Ignition health check up looks good. Coils still fresh looking. Down in the tube looks clean. The VC seals had suction and have no ‘rust color’ spill out like pre-VC gasket job. Plug (#1) kinda dirty with a chip off the side with 6k miles on them. Plug felt loose when removing. Put left torque and it gave quick to looseness fast. Re-tightening it had very little margin to tighten down once hand turn bottoming out.

Tackled many connectors this evening and used some electrical grease on them. Got most all connectors in the engine bay and about 4 around the transmission including the two pictured. All prongs look good. The connectors rubber seals have done their job, but I put grease on the metal to metal anyway.

Adjusted the drivers side head lamp up using the phillips screw driver technique. So much easier as it takes seconds vs 10-20 minutes. Glad you guys shared this technique.

Used a couple of tricks today (from when I started working on my first cars) doing the oil change. I do not endorse this first one to anybody, although its never been a problem.

    1) After draining all oil till its dripping out slowly, put the drain plug back on lightly and start the truck for about 5 seconds. Turn off truck and open drain plug and watch about another 1/2 quart of dirty oil you didn’t realize was in there pour out. Your old filter should still be on during this trick. Now remove the old filter (still full) and dispose.

    2) After draining oil completely and installing new filter, pour about a half quart of sacrificial oil in the engine while drain plug is removed and watch that sacrificial pour capture and force out the bottom 1/4” of old oil in the pan. Happens fast!

Couple of shims will take care of business on the frame. You going to change the fuel pump while ‘you’re there’?

I wouldn't turn it over with no oil but it's probably no worse than a cold start.

I just open my fumoto valve, pull the filter, then go goof off for 30 minutes or so.

probably not. if it ever has issues its easy enough for me to replace having a lift at work and all

trucks going on a frame straigthener whenever the shop can get it in. she should be good as new then, I'll cut some plates up and reinforce the rear section of the frame afterwards.

Random question but good timing since you just removed your bed. Do our trucks have body mounts that can wear out? I was telling a coworker about the noises I'm hearing and he said his Tacoma made similar noises which were the old body mounts. He replaced his and the noises went away.

I do 2), but not 1). If I'm changing my oil often enough I figure the little left will dilute w/ the new & the filter.

Easy time to check the charcoal canister assuming the Tundra has it by the tank too.

CEL P1442 secondary air induction. On the back side of the engine is a pump with metal hose's that tap into the exhaust manifold. It's to heat the catalytic converter for emissions purposes. I forget what year Toyota starting putting them in. What I do know is that it's really expensive to fix

Nope. I think all manufacturers have them in 1 shape or another. Federal emissions regulations. I just don't remember what year it started in the Tundra

canister sits right next to the gas tank. also not a huge deal to replace with the bed on. The biggest thing and i will be doing is the shocks. SO easy to remove the top nut now.

Hmmm. How do you bypass it?

Also I wanna do headers in the future and notice the 05-06 headers are more expensive due to air injection. Is this the same thing? Would be cool if I could bypass and run the older headers and save a couple hundred bucks lol

Yeah mine works fine. But I keep hearing mention of em breaking and being crazy expensive to fix and I've heard mention of a bypass a few times. But I haven't really dug into it.
