It's been done. Had to be lifted so much, I can only imagine how long it'll be before his shit falls apart or fails, but it's been done.

I think it looks like ass, but to each his own, I just don't need/want a brodozer/mallcrawler. I know some folks love that nonsense, but if I'm being honest, it seems like it's typically high school boys and adult manbabies who fawn over it. To me, that look screams "I want attention" and/or "I'm insecure", which is a typical quality of both. (Edited to soften the harshness)

    LMMTA => Let's make trucks truck-like again

Not as bad as I thought. The offset on those wheels could be worse for sure.

I run my 5100 with TRD OEM springs on the 4th notch. The ride is probably a little stiffer than on lower clip settings, but it’s not unusually harsh or jarring.

edit: this is not recommended by Bilstein. They recommend the 3rd notch as the highest setting I believe on ACs.

BTW, I am NOT a hardcore off-road guy, and I don’t mind stiffer ride. So I don’t need crazy travel or comfort, I got a really good deal on the wheels and it pushed me to finally get the lift. The lift stays, I want to try to make it work with the wheels because i think they’re pretty cool but if not, i’ll just flip and sell and buy another wheel setup

yea i get that, im a big fan of functional trucks as well, like i said just above this. the wheels brand new are pretty expensive and i got the deal of a lifetime ($700) these are wider than i initially anticipated but i did want something to fill out the wheel well a little to look better

Not trying to bash you here, but even not being an offroad guy why go through the extra hassle if it makes your driving experience miserable or inconvenient? Granted my wheel specs are significantly more aggressive than yours the amount of irreversible work I had to do to get my 305/70's to clear is beyond 99% of people.

I think you might be able to make them work, but probably gonna need some major massaging of the wheel wells and possible some front bumper trimming or shimming.

right, the bumper will be replaced with a higher clearance bumper/winch so i don’t mind cutting that up, but i’d like to do as little as possible to the inner fender/body

That's exactly where all the work needs to be done lol. Not to mention correctly setting up the alignment to access the wheel/tire fitment.

well if it gets to the point of either way too expensive or way too harmful, like i said i’ll just sell the wheels and get something different. as of right now, just safely experimenting..if you would call it that

Gotcha, do any of you guys know a user that cut the fender and it looks good? I keep trying to imagine it but every time it seems like it’ll look pretty tacky and choppy

I did similar, though in the 17" realm. And probably ended up losing over $1,000 in the process of rotating through wheels/tires (new and used). It's cool if you can find deals on stuff at the various marketplaces, but you also never know what you're gonna get. I finally got it "right" on the 3rd set of wheels, although I'm keeping my 2nd set because I'm still not 100% sure I love what's on it now. I may roll back later.

Small criticism, constructive I hope, but you really should run to the store and grab a can of black high heat rattle can paint (black brake caliper paint is ideal). Pop off the rear wheels. Take a wire brush or 120 grit sandpaper and sand down the outside of your drums, then paint them. Give ample time to cure, per the can and do this when the brakes are completely cold. The rusty ass drums (I'm assuming they're aftermarket) are really drawing my eye away from the wheels.

yea that’s definitely on the list, working into cosmetics right now, starting with getting rid of the stock wheels that the guy before me did a shitty job of spray painting. But i’ll definitely get on that, thanks

Literally me. It's a LOT more work than you think especially cutting the bedsides. Build thread in my signature has it all, but I'm not going to post the progress pics. I don't believe you should do it for the following reasons.

    - You don't offroad.
    - irreversible
    - I don't know how steady your hands are lol
    - Your bedsides will flop if you don't have a way to support them once you cut
    - Your wheels aren't aggressive enough to fill the cut
    - I have my intuition you bought the wheels because they were a deal and you're already not 100% committed.
    - You don't have enough adjustability with your suspension to really dial in the ride height up enough to fit, but low enough to not destroy your front end components.

i’d like to clear this up, sorry for the confusion, i DO off-road, when i said not hard core, i mean the mud events and cross county overlanding. i do some smaller scale things like messing around with friends at a mud pit or rock crawling a little whenever i’m further north

I'm not saying you don't, but I think the general consensus is you're not doing anything outside what the average Joe would do.

right, so would u suggest just selling those and getting smaller tires? and is the issue the 33 inch or the 12.5 width primarily?

Great tool to measure and compare specs so you know approximately how a new set would fit. Just remember some tires are larger than others even though they read the same metric size and that's where a lot of people say "so and so fit the exact same wheel and tire size, but mine rubs and theirs didn't." lol

It's both width and height. Do a bit more research on what people are running on here. There's a really good reason why guys aren't running bigger tires.

Oh and off topic question, i’m so sick of my tundra lean, would making the left side suspension components on the 5100 one clip higher be necessarily bad?

I’d say the issue is not the 33” tire or the 12.5 width, it’s the 20” rims. Too much metal, not enough rubber.

The Bilstein 6112 shocks call for raising the drivers side up by 2 notches higher to account for driver side lean. Yet the 5100s dont which is kinda strange. I had mine one notch different which equaled me out on both sides pretty close but by setup is a little different. I now have both shocks at the same notch and im pretty even with a slight driver side lean.
