Well hot damn, add that to the list of "Shit I didn't know I needed but now I'm gonna order".

Strangely, mine don't look quite like y'alls. Is this a problem that only affects earlier model trucks and not the '04+ or '05+.

Sup fellers. Been away for a minute. Haneeways. Today, I took Ye Olden Tundra for a burger run after not having drive it for several months. My pops had been using it. It felt weird. Slow pokey like I was driving thru some thick as mud with flat tires. Yes, I double checked to make sure parking brake wasn't engaged. Changed the oil with some full synthetic about a month ago or so. No dash lights no codes. I don't drive it much but I don't remember it feeling so heavy. As you were.

Also my Kenwood headunit pissed me off several times during my drive. Kept loosing connection to my phone with error 4448. Maybe its just the Chinesium USB braided USB-C cable I had in the truck. I'll try another one but I really missed the wireless Android Auto from the Kenwood unit in my Ferd. I'll try a new cable and check for firmware updates before I end up having to look for another double din.

I spent ~ hour trying to figure out why my passenger side blinker wasn't blinking. I had recently converted to LED. I swapped bulbs from left to right, and even checked the blinker fluid but still no love. Turned out to be the LED flasher I got from the 'zon.

Lasted for ~ 9 months. Next time I'll try the Diode Dynamics part (although it looks suspiciously identical to this one)

    Looking for advice.

I'm assembling parts to replace my upper and lower control arms. While it's all apart I'll be replacing the upper ball joint (OEM, of course). I replaced the lowers with OEM ~ 10,000 miles ago. I've got Moog upper and lower arms (really can't afford to go OEM) and new cam bolts for the lowers.

Q: The upper bolt doesn't appear to be too rusty. Do you think I can reuse it?
Q: The video I just watched for the lowers says that the steering rack has to come off to remove the rear cam bolt. Is this the best way?

If so, then I may as well plan on replacing the rack bushings at the same time. Oh, and the steering shaft seal as well.

After all the fake parts stories here and on Scamazon itself (i.e., the honest, negative reviews that actually get published), I quit ordering anything off there that I actually needed to work by itself. Just no QC or oversight or accountability at all. So for example like a phone case, fine, I’ll order that; but a phone, no way. New clamps for my battery tender, fine, but a new battery tender, no way.

    Sad.

I know I’m a few days late on this.

Man the two things from my 2010 that I really miss - 5.7 and the tailgate assist. Don’t miss the shamu hood. I’ve seen the deezee option and the torsion bar option. Do we know if anyone has tried to customize a 2nd gen assist into a first gen? I saw what PHM did, but I’d like to keep an assist a little more concealed than that. But maybe that’s the only way. Tempted to pull off the tail light and look at it.

2nd gen Tundra has upward assist? Or just slow open like 3rd gen Tacoma?

I removed mine a couple of months ago and love the way the truck drives. Much smoother and 700lb springs handle great. Only time I throw it back on is if I’m doing any long trips on the highway

It was just slow open. Maybe a little upward assist, but not super noticeable. My 4 year old opened the tailgate a week or two ago and dang near took it in the head. I hate the tailgate slamming down for many reasons.

Well I just pulled off the tail light and no chance you could fit the 2nd gen hardware in there. So forget that.

So I've done my '05 Tacoma with 3rd gen dampener. I have some hope of doing the FGT as well. It's actually overly strong for the very lightweight 2nd gen Taco tailgate, even with MH panel. So the dampener is strong enough to handle FGT I think. Just a matter of getting the perfect bracket built by christian06 which at this point requires I come to him (Sacramento) and we tinker. It's definitely on my todo list, one reason why I'm stalling on the bar. But it would only be soft open, no upward assist which is definitely nice.

ETA: These are his videos, not mine, I have a few photos of my install on my phone but no videos or anything. I still need to do a steel bumper on the 2nd gen Taco, right now the dampener is exposed and looks a little yucky b/c the plastic piece that covers the stock hinge setup won't fit over the dampener.

I've literally driven the truck all of 3x in the last 5 weeks. Sadly, I still don't think I've broken 76k yet. My last gas fill-up was July 20th and I was at 75,535.

Here you go. Just had to drop the oldest off. Looks like I'm a little low in one of my tires.

My brake pedal was stiff as hell when I jumped in the truck! Like, couldn't even push it in. Weird. Went back to normal after starting the truck, but ...

Although my truck is "off road" on the factory configuration, it has never had the decal (at least not since I've owned it). Since I de-badged I though she looked a bit naked, so I ordered the decal and finally got around to installing it today. I'm not sure I like it though...seems too white. Maybe I should have used silver?

Didn't get a chance to check my brakes today. Found out I had a small leak in the bathroom that destroyed the bottom of the El cheapo vanity. Been replacing it and having to make runs for this or that all afternoon in the Ferd. Ye Tundra will just have to wait until after my work week.

Proving my point. I always tell people to stay away from these because that's exactly what they do. Diode dynamics is more advanced and allows you to program nice features. I've had one in my lexus for 3 or 4 years now after my cheap one did exactly what yours did after less than a year.
