Usually these trucks tend to be prone to front end vibration unless the tires are balanced perfectly, similar to a road force balance. I’ve been down that road before and it isn’t pretty. Had to have the tech set my runout to 20 lbs instead of the default 40 lbs for a light truck tire.

Maybe it’s not all of them and just a few people like me have the sensitive ones? Dunno.

I do know I’m not alone.

Did the beefy tailgate clips upgrade. Used lots of white lithium grease. Idk if this is the grease of choice but it fixed my issue. Tailgates butter now.

Welp, that won't be rusting any time soon. It's gonna look crazy once that grease starts to yellow though

Started hearing this ‘whah, whah, whah’ noise. Shot some WD-40 on each pulley up front thinking originally it was one of them but the noise persisted. Almost sounds like it’s coming from the rear of the engine near the firewall but as a garage mechanic I’m not sure what it could actually be. Just wanna stay ahead of it if it’s gonna get worse.

Figured out how to turn the aftermarket radio off. This has dogged me ever since someone turned it on!

I think my trailer connector isn't working. Picked up a trailer I bought yesterday and the lights don't work at all.

Welp.. I know y'all have seen me go down this rabbit hole and bitch about these bulbs, but back to the colight style projectors.

For everyone curious about headlight options. Here's everything I've tried:
    • Colight style mini projectors - I started with these right out of the gate and had them installed the day after I took the truck home. Didn't love them, but didn't hate them (Black housings with clear lenses).
    • Ultimate H4 Halogen Upgrade - Don't even waste your time. There was a point in time where this was good, but not for modern standards. (Amazon wire harness paired with Osram Super Bright Premium H4).
    • Hikari LED bulbs - This model had the cups around the LED's. Dog shit. Scatter everywhere. There's a cutoff but only when you're 2ft from a wall.
    • Mini H4 projectors again - TYC CAPA certified housings (all clear housing with clear lens). Even with a bulb on its way out it still outperformed the LED in the reflector housing and the high power halogen. This time a new player has entered the chat. The common failure point on these mini projectors is the reflector housing melts after about a year of use. These do not appear to have the same style reflector and could possibly last longer? They're on order and I'll report back if and when they fail. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285152106895
I've tried every single one of these bulbs with and without the H4 harness. I didn't take pictures because I'm honestly tired of taking these headlights off the truck to do this.

I'm honestly asking a lot for the price point. I'm asking even more because it's behind 50% tint. I'm literally killing myself because I have a wicked astigmatism and can't see shit at night on a good day. I'm being cheap and lazy because I don't want to commit to a retrofit.

    - I've also found that my LED CANBUS decoders were literally robbing power to the bulbs. So if your output seems dim...plug directly to the factory harness and check. This was a very notable difference even when connected to the h4 harness, but when using the h4 harness it did not require the decoder to have proper function of the fog lights/hi beam.
    - I also went ahead and ordered factory style fog light housings so I can use those for on road driving. My main gripe about the colight is the beam pattern is too narrow.

TLDR - If you're going to upgrade the headlights on this truck go straight to the mini projector or do a proper retrofit. Check your canbus decoder for robbed power. If you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough.

You should be able to reach them by steppping up on the bumper and then folding your upper body over the tailgate...

The new window tint was a nice touch and tied it together with the rest. It's time to wrap the hood and roof. That will complete the look.

Is it louder at the back of the engine?

is it louder at the inspection window at bottom of bellhousing?

If not clear, I’m curious about the flexplate/flywheel.

I’d like to see someone install those in our housings to wrap my head around whether the effort is worth it.

I wonder if bypassing the driver/decoders would result in melting the housing faster by overpowering the LED chip? That seems to be what happens - the housing on the backside of the LED chip melts away with time and the wiring burns up.

I think the eBay bulbs you’re looking at are essentially the latest H4 fan version of what Colight is selling. They’re all coming from the same factory in mainland China.

Only one way to find out lol. The main difference is the hi beam and what looks like a revised reflector. I have the original style like this currently installed. https://www.ebay.com/itm/226585844537?ssspo=yr6dq73wsgo&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=dIoy8ZtGQUu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

It’s hard to tell. It sounds the same at sides as it does the rear. I will crawl underneath it this week when I get back home to see if it’s louder down below.

The couple of times people have posted cracked flexplates here, it had a more “rattling/marbles” sort of sound. But thinking about rotating masses in the engine that would make that sound, and that’s the only one that makes sense to me for both sides of the engine, and getting louder at the sides (as yours seems to be). I had in air buds to listen, and it seemed quieter at the front, which made me skeptical it’s a bearing. And your DC doesn’t have a canister, and vacuum should be a more-rapid pulsing, that sounded like a larger rotating mass. But I really dunno.

If it’s interesting, the mega thread does have links to videos of cracked flex plate sounds.

I did just check that thread out. The videos do sound kinda similar but definitely not a match that I can tell. I’m in Canada till tomorrow night so I’ll take a peak Tuesday or Wednesday and see.
I agree now though that it’s doubtful it’s an accessory drive thing but was hoping for a cheap fix. A flex plate won’t be easy or cheap I’m sure.

Moved the XL’s up to the light mount so that means the wife’s getting ditch lights since I have a pair of squadrons laying around.

Another thing to check is the fan. See if there’s any play in it. In case the fan bracket is going out. Make sure the cooling fan isn’t rubbing the radiator shroud. I’d be looking at all rotational masses.

Got a brand you recommend? The Bulldog brand stuff is probably nice but it sure is expensive.
Thinking I may pull the trigger on these lights soon, so just trying to be prepared.
