Pulled out my left CV and gutted/rebooted it. Won’t recommend those CVJ neoprene boots to anyone. 2 years in and it’s CRUSTY.

replaced with the oem Toyota plastic outer boot, and reused the red CVJ inner. Finished up at about 10:30 last night, and forgot to get a pic of the finished product.

Went to coat my undercarriage in fluid film before the storm tomorrow (well 2” of slush with an inch of brine courtesy of MA DOT) and realized my stabilizer bar mount is welded onto metal that’s anywhere from 1/16” to 1/8” thick due to the internal rusting. Me thinks it’s the next casualty to my truck after the fuel line. Need to think up some solutions.

Added the 1" block today to the back. 23.5" now on the back (center to fender) and 22.5" on the front. Proportions look right on to me now.

I think I’m right about 23.5” in the rear and I’m liking the height there so far.

Nice, a cap is what your after next? I got a cap in dreams of making it sleepable in the bed, maybe this winter will be the year it happens!! But I’m the back of my mind I still want a full truck bed, but then the cap also takes away from that……. I don’t know what I’m waiting on!

Yeah, we need the backseat again so the dogs will be moved to the bed so we’re gonna get a Leer this winter.

If you do a simple removable setup you’ll still have the truck bed minus tall loads.

Went out in the rain today after learning I had another 8 hours of PTO to burn off before the end of the year and attempted to loosen the 14 mm nut against the 19 mm nut of the fuel filter to get the line off. No go apparently with maybe 1/4” of movement but that could have my imagination. Hard to tell. Sprayed some more rust penetrant and called it a day.

Stuff is awesome for drafts and liquids as long as it's legit and has good adhesive.

So this is the recall kit 04006-62134, but I just realized I have an early 2004 model (production date 11/2003) which from my understanding might have the smaller ball joint. Anyone with an early 2004 ever installed this kit? @des2mtn is yours an early 2004? Might just pull the ball joint and compare at this point.

Oooh! I need to find the kit number for the 02 LBJ recall. Toyota make 2 identical rubber protective boots that are both the left hand side for both L and R part numbers (left won’t fit right). Maybe the kit is different.

My truck has big ball joints. My truck was sold mid year and produced in April of 04. The LBJ recall on the truck was done in 2008.

I sprung a leak. Appeared to be coming out of 'weephole'? under harmonic/crank shaft, then realized it was comin from above and can't see exactly where it starts. Leaking a fair amount too. Any guesses? cam seals? Seems too far forward to be valve covers.
