Any chance you can post up some of those requested top secret screen grabs from the stealership files for 2002 v8 4wd transmission service?

Started the recommended steps for oxidized single stage paint yesterday.

Washed-->claybar-->applied Meguiar's #7 and let soak over night. Supposedly this will awaken the oils in the paint. In a little bit I'll remove that coat and inspect. 2nd coat may be necessary. Then I'll do a coat of polish then end with wax. Pictures to come.

What's wild is when testing the #7 on one panel it actually changed the shade of my paint. Hard to explain over the internet.

    Wife's Rav4 will follow suit.

That pic helps. The other threads I’ve read show to caulk all the screw clips and it didn’t make sense when it looked like they all drained into a channel when I had the cowl off. Didn’t even look or stick my hand around to test that end one to see if it emptied into the channel.

Next time I pull this cowl off I’ll be painting it and doing the caulk job on that end one.

Sounds like self torture. It should turn out nice. Meguiars has great products. Just put some of their Synthetic Wax on the 02’.

Yes. It does. I’ll be doing a drain and fill maybe today. Thanks for the input.

If you want the info on doning the filter I think that’s in the manual. But they don’t say anything about flushing the fluid. Honestly drain and fill is perfectly fine to do. I do it on all my cars. Even the sealed trans cars

Nice! Keep us posted. My white paint has an orange tint, especially on the hood, from iron dust. I'm planning to get that fixed up and was going to use IronX.

I need to figure out if there are power tools to do this. Clay bar and polishing by hand is something i dont think i have the patience for.

I was looking to go next level and drop the pan and put in a new filter. Maybe tighten some bolts on the assy while it was open. Looking for something I can break, basically.

Everything works fine and she shifts smoothly as the trans fluid has been regularly changed about every 10-15k miles since hitting 124k on the OD. Sitting at 162k now.

I’ll stick with whats working and just drain and fill. This is the first time I’ll be doing this, due to pro shops having done all the services prior. Going with Valvoline DEXIII (non synthetic) $14 for the gallon.

Unfortunately, great patience is needed on any type of finish work. The clay bar is the real deal start to a great finish, but there is no easy short cut for its use.

Transmission Fluid Change. Drain and fill with DEXIII. Cold drain and fill. Total cost less than $14. One hour total time including drive time to dispose of old fluid.

You trying to make it slower? o_O

Went outside and decided a few things.
    1) Not gonna drink this Suntory neat anymore.
    2) Its a great day to take a nice drive, I think I'll do that.
    3) I should check my mystery tire pressure.

Got put the compressor and the gauge and checked all 4 corners. My suspicion was that the tire guys went with factory specs of 26/29 psi. To my surprise they seem to have gone 40 psi on 3 tires and 36 psi on the 4th.

I looked at the foot prints and decided I will start at 40/42 and after my nice drive I will do the chalk test to see where that puts me.

I'm also thinking I will grab a few bottles of diff juice so I can have a fluidpalooza night. Change my diff fluid, change the Honda diff fluid and Honda oil. Tomorrow I'm taking the throttle body off the Honda to clean the IACV and see if that fixes the idle.

Since I can't seem to find any xgauge that actually reads the ATF temp on my 5 speed auto, I'm thinking about buying a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and the Torque app. Anyone here have expert going this route?

Anatomy of an oil cap. Pics below with descriptions. Not pictured is the oil cap prior to all the reinvestment work put back into the 02’. The cap had some oil sludge build up (not snot).

Pic: Oil cap after doing an oil clean purge with Liqui-Molly and full conversion to Mobil1 Full Synthetic. Pictured is the cap with 1,500 miles. From research the snot looking residue indicates some moisture in the oil finding its way up to the cap. Never saw it before. I wiped it off and its not appeared since.
    upload_2019-3-16_15-42-3.jpg

Pic: Oil cap has a nice shiney appearance. Very clean and no snot. Cap with 2.5k miles after the snot.

    upload_2019-3-16_15-53-33.jpg

Conclusion: The dynamics on this engine have changed for the best. New PCV Valve allowing for better engine airflow and Full Synthetic Oil detergents cleaning the sludge. I’ll be monitoring, as always... the transmission, oil, and rad levels for problems.

Just drove the back roads to Thousand Oaks. Lots of hills and curves through the nicest greenery thanks to the rain we had. Left the radio off and windows down to enjoy the sounds of my truck.

Hence me saying big $$$ to get what he wants. The $3-4k scanners can do it from my research. If he buys the cheapy app and it works, thats awesome.

This is what I'm wondering... But I think it comes down to actively updating the app vs finding the programming an xgauge. If it works, it's a game changer at the price and ease of use.
