What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Pretty cool gadgets he has. Unfortunately it broke off at an angle with just a bit out of the hole so won’t be able to use what he used.
It’s in there tight too. Haven’t been able to get it to budge at all grabbing the extruded portion.

How you liking the Eibachs? Probably my next set of shocks.

 

I like them a lot, mine are set one notch off the lowest setting, ride quality is pretty good.

 

Using the Eibach springs as well? How much front lift did you get?

 

Yes Eibach springs and struts, I got 3" of lift on the second notch from the bottom.

 

Mine had same. In fact, anytime anything black, rubbery, or greasy would rub against it, it would leave a pencil-like mark. That's because the paint is oxidized, and that porous layer of oxidation will hold onto any contaminants introduced to the body panel.

Wax won't do anything to fix it, but once you take a mild polish to it, in my case Meguair's Ultimate Polish, with any corrective sponge, it'll gently slough off that oxidation layer, and there won't be anything to stick to anymore.

Is that the rope you were using for your steering wheel wrap?

I just put billies and OME coils on my Tacoma last night and the ride is night and day very happy with them.

driver side front caliper is wearing uneven. Kinda want some reman powdercoated calipers. Anyone happy with slotted rotors? They’re not warped, just the driver side is wearing uneven, and it probably a sticky caliper. Newwish master cylinder, no trouble with the booster, just a c-clamp in/out while troubleshooting the mc. These brakes are adequate for me. & i’d prefer to keep 16” wheels, since i expect to use 32” tires.

I had stop tech slotted rotors on my last truck and really liked them. The ones I currently have are still pretty new but once I need to replace them I’ll probably go to slotted stop tech again.
From what I remember the drilled are more prone to warp and there isn’t much point in slotted and drilled.

 

I dont panic brake, so i’d imagine they wont warp, but some of these hills are steep, and i dont wanna scrape dust onto my wheels. In fact, i glaze my pads a bit to make the power brakes a bit more linear to the pedal.

 

Doesn't need to be a panic brake. I've warped at least two (older pair) when doing a mountain pass (without any added weight) and happen to catch a puddle from snow melt.

 

Replaced the fuel filler neck today. A PITA, one stud at the bottom was busted so had to drill it out and put a bolt in it's place. Forgot to take pics.

I put 2883s and OME Nitrocharger shocks on the front of my Tacoma and never liked the ride. Uncomfortably stiff at first, and never got any less stiff. Now that I've got 2883s with Bilsteins on my Tundra and really like the ride, and hearing that you like the ride on your Tacoma with the same setup, it's really confirming that it was the Nitrochargers that caused the harsh ride, not the coils.

 

Threw on the FLF gusset spindles the other day. GX brake conversion and Wilwood manual valve/LSPV delete. Also installed a rear SS brakeline and front extended lines. Deleted the hardline as the fronts came with the banjo bolt conversion.

Slight but definitely noticeable brake feel improvement.....dramatic increase in brake performance. Valve adjusted...Slightly nose dip but confident stopping now.

Found the reason for my front end chunks and vibes....garbage steering rack is shot. Leaking and bushings. Ordered the rebuilt OEM one with poly bushings from FLF.

Sidenote: factory spindles will be blasted and powder coated, then listed for sale. All parts will be included.....Koyo bearings, seals and hubs have 15k miles on them. Spacer and tone rings are OEM. The below pic are the FLF spindles...not the ones that will be sold...lol.

Yeah there was a lot of conflicting information out there when I was trying to figure out my setup. I ended up calling Wheelers and just talking to their tech and he was super knowledgeable and told me the 881’s on my Tacoma would be fantastic for what I use the truck for and he was right.

Also told me wheelers bought out OME and is remaking all their stuff under their own name.
