Basically you pull this tab toward you, it's part of the windowscreen housing. When you do, you can slide the one movable half-window forward, using that vertical bar you see above and below the circle. Now I need to figure out how to remove the screen so I can clean it, or better yet, replace it, because the passenger side has a tear in it.

My cap’s cab-side window has a center slider that matches the truck’s rear slider perfectly. The whole cab-facing window is also fully removable, which is pretty cool. Makes the bed really water-tight.

I gave up trying to actively keep my windows screened. Just spline in a channel that holds the screen on, should be able to get the spline out with a pick or screwdriver fairly easily. If you need new spline, this should work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NYAHK6?ie=UTF8 My original spline was trash and the spline I had on hand was too thick

This one does too. Perfect match, really. While in the bed, I just can’t seem to figure out how to slide the center window. There’s no handle for the center on the bed side, and it’s, like, inset between the two sides. Super weird. Maybe you can only open from inside the truck?

Me thinks a little elbow grease and then some Sil-glyde in the window channels afterwards might help. The channels may be pinched in slightly from the PO to keep the window from sliding open as easily. The center window on mine will open while I'm driving/ offroading. My cap had "handles" glued on the cab-side and bed-side of the window, and the bed-side one came off from over-use. Can still open it from inside the bed though with the tips of my finger.

Definitely confirmed on the passenger side window. It’s caked. This bastard is gonna need some PHM-level TLC spa treatment. Or is it a hand job?

I think I’ll call a local Leer dealer or two tomorrow to see if they carry slider windoors. Word I’m finding on the internet is if they’ve got em, they’re either going to be batshit crazy $450/ea or possibly as little as $150/ea.

Beware the junky aftermarket drums. They can come out of the box not round.

That's an interesting way to do that. Cheaper than extended links.

Whats the frame recall status on your truck?

How bad were the brake pad pins to get out of there?

That's the same way my windows are on mine. Those may even be the same window assemblies as mine has. Shape looks the same. I've never really determined what kind of cap I have. It's got a name on the back but I don't even remember what it is off hand.

Easy peasy. I changed them out a year or two ago with new ones.

Something I do every few years to avoid having to drill them out like the first time I did my brakes many years back.

    Weight reduction, mostly rust.
Negative, I've looked into it a couple times, can't remember all of the info. I was just under the back end this weekend and got my eyes and hands right up in that spare crossmember... it's solid, no perfs, no debris either. Inside the front frame rails was treated with some kind of coating too, so I think it was "dealer" checked/treated/ and cleared.

Okay, we’ll that’s just unacceptable for HVAC generic 194 bulb replacement. I’ll have to put in the Sylvania 168s to see if it’s better before going the LED route.

Huh. So then I wonder if the idea’s that you can swap that whole window frame around to have it open from either side?

My front glass slider for the leer 100xq I have on the ‘16 has a knob accessible from the front. So you open the truck slider then the shell slider from within the truck.

You can still open the slider from inside the shell with dry hands and enough friction. Or you can remove the window entirely from within the shell using the tabs at the top.

It’s an OK design but knobs on both sides would make sense to me.

That would put the two residental-window-style flipout locks on the outside of the truck, which doesn't make sense to me.

I'll hafta double-check to see if I've got tabs. I'll take a pic of it in a bit, stuck in a meeting at the moment listening to people drone on.

Interesting. I think I'll just get a miniature clear suction cup and plop it down into the corner if I find out this does in fact slide.

I’m sure I have a few post PDR meetings to goto when I get back to work. I already attended a PDR walk-thru and two dry runs.

You’d think the PDR was getting published and going to the customer, but it’s not.

Now comes the post-PDR minutes to discuss and action items to close out.

It's not the age part I mind so much. It's the fact that I've noticed, the closer I get to retirement, the more aches, pains, and difficulty moving I've got, which is going to make it harder to retire the way I want to.

Honestly, the whole model is a sham. By the time I'm able to rollout my 401k, I'll be spending all that $$$ on medical. Such BS.

I'm fortunate to be on the other end of that spectrum.

It's the one thing I did right: I got in with a company 25 years ago, they offered 401k with matching, and even though it hurt I started funneling 10% of everything into it, setup highly aggressive, then buckled in for the ride. And it's been a ride. At this point, I'm working to pay the bills and any extra going in is what it is. As long as the whole program doesn't go insolvent or something, I'm alright.

I can honestly say, I believe this is probably one of the only great financial decisions I've made in my life. I've done so much stupid stuff, I'm glad I bit the bullet and suffered through the 1st ten years or so of 10% of my paycheck rerouted. And anyone on here that's under 35, I can't impress upon you enough, if you're with a company that offers 401k, especially with matching, you'd be stupid not to take it. Not to say someone in their 40s or even 50s couldn't get started, but ... I got lined setup in my early 20s when I honestly hadn't a clue what it would really snowball into.

I started at 4% and increased it a percentage every year. I did stop at 8 only because it would hurt to go up to 9. 10 is awesome. Good on you. My company's match sucks, they do 0.5% upto 1.5%. Stingy bastards.

I started at 6 to maximize my companies matching and increased 1% every year. Last year they cut off the matching due to max contribution in November. I was at 14% contribution myself. So I dialed it back to 11% to get the full year long matching and maximize my employers contributions. The extra I put into a separate retirement account now.
