble Falls, TX) Thanksgiving Run with my Toyota crew Nov 28-30.

Also, I can't recommend enough how much nicer it is to have a proper re-gear, with 33"+ tires. Just whatever you do, don't let 'TEQ Auto Solutions & Off-Road' in Houston (or any off-road shop) install them! Have em installed by a shop that specializes in differentials. I had to re-re-gear my 06, because TEQ fucked both diffs up. They even "fixed" the front diff after I noticed it was leaking. Eventually the rear diff started leaking too. Both diffs had the backlash set incorrectly, then the leaky (supposed fixed) diffs let in mud and water at Hidden Falls and both started to self destruct, just outside of the warranty time frame.

I took both trucks for their recent regears to Toy Lex in Kemah. Juan pulled the diffs and sent them off to East Coast Gear Supply for the regearing, then he reinstalled em for me. I highly recommend Toy Lex and ECGS.

Had the alignment done this morning after replacing the LBJs. Toe was slightly off and was adjusted. Castor is also positive and they couldn't adjust it, but I seem to recall these trucks prefer extra castor. Our roads are so shitty in town that I honestly can't even tell if the truck tracks straight or not. Have to get out of town to where the nicer roads are to really see how it drives now.

man…stock gears, oversized tires, and towing. Your truck would so benefit from a set of 4:88 gears. You’d get better fuel economy, the transmission would survive longer, and you’d gain back a ton of lost horsepower. Though it’s not preached here nearly enough, but anytime oversized tires are installed, a lower set of ring and pinion gears should be installed. Heck, even the trucks with the stock 3.90 gearing and original stock sized 245/70-16 tires benefit big time by dropping to a 4.10.

Been chasing intermittent AC. I saw people recommend seeing if the grounding bolt on top of the compressor is tight, and mine was not. Unfortunately it didn’t want to tighten anymore
Now I’m chasing a broken bolt and broken AC!

I mean, there’s no rule about where it has to be grounded. You can run a temporary jumper to offer ground and have A/C while you perform extraction on the stub.

Good point! I may do that to confirm if the ac issue is caused by the ground or something else while I’m soaking the broken off bolt. I’m hoping pb blaster and heat will let it go with an extractor

One of the biggest yards the wife and I mow we got because the previous mow man was killed when he got a bit zealous on a hill, zero turn flipped over, and he was crushed under it.

    ****
We went trailerless again. Two yards like that, home for the single axle, then four more yards. One yard is way down in the boondocks, near the bottom of a hill so steep and so curvy, I dropped it down into "2" getting there and getting out. Really I should have put her into "Shift L" for the up and down. Next time, I will! When we leave that yard, the woods are so thick on either side of the driveway, plus those hairpin curves either side, we roll down the windows and listen for oncoming traffic!

Getting better still at backing up a trailer. Oh I can back up fine (side mirrors) but backing into a 90 degree turn, from a single lane road, into a narrow driveway, with cool things to back into like the house, their cars.....fun times. Really do need a backup camera on each of our trailers. :)

    At it again tomorrow!

To that point, if you're not super-familiar with extractions, or you've never tried it, if you can cleanly center-punch (would be easiest with a springloaded punch, which can be had for under $10 on scAmazon) the stub, you may buy some left-hand drill bits, chuck one up that's half the diamter of the shank, and drill it down the center. Remember to run your drill in reverse. Sometimes that alone, the reverse-motion (i.e. lefty-loosey spinning) of the left-hand bit along with the head it generates will spin the snapped shank out. And if not, keep drilling until you're 1mm(ish) from the threads, and throw an extractor on it.

All this mower talk reminds me, I'm going to need to find a mower in the next couple of years for an acre of gently sloping land.

How big a grade are you talking about to need that?

Looking at the topo for the lot we're likely buying, it's a 35-40ft slope over a length of ~425ft (lot is roughly 125x425), so that would be, looking at the numbes it's shy of 10% grade, somewhere in the high 8% - low 9%?

Love a good mower chat. I bought an oldie in spring - a John Deere GT235 on marketplace from a guy a few miles down the road from me. 52" deck badass green machine. Loving it and has been great on the handful of slopes I have around our new property.
