I dunno, when someone warns you "who's next?" and you throw your hat in the ring, I feel like you get what you get. FA&FO, "Play with fire", I think it applies here.

I learned that lesson the hard way IRL a couple times in my teens and twenties because I wanted to be the funny guy.

Is the assembly OEM or aftermarket, where did you get it and how is it working now?

I was fortunate enough to not have to make it myself and bought it like this! It's much lighter than my snugtop was and is riveted together with an aluminum frame. I can post detailed pics if anybody is shopping around for fabrication ideas.

It's now on the list to be done when I get back from this work trip. That along with 12 hole injectors and wheel swap to 0 offset wheels so my tires stop rubbing on frame and UCA!

They’ll just rub the front bumper and pinch welds and mud flaps instead. But 0 offset looks dope

At least I can cut and hammer those. Don't want to be cutting my frame! Trying to get method 703's on labor day sale. Anybody know anything about their bead grip? Effective or just marketing?

I just looked my setup up. 16x8 with I believe 4.5” backspacing (not confirmed). I also run 1.25” spacers, so I’m rocking -32 offset apparently . I’m removing the spacers when I get my 285s.

Is that offset on your grey one in your pictures? -32 seems like its barely poking out!!!

Oh that's definitely some poke! What do you think you'll have to do to get the 285s to fit?

How do you know that they won't rub frame or anything?

I've always had trouble understanding BS and offset. It there a way to easily calculate those numbers with spacers?
I currently have 0 offset and 1.25 spacers.
The wheels I want are -10mm offset. Part of me hopes I'll be able to run em with 35x10.5 tires without spacers. But that's probably wishful thinking.
I know my 295/75 tires rub frame without spacers on the 0 offset wheels.

According to Google that's the same as 1.25". So the equivalent to a Spidertrax spacer with 0 offset wheels. Which is exactly what I have.

There are wheel fitment calculators but i havent found one thats accurate because my 275/70/17 rubs on frame and stock uca with stock wheels and the fitment calcs all say that sizing should be fine

I would be curious to know how crazy offset effects performance. like what if we went -90 offset and like 1.0 backspace as an extreme example. when would the strain on parts be too much to where it wouldnt be worth it to push the wheels out that far?

I just saw this last night.

Sounds like you need spacers for sure. My buddy had stock 16's with 285/75 and rubbed the UCAs til I sold em some Spidertrax

Yeah that guy brought up the same point. but what is the difference in wear of parts between 0 offset and -90 offset? thats what id like to know

By the sound of it, the amount of leverage is the difference.

I just got new wheels bearings on my front and am in the process of having the rears done. But I also have 250k miles and abuse my truck off road when ever I get the chance.

An 8” wide wheel with 4.5” backspacing is a zero offset setup per the online calculators. So if I pull my spacers, I’ll be 0 offset.

Depends on wheel width. EDIT: What I mean, at 10" wheel, 0 offset is 5.5 backspace and you're slapping spring. 7" wheel at 0 offset is 4.25 backspace and maybe would look alright?

See the megathread. All the info on wheel offset and backspacing you need is in the wheel and tire section.

You consider the Eaton Elockers? I haven't heard a ton about them, but not as active as I was on cruiser boards :(

I have one in my rear diff. Been installed for like 3 years. No complaints.

I'm not sure if Toyota used Eaton or not for the first gen Tacomas e-locker, but I had two TRD Tacos with the rear e-lockers and loved em.
