I think they're usually at least 20-24 inches tall. I could be wrong.

I think it may be the same from the mid 90's on up.

Google Toyota PS vacuum valve. Start around $30-40 and go up from there.

I picked up a few goodies off some used cars today. A couple of recovery shackles, a black chrome exhaust tip from a 4th gen (yeah, that’s right) Taco and another receiver cover.

I was surprised by how much mine had degraded. Was definitely a good idea to swap. Now I want to do all the damn rubber in the engine bay though.

I replaced all the vacuum hoses except for two. No don't at Toyota could help me find the right part # for one and there is one on the charcoal canister they don't make/sell separately. Definitely not a bad idea to start replacing them.

So I was thinking of grabbing some TC weld on spindle gussets. Im pretty sure some of you guys have put these on your trucks as well.

    Couple questions:

They sell a tool to press out the ball joint from the UCA, ill probably make my own. My question is about pressing the ball joint back in. It seems I need to make a tool to press the ball joint back in as well right? Pressing in rather than pressing it out would need different adapters? Unless im thinking about it wrong, havent actually looked at it yet or have any experience pressing these out before.

Also, does an alignment need to be done after this job? I wanna change my outer tie rods soon as well, so might wait so I can do an alignment after both jobs.

Almost done. The bottoms and anything that's not visible from the outside of the truck was mig welded.
Ill spend this morning tig welding the outer tube joints before re-installing them (again).
Installation and removal is a breeze with how the frame doubler locates on all the existing frame features. They kind of hang off the crossmember rivets, and a strategically placed knee will keep them stationary while you get the first bolt started.

If you're not needing to replace the LBJs, just unbolt em from the spindle.
    20240517_113808.jpg
But you can buy a cheap Amazon BJ tool for like $12 I think. Thats what I have. To get them back on, I believe you can just use the bolt and the impact to pop em on.

Advice is to do everything possible while that spindle is out. Tie rods, wheel bearings, hubs, gussets, ball joints or uniballs, check the misalignment spacers on your uniballs, and get it all aligned. If a shops welding it do the cam tab gussets and lock the caster and camber so all your future alignments you can toe and go.

I’ve been replacing exterior molding when available. The rear windows upper trim is NLA, everything else I’ve been able to get.

Had good results restoring where I could not replace. Also, the PO had wind deflectors and removing them left some wear marks, and a mess which lots of cleaners wouldn’t remove. I was prepared to paint them or use something like Solution Finish, but don’t think I will need to.

I experimented with lots of cleaners and scrubbing, buffing, etc. Oddly, what ended up working well was a magic eraser with lacquer thinner:confused: and then an additional round of magic eraser with Good Off adhesive remover. I made sure to tape and protect paint. Also cut the magic eraser into thin strips for accurate application. I think something about the citrus oil in the adhesive remover gave the trim a needed sheen after the harsh cleaner.

I’m still not driving the truck until I get LBJ replaced, so I can’t get pics in the best of light. I did a before and after on a belt molding I replaced simply because it had good light and showed results better.

The new belt molding is not a great OEM fit like I’ve experienced in the past with OEM from Partseouq. These were from Trail Runner Customs, set of all 4 for $120. Not sure if he is just reselling the cheaper amazonn set, but service was good. IIRC, all OEM is still available but was like $800.
