I'd call Jason and let him know in advance when you're planning on picking it up, and that you plan on driving it 1k miles home. You've talked so highly of the guy that I'm confident it'll be road worthy when you get there.
With older gas, I'd definitely rather dilute the 'old' with premium rather than burn 100% 'old'.

Are you getting a front bumper this time or sliders? I've heard their lead time is up to like 7 months now. They must be extremely busy.

Oh, it's very firm. I can turn the wheel maybe half a degree, and really feel it. I definitely feel more of the bumps. I wish I could just buy the bushings.

I definitely put it all back together correctly. Here's my post on it. https://www.tundras.com/threads/tundra2s-lifetime-project.65626/page-7#post-2356290

    Yes, from others suggesting this.

Anyone know someone with a hitch mounted tire carrier in here? Was debating getting one, but they always seem to poke out too much but I have never seen the fitment of one on a 1st gen.

So I "fixed" my gas door with magnets like someone recommended. I picked the wrong magnets at Harbor Freight though. Didn't realize how tiny they are until I opened them. They work but bigger ones would have been better. (What she said)

I almost made the same mistake, but I saw how puny they were when I was in the store, so I bought these instead.
    IMG_3943.jpg

I removed the rubber bumpers, and stacked the magnets on the door. Works great!

Not the pretty welds I would have hoped for, but per normal it’s freaking hard to do yoga and weld on truck. Hardest part is fitting the helmet in places. Should hold up though…F5ED9CAB-164F-4F84-A06F-C1CA746A483B.jpg

Nice. As a noob, I'm still trying to understand why my welding instructor wanted to do circles to get the stacked dime look vs pausing the weld tip and then going back and then forward in a straight line. That's more reasonable and controllable instead of circles probably because my cursive hand writing sucks.

Straight line wouldn't give you as wide of a penetration path. Going in lowercase e-shapes you get a taller/wider path, i.e. far wider penetration than dragging a line back and forth.

EDIT: Not only that, but you also stay focused in a smaller area for a better puddle.

Wouldn't upping the voltage a bit spread out the arc as well for a wider penetration?

Go too hot, you blow shit out. That was actually the hardest thing I had to figure out, and if I'm being honest, I never really got a feel for: How high to set the voltage, and which voltage to use based on the thickness of the material. But I was mostly working with truck frame related crap, and square tubing that was much thinner walled.

I was nothing more than a utilitarian welder, you're probably better tossing that argument at one of the other guys. I sold off my Lincoln WPHD and Everlast plasma a few years back. After 5 years of barely even turning it on, it was worth more to me in cash than it was gathering dust.

Changed my oil today after letting Seafoam simmer for 175 miles.

While that was draining I worked on the RAV4. The sway bar links were loose again. This time I did it right and went and bought a 18mm wrench. Buying an individual tool like that is a rip off but I had no choice. At least I'll have that size going forward.

Do the rear brakes grip better if you tweak it to simulate a full payload?
