Thanks! It's nice to actually see a leveled truck with that size. I just ordered a set of LT265/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks and wanted to get an idea what it might look like. What are you using to level your truck?

5100's with OME 885 coils, Tacoma upper mounts and SPC control arms, then Icon 1.5 leafs in the rear.

Should be noted that you could probably level with just the 5100's but mine had Monroe Quickstruts on the front. Turns out the springs from those won't fit 5100's so it kind of snowballed. 885's were different than the stock coils so I ended up with more lift than I anticipated so then the Icon's came into play. My quick level turned into about $1000 after everything was done.

Had I realized what it would entail I probably would have just spent the $$ at Toytec and this guy

We've all fallen victim to the mod snowball. I originally was just gonna tint the windows... and upgrade the CD player... then get a little more bass... then needed new tires and thought it would look better if I picked up the front a bit... $5k+ later it's almost what I want.

Changed out 8 spark plugs with the NGK original recommended. The ones pictured here were put in by a service station (look to be NGK Iridiums with the pointy tip). All my ignition coils looked good (had one replaced 2 years ago) except for one picture. It has a rusty color. The spark plug on this one seemed only hand tight. One other was ‘loose’ as well. You can see on the 2 plugs the gunk got around the washers onto the shaft. Not sure if that was the cause for rustiness on ignition coil. Anyone else experience this?

Also squared up the driver side rear leaf springs that splayed. Made my own clamping device to square the leafs as regular c-clamps do not fit into the wheel wells properly. Installed 4 leaf u-joints on the leafs. Painted flat black for finish.

Looks like my #5 coil before I replaced the tube seals. Seems like cylinder 5 is prone to this. @01erionracing had the same issue.

Mine wasn’t as “rusty” as yours though:

Noticed today my suspension is creaking like crazy. I'm guessing after 13 years it's pretty well worn out even though the truck only has 165,000kms on it.

So the research begins on new front and rear suspension. Definitely going to level the truck out when I do this. Toytec's BOSS kit would be ideal but after exchange and shipping I'm well over $3000. That's not in the cards.

Currently eyeballing Bilstien 6112's for the front to bring it up 2.5". Probably Bilstein 5100 in the rear with new leaf springs as well though I don't want to lift the back anymore.

The big debate now is if I need to spring for upper control arms as well. That adds a huge jump in the price though so if I can get away without them by only going up 2.5" vs 2.75" I'd prefer not to have to buy them right now.

$2000 Canadian pesos budget, give or take a couple hundred. Any suggestions?

Yeah this is what I was thinking after you had posted your repair a few weeks ago. Everything seems to be working and the ‘pep’ is better with the newer plugs ESPECIALLY now that they are snugged propper. I’ll live with it as long as its working, but will be saving for and preparing for a head gasket total redo and knock it all out at one time like you did.

Do 5100’s on all 4 corners if you are on budget. Eliminates all the extra cost you laid out above. New lower ball joints. Grease up your bushings and good to go!

Have you considered the OME setup? $890usd and 2.5” lift.

That was what I originally planned but then someone mentioned I should probably go with the 6112's due to my driving style. I'm 80% pavement, but when I'm on gravel roads I tend to drive fast (80km/h - 100km/h or so) and as such now and then hit holes and ruts pretty hard.

I did consider it and I saw it on Toytec's site. However, I can't find a Canadian distributor with reasonable prices.

Modified my front seats by raising the front to back tilt to give more comfortable feel. Loosen the two front seat bolts (remove cover first). Add a few washers under the mounts (effective 1/4” raise). Tighten bolts back down and now its way better. Nestled in feeling.

Well might need to modify your driving habits to fit your budget. Just kidding. The 5100’s should do you good. Better than what you have now. For me anyways.

Yeah, as I get older (30 next year...I'm half dead...) and bring more gear on trips I do tend to drive slower. I'm ok with that especially as my priorities change. LOL.

Glad to hear the 5100's will do fine. 5100's, leaf springs and lower ball joints then.

If I go 2.5" instead of the full 2.75" of level, I can get away without upper control arms?

Not sure. I just did the one up setting from stock (1”). No need at that setting for UCA. Levels it a bit more, but still I like a little rake in my ride. Maybe save some money by just adding a single leaf to your current set? Or, a helper spring. I priced out all new springs and its not worth it.

Exactly. Try the junk yard for a single leaf. DIY or pay someone to install. Way better co$t and the same result.

I live 12 hours one way from the border, so when I factor that in plus the exchange rate it's not worth it.

Restored the factory original all weather mats back to glory. Cleaned with a brush with degreaser and let dry. 3 quick coats of ‘Truck Bed Liner’ from big box. The finish and feel is very nice. A flexible and tenacious bond as well.

Yeah. Had those on the 87’ Toy P/U. When I purchased the 02’ I wanted these as they looked very durable. Paid the extra $100 bucks or whatever it was for them. I remember thinking how ‘steep’ that price was then.
