You guys in the warmer climates need to start dripping your water faucet at night so the pipes don’t freeze and burst. Something a lot of people overlook.

Sadly I need to relight my furnace pilot light a couple nights every winter when it’s cold and windy. The downdraft from the exhaust vent tends to blow it out since it’s in my attic.

Someone posted a attachment you put on your outside faucets that automatically starts dripping when it gets to cold out, pretty smart idea

That’s kind of neat. I have an internal shutoff valve in the house and drain the water from that point to outside.

Can you crank up the heat remotely to thaw it out? I’ve done that once.

    I have the same situation.

Wife is home. She’s got a portable heater on it. Hope it’s a freeze and not burst scenario. I think the culprit is the new windows we put in. My buddy wasn’t concerned with caulking the outside part as much as the inside part. Think the lack of seal around the outside part is letting cold air bleed into the wall space that normally wouldn’t. All pipes are in the slab

So my grandma was kinda crazy, like most I’m sure, and had a bunch of plants so she would always put trash cans under her roof downspouts for when it did rain, and then quickly fill up milk jugs and put them under her patio for later use. She usually had no less than 30 jugs filled and ready.

Water is back! Wifey used the hairdryer technique. Appear to have no leaks, will leave that one dripping and address the insulation factor when weather improves
