I don't either. No interest. IIRC, it's not anodized, and aluminum that's not anodized, near corrosive crap, has a penchant for chalking/caking.

Guys on here I've seen using felt rings on the terminals don't seem to fight with white fluff.

    It's just not for me.

that could be it, I never sprayed the terminals with anti-corrode, but I have felt and also run them 1/16" high on the posts

They may actually be ano'd. It's totally possible I'm wrong. Someone on here - I feel like it was FGV, but maybe it was Dan or something. Bought one, had some battery issues, and they fluffed out hard, which isn't what I'd expect to see from something anodized.

So you got the coil cleaner in through the drain nipple there? Is that what you're saying? Seems like a great preventative maintenance idea honestly.

I think I pulled my battery tie down off last year, applied naval jelly, wire brushed and rattle canned it. Good nuff I suppose…and I’m a cheap ass…hence the backyard cam seal replacement.

If the fan works on all speeds, the resistor itself is ok. Just the ceramic cover or coating has started breaking down/apart.

Very common to find it cracked/flaking/etc across different makes/models.

I ran no hold down. Don't know when it went away. I didn't take it off, wasn't on my mechanic's work top. Poof vanished.
When you're looking at replacing the entire exhaust including two cats - fancy battery hold-down was a hard nope.
FGV's Tundra is mostly sorted & definitely feather-dusted under the hood. That's when you start adding truck jewelry.

Turns out the part is only $20. I'm just gonna replace it. Hopefully it's good for another 15 years.

    Yep.

From the inside, pop off glove box, pop off resistor and carefully slide out (it's a tight fit, there's just enough room, extract slowly). Take a peek inside to see if you have shit to vacuum out. Vacuum out as needed. Reinstall resistor. take your Toyota AC refresh kit, stick the barb end of the tube into that drain nipple on the firewall and pump away, shaking the can as you pump, then give if 15-20 mins to liquefy and drain out. Notes on that:
    • Toyota says empty half the can into there, let it drain out, then empty the other half in
    • BG says to empty the whole can in, set the HVAC to ON, non-recirc, full blast, then crank the engine so it pulls the foam thru the can - I'm not in love with this idea! (but I did empty half the can in, then turn on the vent for a few seconds to pull some through the coil.
    • I'd probably stick with Toyota's reco.
I gave the part numbers up above for our region, the number that starts 000xx-xxxxx is something you should be able to give your local dealership parts counter and they can grab it. They should have it in stock.

Here's the Toyota instructions for the kit. We're lucky; the drain tube is super easy to get to for us. :D

My truck has always smelled a bit like the pirates of the carribean ride at Disneyland and while I’m not one of those people who loses their shit over DL, the wife said “don’t do it! It reminds me of going to a waterpark” this is why we can’t have nice things  but I have thought about trying to see if there was anything I could do to freshen it up a bit, I appreciate the post @shifty` ….I wonder if using AC coil cleaner wouldn’t help the condenser or radiator after particularly adventurous driving :monocle:

I mean, the stuff that's in here is basically just coil cleaner that HVAC guys use on compressors outside your house. It'd probably just be cheaper to buy the stuff HVAC guys use to clean your radiator, but I mean, a water hose may work just as well, as long as it's not so strong it'll bend your fins. People sell tools to straighten those fins out though, IIRC.

A lot of times "that water park smell" is due to cabin leaks, and the must is from mildew or full-on mold. The stuff I used and linked above is primarily intended for use when those musty smells coincide with you turning on the air. In my wife's Highlander, the 1st time you turn on the A/C, it's almost like catching a little whiff of vinegar. But in my truck, it just smelled dusty/like fresh soil when you turn it on. That's gone after the treatment.

YMMV. I won't recommend using this on your radiator. But I'm sure there's something out there that'll work!

Hahaha I meant it smells like waterpark when I turn the AC on, never peeked back there though I’ll have to check it out sometime soon.

Here’s little progress pic for the day, yesterday I got the passenger side camshaft out, spent all morning today cleaning both cam covers and little circle seals along with cleaning the valve covers, new spark plug tube seals and a new PCV valve, the old one was a bitch to get off.
    image.jpg
Replaced the seal on the passenger side camshaft, going to reassemble and torque down now and clean the area surrounding the bucket before calling it a day, get to the next task hopefully tomorrow after work.

He looks pissed, like that pole had the audacity to hop in front of him, while making eye contact.

    FOCUSed a little too hard.

    Hopefully he's "A"-OK (hurr).

Maybe if he'd just had a little more hair on his head and face like you, he'd have intimidated the telephone pole enough to get out the way.

Big question is: Was he driving like a d-bag, trying to pass someone he shouldn't have passed, or will we just never know?

Interesting how the rest of that pole is still suspended by the lines.
