Might be ok if they kept the "wings" that go under the bumper to the frame. Reminds me, I need to fix the driver side one on Elvira. It's been hanging

So when you said you didn't find a vacume leak you missed that?

Explored about 200 miles of dirt road in the AZ/Mexico borderlands today with the family. So glad to have my truck back out of storage (after 9 or 10 months)!

Nice, I've seen a sign like that before. Did a walkabout in a little Toyota RV years back now. Outside Portal, AZ I saw a sign just like it. Only one I've ever seen, since I live closer to the northern border.

Today on the way home from work my check engine light came on! Stopped at an O’Reilly’s and it came up as a P0440. Gas cap was actually loose (not “clicked”) so I’m hoping it’s that.

Edit: it went off about fifty miles after tightening down my gas cap. Whew.

Bet that was an awesome trip. I find myself reminiscing a lot about my younger adventures. We’re traveling full time in our rv at the moment, which is awesome. But it’s just not the same as before kids. I love these kids, though. Id never trade them for getting my freedom back (most days). ;)

Completed the 25 year Tundra refresh. I do it once every quarter century whether she needs it or not. New antenna base, New belt molding, and finished repainting it.

    Looks fantastic! Totally not jealous...

Those 4Runner wheels fit our trucks so well. If I ever upgrade from my factory starfish I'm definitely getting a set of those.

Thanks, The local dealer was blowing out 2015 4runner wheelsets for 500 complete. New tires and rims, they were new take-offs. I bought 4 sets/16 wheels. I but them on my 4runners too.

Can’t do the antiques here in AR if you plan to drive it. It’s only for collector cars.

Yep. I'm just coming to terms with the fact that I'm not so young anymore. :D Still very youngish, but somehow I now have memories of trips I took, things I did, as an adult, that were 10 years ago (the RV trip was 2014). It's crazy. I was in the RV lifestyle for a while, but never fully committed. Too young for that still. Or I guess I'm not in an industry that allows me to do it while I'm still working. But I did quit a job and travel around for the better part of a year, then continued living out of a pull-behind camper every summer for the next 7 years.

Just returning to "normal" life over the last couple years. There are different kinds of freedom.

    Weight reduction, mostly rust.
I looked into that a while back.
MI is (full 25), so "over 25yrs old".
Used to be restricted to car shows/events only, but recently given free use from Memorial day through Labor day. But with the lack of enforcement I see now days I wouldn't hesitate to drive it year round.

I missed an opportunity to register my Fiat as an antique when I got it. They say the same thing, that it's for special use only. I put 3500 miles on it every summer, so I was worried about that being an issue.

I asked around and turns out cops don't care at all. Normal registration is like $150/yr, and it could've been like $35.

The more I've looked into it and thought about it, the more I believe that I will go this route. With the Amp'd hidden mount, I would lose the integrity of the front bumper crash bar. I believe this will provide a safer mounting location. I'm going to find a way to retain the factory metal bumper. Either route, I'd have to cut into it for the fairhead anyway, but mounting it higher up will allow for a fairhead front license plate bracket that will hide any cutting imperfections. Once I get over to HF and mock it all up, I'll do a build post.

Got any tips for making this happen? Mine's actually just loose-ish. From the handful of writeups on here I'm not excited about opening that inner fender cover. Any ways to cheat?

You will need to pull away part of the fender liner, but not all of it. I recommend snipping the clips to pull away part of it, and buying fender liner clips from Amazon, there about $5 a bag, that removes the most frustrating part of the job. The antenna base is a PVC tube in the fender, if this brakes or the bolt at the bottom is missing then the antenna will seem loose. The pvc tube can be repaired in place if broken. The chrome bolt at the base/mast interface was fused and destroyed when I removed it to repaint, so I needed a new base. The Antenna base has been discontinued in the US, but I got a new OEM antenna base from Mexico.

I really want to install a Land Cruiser or Sequoia power antenna in my truck. I get so tired of whacking my antenna repeatedly in parking decks when I go to the doctor, when I park for food, and a billion other times.

I just removed my antenna. Got sick of it hitting stuff and was worried that the car wash would break the base. I never use the radio anyway.

I forgot my phone while running errands this evening and tried to listen to the radio for a change. Nope. Houston radio gets worse every year.
