Wish had a road force balancer. Anyone balance tires at home? Dreaded going in to the shop after cross rotating at home and ending up with front balance vibration.

Warning that maybe should have known already....

Went in for tire balance with newer coated rotors and brought own torque wrench to spec them myself, but didn't expect the tech to whip out a wire wheel on a drill after dismounting the tire and try to remove nonexistent rust ... but successfully remove part of coating from the new rotor's coated hat.

Stopped it before they got to the 2nd one when he said it was to remove the rust, so explained he would be causing it to form..look it's clean because its almost new.

Asked em to make sure and not over torque and they promised to hand tighten then watched em ugg dugga them before whipping out the wrench. Some where tighter than others coming off in the parking lot and back on with care.

They did get the wheels balanced.

Oh well. Guess will be shopping for a wheel balancer next...

Hate to say but that just might be the last of that IPA, Asheville is destroyed. Wifey has people in that area and the level of destruction is really bad

can you crawl under your truck and check the numbers & letters on your calipers? It may help you from buying the wrong pads. Toyota dealers uprated the early trucks with the larger calipers for later trucks back in the day, so yours could have either larger or smaller.

Threw together this quick spare tire setup in preparation for the MERUS meetup in a few weeks. Ultimately this area will be covered/boxed in so this will likely see some revisions as that part of the build materializes.

I was gonna order all new lock cylinders for 290. My problem is that my ignition was replaced so now I have two separate keys, unfortunately my tailgate doesn’t match either key…anyways is it cheaper to do what you’re doing?

Can't you just have a locksmith rekey (re-barrel) the mismatched cylinders to the OEM key?

Everywhere I’ve looked it’s been more expensive to rekey than to just buy new.
Plus buying new I would have two new keys

I used it on the rear doors of my double-cab.
I would reach out to him and ask if you have concerns. He said that some newer models have a different type of door check that lasts longer but is made a bit differently and may not work with his product.

I did the TPMS disable via grounding the pink wire. Happy to have that light turned off.
As soon as I get my new OBD Link MX+ I’ll hopefully diagnose and fix my ABS light and have normal cluster again.

When I was living in Phx and going to tech school, the neighbor I worked for was working on a VW bug and had ducts in the rear windows to direct air at the heads I assume? But supposedly a recess into the tube works better than a scoop.
During the same stint, my cousin was telling me it’s not great to drive without a hood, because the air dam it creates over the engine and not letting the radiator flow air properly

thats a low pressure zone. Interesting to know how that changes the timing or fuel trims.

I would think air rushing past that opening would create suction rather than feeding air in.

Shitbox is now louder? Nothing off when stepping on it. Still boogies.

I just gotta keep an eye on MPG and see if I am actually doing something for the truck or just making the filter dirty faster lolll

It took me under 5 minutes with an OBDlink MX+ dongle, with their free smartphone app, to both FIND and CLEAR TPMS codes for my dead/failed sensor to stop the light from flashing and I didn't even need to replace the sensor. Full info here:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/obd-thread-pids-apps-dashboards.60459/page-10#post-3132384

Expand the comment there to read more. Easy peasy. I've since updated my TPMS sensors to new Denso, $35/wheel. Batteries were dead in one and dying in a 2nd.
