Super polished = atomically polished which is typically down to 1 angstrom or 100 picometers.

Pretty impressive. Like Hubble Telescope mirror polished impressive.

I have no idea. Actually, the Hubble Telescope’s space mirror was polish to 1/50 of a human hair which is 1,200,000/50=24,000 angstroms, so better than NASA quality.

Must be why NASA F’d that up.

@455h0le_dachshund its basically put in a tumbler that takes off all the machining in aftermarket gear sets. That also means the oil stays clean and not circulating shavings into new bearings and races. You can also use lower quality oils due to almost no wear to build up heat.

I paid 150 per set to be polished, but I’ve seen socal group buys stating 300 a pop for each set. Hard part is trying to find someone that does it. It is the future of gears for a proper worryfree install.

 

Wonder if a set of gears will fit in staccato's dlc machine...

NGL, that's my personal preference. Writing it down. I hate drafting things on a screen. I mean, maybe you'd never know it looking at half the shit I write on here, it took me a long time to get where I am, have standards for electronic writing. I spent most of my career having to do some level of documentation targeted at more-junior teams or team members, and with that you start to pick up on formatting that works or fails, and how to organize info. But I'm far more organized on a wide open sheet of paper where I can drop words anywhere, box or circle whatever I want, etc.

I totally respect what Zuk has going on. That's awesome. I have a poor amount of direct experience with that stuff, just know some of the basic DOs and DONTs and shit to look out for. Even something like setting lash would probably leave me floundering for a minute or five.

 

Nowadays, I just do markups by hand since my handwriting has gone to shit and it doesn’t take long before my hand hurts doing it.

 

And there i was, letting a Toyota master tech who owns an off-road shop set up mine. Wtf was I thinking?

 

Hmmm... Two tanks of gas was cheaper by about $200 then. I'm happy with my invested time and money.
