I use several Eastwood products, but I haven't tried this one yet. Seems like it fits the bill though...

Since I don’t have Russell speed bleeders yet, I’ve decided to dilute the gray/green water absorbing brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir. Looks like I can only suck it down to the min line due to the mesh filter inside.

Got a little clearer. Looks like it’s going to take 3 dilutions with driving in between to get it back to more of a golden color I hope. Bleeding brakes may hold off until spring or a day without snow on the ground once I get the bleeders delivered.

Ah, good 'ol Ranger method. I know people knock it, but IDGAF. shifty-approved.

(still need to flush every 4-6 years though)

I guess this is another reason I love living down here, away from the elements.

I know sunlight/UV will degrade it, but you don't see that much down here because it's usually used on stuff under the body.

Well, hard to argue with my eyeballs. Scangauge unplugged and airbag light off. Time to sell or give the SG away.

No calling SG to ask them "WTF?!"

Surely they've seen this case before and can tell you what's up?

Maybe. Not sure I care to spend the time. Not going to try another one.

Are you running an AGM and voltage booster? Also, you and Dan are vvti and newer than my ‘02, I think you guys even have TPMS?

It worked fine for many months and only popped the airbag light on a long drive. Could well be voltage related.

Also, while parked at batteries plus to pick up a 27F so I can rotate my 31 to freshwater fish power backup given our expected power outage tomorrow, I got an unsolicited “hey man, sweet tundra” from a dude driving by. That was fun. First time. I guess the bumpers stand out. It’s not really that flashy.

Yes to all of those I believe.
Have you reset the scan gauge to factory settings or whatever?

Huh. Anyone want an ancient 1ohm stable high-current monoblock Audiobahn amp for their truck? :D

    https://shopgoodwill.com/item/157006195

I think the 1300 was for 1x300 @ 4ohm. So probably putting out around 900w @1ohm. Assuming it's working. These things were tanks though.

I have TPMS. In fact, I just had to drive 130 mile round trip to get a gift for my wife. Damn TPMS started flashing as I was on the last 15 minutes of the drive, literally right after I rolled 74,400 miles. I remember thinking, "Hot damn, I should take a pic of this! Nah, I'll wait 'til 74,444! OOH, that means 76,543 is coming soon! It's a mileage straight flush!"

Before I could complete that chain of thought, TPMS light started blinking. I'm going to go back down to the truck in a few and see if it's just a fluke.

To do so I’d want bench power. So I’d have to rig up a male ODB port and figure out the pins. Which is time I’d rather allocate to truck mods.

This is what I was about to say :D

As with anything, these gauge tools, like ScanGauge and the EDS branded unit, they use a custom cable with OBDII port on one end, and a RJ45 (network cable) style connector on the other end. It stays plugged into the OBDII port all the time, or at least while in use. Weird shit happens when you leave stuff plugged into OBD ports all the time.

On this forum in not-so-distant history, we've had a few cases where having OBD-based devices (diag dongles) have caused codes to throw and parasitic battery drain if left plugged in all the time. I'm guessing @daveeasa's cable is either faulty, or one of the pins is dicked up, and the technician probably went to hook up to the OBDII port, only to find when they unplugged the SG, *poof*, CEL gone, codes cleared. No more diag work needed

I'm guessing SG would probably replace the cable. But it's also totally possible something programmed into the unit is making it read/access an address in the ECU that's causing the CEL in the SRS. This is why I was saying "factory reset". Any custom X-gauge codes would be a big suspect to me. If factory reset of the SG device doesn't resolve the issue, I'd suspect the cable. But any of SG's support folks that've dealt with the product for a while would probably remember an issue like this....

Yeah, I'll take it off your hands. I'll find some way to repay you for your kindness one way or another.

I'm sure crackie will be up in the PNW eventually, and I'll come by and do some firewood for you.

I think if you short pins the airbag light can flash. But that would mean disconnecting the SG so it’d go away (in theory)

I can grab a photo of the odb connector. I don’t think any pins are messed up but that’s a great thing to rule out.

I did set up xgauge codes to get trans temp. Which was the primary reason for having it in the first place. Digital speedo was nice. Voltage meter also nice. But airbags trump all that stuff now that things are stable. I can get battery voltage from the pioneer and I’d really rather have main and aux voltage down the road. With 3 charging sockets, I can probably ditch the cig lighter spot for around dual voltage display.

bottom line for me, though, is I paid for the unit and the bracket then had to hunt for the config to get trans temp and then I paid again to have the dealer tell me I’m an idiot. I really have no more time for this tool, I’ll stick with my $20 fixd dongle / phone app as needed and leave my ports free of dongles while driving

I’m just too short on time to waste it on tech which has any chance of causing new trouble. I don’t need that.

I don't get an airbag light but my OBD2 reader caused my ABS light to rapid blink until I pulled the fuses.

F'ing unbelievably excellent remote diagnosing! Kinked wire on the SG2 from reinstalling the integration relay. In my defense I was in a costco parking lot with super tight timelines and minimal tools. But, you f'ing nailed it my man. Likely nothing wrong with SG2, just me fubaring the cable behind the integration relay mounting bolt, squeezing it, thus shorting some terminals which revealed itself after a bit of a drive. Hot diggity.

I take back all the s I said about the scanguage. I might keep it after all, will think about it tonight.
