Just removing the green covers on my HVAC controls made a ginormous difference. The LEDs almost made things too f’n bright actually. I almost wish I could dial it back a bit. But if I dim the lighting, I can’t see any of the other lighting in the truck that’s still green. It’s quite the dilemma. Wish I had the guts, confidence to sand down the gage cluster, but I’ve already had more than one issue with trying to realign the needles on previous clusters so I don’t even want to go there…

Fair enough. I have had three different ARB lockers. And yes, some of mine have have had teething problems in the past. Enough that i don’t trust them absolutely 100%. It seems like once they’re dialed in, THEN they’re pretty darn reliable. But that means installing the O rings perfectly! Lots of other silly stuff can make them unreliable as well. Such as routing the blue air lines. I ended up using braided stainless steel teflon lines in my CJ7. After that i quit having air leaks.

I also have a brand new Eaton E locker (dana 44) on my shelf. I haven’t gotten around to installing it yet, but there seems to be a lot less that can go wrong with it. As for which carrier is stronger, the ARB or Eaton, i don’t know. But if i ever install one in the back of my tundra, i don’t think either would have problems from a strength standpoint. I don’t plan to ever go over a 33” sized tire.

I just always hear that you're supposed to match the LED color to the desired color that you're trying to make. I do recall the bulbs I pulled out were just regular bulbs no color caps. LEDs just have more centralized light that can lead to washout in some applications. I do agree though that it probably wouldn't be super obvious.

    Weight reduction, mostly rust.
It just looked brighter for me, like the rest of the cluster. I did use a bunch of red T5s on all the red indicators though. Some of those did wash out (look orange).

I used ones from SuperBright, I think around 30 lumens and they're pretty good. The Sylvania LEDs were way too bright in there.

Yup, I used Sylvania. I may pop them back out and film them green again using gels so it’s not so glaringly obvious they’re super bright. “Take the edge off” so to speak.

I agree on the LEDs being almost too bright for the console but it's clean looking. I love the gauge cluster being green which is good since I can't change those in my model anyway lmao.

Yes! It sucks when that happens! O ring can go bad then it will somehow pressurize somthinerather inside the diff, then it will pump gear oil back out through the plastic airline (to wherever the compressor is located). So you end up having have a smelly, oily mess wherever the compressor is mounted.

Sorry for the late replies, but I moved a week after I got those wheels, and then immediately got in over my head on a construction project at the new place.

Well... between lack of time, lack of money, and a desire to DIY (I have a Cricut), this is what I came up with for now at least.

    IMG_3333.jpg

Thanks! As with all of them, it's a work in progress, but I'm getting there. I plan to put a Prinsu cab rack on, which should complement the height and rake of the high-rise camper shell. I love the high rise. Don't care if I look like a old fart (I am getting to be an old fart anyhow) it makes it so much more comfortable to sleep back there, or hang out in the rain / snow / cold. And I'm hoping adding the cab rack knocks a couple years off the "old-fart-ness" factor.

    IMG_3674.jpg
(sorry for the unsolicited dick pic)

Ya the stock horns still work. I haven't decided if I'm going to sell them or not, but let me know if you're interested. Might just let them go for shipping plus $10.

Latest follow-up on the saga of Toyota reman CV axles...

Lakeland Toyota aka 'Toyota Parts Overstock' called me today. "One CV axle arrived instead of two. We called Toyota about it. They told us that's all we get, they're officially discontinuing the part. You want us to ship this single axle and refund the other, or just refund everything?"

Is it true? Who knows. I told them to ship the one they've got and I'll go from there. Bummer. Just missed the window, I guess. Had I not had all those medical issues that kept me from being able to talk, I probably could've gotten the order squared away to get a pair. Guess I'm SOL now unless I can find someone that's not connected to the national parts system and may have these sitting in their warehouse. I'll hafta check with the local stealership by mom & pops house when I'm there for the holidays.

I haven't heard shit so I'm probably SOL. I may just get some CVJs and take the hit on one for no core.

Don't go with CVJ unless you spend the big bucks. Their less expensive axles do not have good reviews. You may even be better off going with NAPA at that price point.

Not the NAPA long travel ones? Someone on here posted up pics of theirs, and the travel was virtually identical to OEM.

Mine are still doing good, didnt have any issues after re-setting the seal again. Still hanging on to OEM to rebuild/use as cores later.

Is y'all's, y'alls?, power window switches backlit? My DC the only light on my door panel is the AUTO on the driver's window switch. I saw some buttons on Aliexpress where all 4 buttons have a small light and thought about getting them.

@JakeJake came by and we sprayed propane to check for vacuum leaks. Sure enough when we went in-between the intake runners on 7 and 8 the engine perked up. @shifty` looks like I blew out my IM gaskets again. And sure as shit it started backfiring and popping for the first time today, just like it did last year. Oh, and I looked back through my pics from last year:

    20211126_162850.jpg

I thought I got fel-pro; I was mistaken. So these are on the do not buy list now too. I ordered up some new OEM gaskets:

    Screenshot_20231222_153837_Gmail.jpg

If they get here before next weekend it'll be my end of year project. This'll be the 4th time I've had my intake off. You know what happens next...

Anywho, me and Jake kinda shot the shit about a sequoia axle sitting at a salvage yard in town. We may end up trying some dumb shit sometime next year. I mean, any time I touch tools dumb shit is happening, but now we can get a welder involved! Thanks for the help Jake! I'll give you a holler when I pull that intake. Hopefully next weekend!
