Over a year ago (while I was still cleaning up the POs stuff) I found this, and did that repair.

I'd get some Griots black, door the door moldings. They'll blend in & you won't want to anymore.

Out of curiosity how hard is it to replace the fan clutch? I’ve been told I’ll need to do it down the line but not immediately. Also how can you tell when it’s time?

I'd recommend removing the shroud and radiator to make room for yourself. After that it's 4 bolts and put the new one on. It'll start making really weird noises when it starts to go, and will feel gritty and lumpy when you turn it by hand.

Pulling it wasn't bad at all, one of the easier things I've done.
The biggest challenge for me was getting my big ass meat fists in there.
If you leave your radiator in, the fan shroud has to come out with the fan/clutch assembly (at the same time).
Disconnect the rad hoses and move them out of the way.
    If its locking up:
Longer to warm up (a bigger deal here in MI)
Excessive noise on acceleration (when engine is warm)
When cold, fan will not free spin or has a lot of resistance.

If its free spinning too much/all the time:
Poor cooling and poor AC performance (notice either in stop and go traffic)
Fan will continue to spin a few revolutions when you shut engine off (warm engine)
Fan spins freely by hand with little resistance (engine warm)

I'm just an armature shade tree driveway wrencher, You boys correct me if I'm wrong on anything.

Good follow up my good sir. When I did mine it was back in 2013 or so, so I don't remember much. I just remember tearing basically the whole front end off to get to it. Good job on getting it off w/o removing the radiator though. That's a tight fit.

Weird thing with the brand new clutch is that it has the same resistance (a lot) spinning it by hand as the old one.
And when cold they should spin more free?, maybe it's just that I can't apply enough ooogadoogas but it doesn't make sense.
Like I imagine this new clutch in there, and trying to spin it, and it's not going to spin very dam far.
I'll know soon enough, tensioner and idler are in the delivery truck heading my way.

Im still on my original fan and clutch at 270k with no discernible symptoms of failure. There, now I’ve jinxed it. I plan to replace at my next TB change anyway which is coming up in 2025 by time, I’ll fall short of the 90k miles by quite a bit. May do the whole shooting match earlier due to the need to replace starter contacts soon.

:facepalm:I forget about that starter location hahaha

I've been trying to determine wtf caused my fan to flex into water inlet/thermostat housing...
One possibility is the clutch was locking up too much/putting pressure on fan blades/contact/explosion.
I also thought maybe the PO put the wrong clutch in there, but it's exactly the same as the new BeckArnley.
And they both seem to have the same (cold) resistance right now.o_O

+1 in favor of the two tone. Worst thing that happens is you waste $100 on vinyl and you peel it back off.

So is that part of the harness supposed run through where I pointed out Shifty?
I swear I might be able to fit the connectors through there, and NOW is the time to do it with the radiator and everything out.
Shit I could even De-pin them and do it if I find some ambition...

Behind the water pump, you can see another zip-tie example here in PHM's build: https://www.tundras.com/threads/the-professional-hand-model-reinvestment-‘build’-a-chronological-story.46816/page-7#post-1885894

Gimme a few, I'll try and take a pic of routing on my truck.

303 didn't do so hot for restoring the coloration in PF's test.

Sadly he didn't include Griot's, and it's probably the best product I've used ... but I've never tried the Cerakote that worked so well in his tests. But I had shit experience with the Mother's product shown. Too often you need to reapply and it doesn't get things naturally dark again (but our truck's trim isn't truly black, it's dark-dark-dark grey in reality)

I just installed the skid row transmission plate with the catalytic converter guards. No pics, sorry @bmf4069

Initial impressions, very nicely built. Powder coat seems to be really good quality. Install was easy. My only concern is the plate is only held on by 4 bolts so I'm not sure how much of a theft deterrent it will really be. If a meth head has a sawzall to cut off my cats again I imagine they will have wrenches also. I'm going to try and track down some security bolts or maybe go crazy and bend the bolts on the back so that they can't be removed without cutting.

Plugs easily fit through those openings. Oil sender wire was hanging by a thread, tried to be careful but... De- pining and doing that repair on my way to the re-routing wires

I couldn't get a good picture of anything from above with the intake installed and no ability to get in front of the truck (I have to pull it up to 1" from the wall or I can't walk behind the truck)

I'd love to see a pic once it's re-routed how it should be.
