Replace the headliner. Be happy you have an AC, it's much easier to get the headliner out of the cab.

Two ways to do that:

Option 1: Find a junkyard or matching parts truck with a matching AC headliner in good shape. Snag it out of the truck, install in yours, Have sound deadening mat on hand (Noico, Killmat, etc.) so you can sound deaden the roof while in there.

Option 2: Redo yourself. Take a pic of your headliner fabric in good sunlight. Go to any fabric store that sells headliner material (call, ask, they'll tell you), find a close match to your pic. Some only carry beige or grey, ask what colors they have. You'll need about 2yds of fabric. Get a can of 3M Super 77 spray adhesive. Pull your headliner, and strip the old headliner and its foam off. I recommend taking a wire brush to the board to debride it. Cut the fabric to be 6" wider/taller than your headinliner. Spray the back of the headliner fabric with the 77, and spray the fabric side of the headliner with 77, you don't need excessive coverage, too much in one spot and when you press it down into the board later, it may wick up and leave you with a discolored hard spot. Give 5-10 minutes flash time for both before you install. Then (helps to have 2ppl here) lay the headliner fabric in as square as possible (helps to have a hand), and I always found it easier to work from the middle out when laying it down. Two things. 1st, keep your hands clean and free of adhesive! 2nd, work fast, and work smooth, try not to peel back and lay down. Once smooth along the inside, firmly press into any corners, I find a paint roller works great and use your fingers in the corners. This is NOT a fun job. A lot of upholstery shops will do the work for less than $200 and well-matched at that, ask around. If you need to use a wire brush on foam, wear a mask, the fibers of that foam DO NOT feel good in your lungs, trust me. Been there. Done that.

 

Luckily no rust. I'll preface that my floor was swept before I started cleaning. This was the result from just the front.
I also greased my driveshaft and discovered that my carrier bearing needs to be replaced.

I'd also add to that they pair nicely with long tube headers and decent exhaust.
I installed the 12 holes on my 06 way before doing the headers and DD exhaust.
I added em to the 03 a few years later, after doing headers about two years prior.
Am I biased having spent tons of money with DD for two pairs of headers, 16 injectors and an exhaust? I don't think so; others may. But I've spent just as much and more on other shit for this truck. I ain't gotta justify shit to myself or anyone. I love these trucks. They can drain my wallet and I'm good with that. It's all about the smiles per gallon.

The price of long tube headers has doubled or more since I got my JBAs though.

Dude, I wish I could share some super secret tip, and I mean, I can share two, but both are only temporary fixes when the sheer part of the fabric separates from the foam underlay.

If the sheer liner was still attached to the foam backing, you can brush on any number of adhesives and temporarily pin in place until that dries, and you're good as new. From my POV, that just looks like thin fabric. Anything you spray on it will leak thru.

Anyway, if you want to give it a shot...

One, mostly invisible. Get a can of hairspray. spray it between the foam and thin fabric, then pin it in place with thumbtacks, then hit it again with hairspray.

Two, skip the hairspray and just pin it. It's not invisible, but you can use thumbtacks, staples, or similar pin. I've seen people do a biscuit/pillow style pattern so it at least doesn't look ghetto as fuck.

PS - I think I've said this before, but I *hate* doing headliners. Crazy enough, someone was selling a professionally redone one in my area recently, I think they wanted $100. I almost bought it to add to the parts pile, but it was beige, my interior is grey. I DO NOT look forward to when mine ultimately fails. They always do.

Wife picked me up some new (goodwill) jeans a while back. I rarely wear good clothes... always doing dirty work stuff.... but I was like what in the F are these!? Felt like I was wearing stretchy sweats.

I have a spare master tailgater plastic handle w camera. Swapped to metal. Had to mod it to get the lock cylinder to stay put. Still not happy with fitment. Happy with the camera.

I’d pay even more if they actually made it robust. I dropped coin on a brand new cylinder and got it rekeyed to my vin cut Oem key. I did all the wiring and I’m thinking of going 10” floating screen to have a big UI. Just went to be able to lock once in a while.

At this point I may end up just going full flatbed conversion or make it a dump truck or try to build a flatbed camper. Dunno. Shell leaks (have new seals to install some day) and the rubber boot sucks (have glass if I can find a shop to do the fiberglass work or DIY a sandwich) and my bed needs some bodywork and paint anyway. It is nice to sleep in but a really nice setup would move the whole build forward.

I also kinda wonder how doable it might be to convert to people hauler w side seating for 8 and sleeping for 4 if I did some aluminum pod type thing w a cage for roll and 5 point harnesses that fully retract out of the way when camping. Then some entertainment w sceeens and maybe even video games. Make it fully kid friendly and maybe even retracting stairs. Still wouldn’t really be road legal so probably a totally dumb idea.

Note that this particular cover will only work with steering wheels originally wrapped in leather. The urethane wheels will not work. Luckily I had one of each so pulling the wheel wasn't for nothing.

Though a dump truck conversion would be awesome, the tundra is just too lightweight of a truck to really utilize. Sure you could dump a load of grass clippings, but if you got a dump bed, you’re always going to want to load it down heavy with manly things like gravel, dirt, firewood, scrap metal, and chunks of concrete. The frame and suspension really isn’t up to parr to handle that kind of abuse. I installed a hydraulic dump onto my 71 Ford f250 highboy and pretty much anytime i’m hauling a load of something it’s around 2.5 tons…minimum. It’s VERY easy to overload a truck when have a dump bed. you just can’t help it. For instance, the most i’ve had in my truck was 4-3/4 tons!

 

I got my two rear door checks repaired. Finally! I found a sort of local guy in Boise that has been making the parts and selling them on ebay. He was quick and responsive to my questions and shipped out fast.
Works great and now I don't have the door closing on me when trying to put my kid in his car seat.
