What difference does it make if you do the alignment before new tires or right after? My truck is out of alignment again after Sedona and my 4 year old KO2's are definitely showing their age. I'm going to try and hold out for the new KO3's.

I'm trying to digest some of the logic here. I'm with you Shifty. I'm not waiting for uneven wear to show on my new tires and then align. To each his own.

I just rebuilt my whole front end and I have wheels and tires from a 3rd gen Tacoma I’ll be using but they need new tires. So I’m going to get the alignment done and ride on the old tires for a few hundred miles to be sure everything is good to go then put the new tires on. I won’t need to re align for new tires.

Now I'm curious how often everyone aligns their trucks. I usually do it once a year and get the 6 months warranty getting it aligned at NTB. So I'll try to be strategic and get an alignment before I go on an offroading trip and get it done again for free right after. Then maybe once more for free right before the 6 months are up... Assuming I'm on my game. Otherwise just once a year.

Not wrong, but possibly not necessary if the old showed no signs of bad wear.

Best to do it before if needed. That way the new tires aren't driven on a bad alignment.

Immediately after is ok but a bad alignment can kill tires VERY fast, depending on compound and how far off.

I mean, it depends... I have access to two alignment racks here at the shop. It's more of when I want to do it.

Just rotated these bad boys at 5K miles. Forgot what a PIA it is to rotate heavy wheels on a lifted truck. Did the foam cleaner last week, half can. Now I find this leak. I'm really hoping it's not the water pump, ughh. My current pump and belt have about 50K on them. I was really hoping to make it last till 200K (currently at 170K)

I haven't gone to to a wrecking yard yet for the Tundra but dang, they actually allowed you to wander around on your own? Down here in SD, the Volvo yards either escort you or you have to tell them what you're looking for and they get it for you. No bueno...I wanna get lost for a couple o' hours looking for chit I didn't know I needed!

Yeah, you pay $3 and you have free range. They even have an app so you get alerts with photos when the cars on you list come Into the yard. I always leave with my pockets full of bolts and random stuff.

they have a yard in Oceanside and Chula Vista. The app is called ‘PYP Garage’

This is the cleanest I have seen the exterior of the truck in 18 years. Perfect morning for a wash to get off the grit and grime courtesy of 4 months worth of digging up our street and laying new pipes. Because there was no longer any beading, I decided a coat of wax was in order. Bad idea. Into the rabbit hole I went. Surface was full of contaminants so I pull out the clay mitt and proceed to use and abuse it. Had to finish up with a clay bar. Good thing it was only 2 panels and I was left with nice slickery surfaces (minus various nicks and dents). Figure from there I would hit it real quick with the PC, liquid cream wax and a hand applied carnuba paste topper. No correction in the plans this go 'round. That's where things went sideways. Darned cream wax was not coming off completely. Splotches everywhere. None of the work was done in 'direct' sunlight and panels were always cool to the touch. Ticked off as I had already started working on the passenger side. Pulled out the cutting pads and got to work on the passenger side real quick like, even the panel I had already done. Next, I stripped the freshly done driver's side to remove everything and start fresh. This wasn't the first time I had issues with this cream wax ( bad batch I'm thinking now) coming off so I hand applied paste wax instead of trying the cream again.. I had never seen the reflections like this. Too many years of late father-in-law getting the deluxe package at the local rub 'n scrub i guess.

Clay mitt with some single stage goodness. Look at that nastiness on the fender. Mitt has been sent to the garbage.

Aftermath. Went through 4 cutting pads. They started out BLUE! All looked like this. Good thing I had latex handy too.

Don’t judge. And if you must know, it’s foil tape wrapped in bailing wire. The foil is underneath the tape. Might have had some pipe rot I “addressed” a few years ago.

Might be time to goto a custom exhaust shop and get some stainless steel pipe replacement along with a new resonator/muffler or whatever that is following it.
