Can you imagine all the important information you've had to eradicate to make room for things like, wheel back-spacing?

Might just try to trust 4WP, they have some specials right now and have a store in town.

changed my rear diff fluid today. easy peasy

    rear diff.jpg

can anyone tell me what this date represents. it's for next year... is that when fluid needs to be changed (there's no record of this fluid being change). I bought this truck a few weeks ago and just going through everything right now.

also... when changing the front diff fluid... should i order new fill/drain plugs and gaskets? they look original, but not terrible.

    thanks guys!

also i'm not sure if that darker metal is a leak... it's definitely smells like oil... but it's not recent. almost like the person who previously changed the fluid made a mess and didn't clean it.

    I would think that’s a year/month/day format.

Went out and disconnected the battery just now. Getting ready to remove my OEM air bag and install the Sienna cover I found along with steering controls. Hopefully the wiring is already there. I will move over my airbag inflator to the Sienna cover. I was going to move the bag too but it appears to be riveted to the plastic cover and I don't want to mess with it. I'll just leave the bag as is and install my Tundra inflator behind it.

Installed a bedrug drop in mat this weekend. I already love it

today began installing the pop and lock. Ran out of daylight but all I have to do tomorrow is connect the wires into the kick panel and then go back and tighten all of the wires to the frame. I did find that it was easier to take the wire in through a grommet right at the edge of the driver seat, instead of going around the firewall and back in through the hood latch as they recommended.

Was relieved to see that the underside of the truck seems to be in very good condition for 17 years old and over 300,000 miles. But I will know more when I get the shocks and lift kit put in in two weeks along with LBJ and timing belt

The parts should be here this week so I can replace the outer belt weatherstrips on all 4 doors, driver power window motor and regulator, remove and repair/tighten both driver and passenger mirrors that have been rattling.

also, about to see if I can make the drivers back portion of the seat foam before installing my Durafit seat cover. I’m just gonna break down and order the bottom foam. I already installed the passenger side and am very pleased

then some work with detailing clay and buffing

a pretty busy two weeks, but it feels so good to get this truck back in in good shape again

On the 'routing wires outside' topic, not sure if it helps, but I wrote out some extra details on how to get wires outside the cab via the floor in this dashcam writeup: https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...-gen-tundra-today.2558/page-1624#post-3199439

I found that one you mentioned right on the edge of the driver seat. It was a rubber grommet and already had some wires coming through it.

I think I read where others said there was barely enough wire. Probably a double cab like mine. Anyway coming up right on the edge of the driver seat under the carpet made it much much easier

Whelp. My new steering wheel buttons don't come with a connection for the cruise control. My current no buttons setup plugs into the clockspring and the cruise control stalk with a ground pigtail for the horn. The buttons harness connects from the clockspring connnector to the left side buttons module and the ground pigtail for the horn but no connector to go to the cruise control module. My buttons came with spare wires. Can I install the missing white wire for the cruise into the empty slot on the clockspring connector and just splice the ground wire with the existing ground wire in the connector? Is that all that goes to the cruise control module just a positive and a negative wire? It only has 2 wires going to it's connnector. I e attached a pic of the current harness and the new one.

My current connector only has the circled 3 wires. Blue goes to the ground plug of the horn and black I assume is the ground going to the cruise control plug. The empty spot in the middle should be a white white gray wire going to the cruise control plug.

Sitrep.....the airbag is back in the truck along with the buttons. I spliced the cruise control connector back in and took the truck for a spin. Cruise works as usual. The wheel buttons are not backlit. Guess I didn't check the AliExpress listing close enough. Lol.

Next step is to get the adapter to interface them to the aftermarket Kenwood head unit I'm using. Recommendations of which cheap unit to grab?

    Axxess? Metra? Other?

I have also included a pic of the plug in the underside of the clockspring I hope I don't need to run additional wires. Lol.

It is the universal drop in. You have to cut it. enough left to cover the tailgate if desired.

Ordered it from realtruck and it was here in 2 days

It appears that perhaps my clockspring doesn't have all the necessary wiring in it. Also I found another thread where clearly I am missing 3 additional wires in the bottom clockspring connector that run to the plug at the back of the factory head unit. Doh! This may become mighty expensive if I have to get another clockspring. If that's the case I'll just revert to the JBL Click as my steering wheel controls. Lol.

    Hmmm. I thought the 05 & 06 came pre-wired for controls. Maybe it's a DC thing?

I didn't unplug the connector but I bet the clockspring has the wires in I'm just needing to add the wires to my connector and run them to the back of the head unit.

I tried a few different blades, but just a good utility knife with a sharp blade ended up being the best.

it turned out well. I went overly conservative on the trimming so I could get a little practice,
and just trimmed more often until I got it right.

so there was plenty for me to experiment and still fully cover the truck bed edge to edge, and the tailgate

Just the bottom. I don’t believe it would’ve made it but about halfway up at best on each side

Here's what I've got for you:
    4runner buttons/circuit board (orange backlit)
    Grey housing
    OEM harness
4 extra pins which I think are the right ones for your housing.

    PXL_20231004_050417175.jpg

The other side had no buttons, so I didn't snag it at the yard. I think thats a land cruiser option to get all of them.

I recommend the Axxess ASWC-1 control unit, and also buy the Metra 70-8114 harness to make its install plug-and-play. It's a no-brainer.
