A little Hurricane comes through and my poor Tundra keeps throwing a 446 :censored::censored:

Well today was final straw , took that dam gas cap out and found Riva Mud :crapstorm: under the rubber seal and in the vent tube....

Luckily Momma wasn't around so after a few !@#$% and getting my hands dirty :rofl::rofl::rofl: light is officially OFF

And NO , for the extra $ 5-10 every other fill , it gets to "drink" the good stuff :hattip:

Ha! I need time more than anything.

Given detected knocks can be caused by faulty combustion and not just the sensor, I guess this is the excuse I needed to finally toss in these new Iridium plugs. It's been bugging me I haven't pulled a plug yet to see what state they're in. Shoulda done it when I was doing the valve cover gaskets, but time.

Guess I know what I'm up to now for this weekend. Parents are supposed to be coming into town soon, so I probably need to squeeze it in before then.

I worked with a guy named Randy who was handy but not in a good way. More of a “you’ve been reported to HR” kind of way or so I was told.

So, there is an engine clock.

    4000 minutes is 66.66 hours.

    interesting.

It could just be a large counter running off a microcontroller clock. Not a time of day clock.

I mean, for me, '06, SAIP, both knock sensors, starter, would all be exposed in the process, all possibly proactive maintenance. And intake manifold gasket refresh.

I can't make this shit up, this was my mileage when my O2 sensor went bad.

    upload_2022-10-19_23-31-30.jpg
Looks like I was wrong, it was b2s2. Because it was the rear sensor, I didn't bother swapping both.

    OBDLink MX+ dongle.
    Plus their free diag app.

I posted a coupon code for it in the recent 1GT diag adapter thread. I haven't had a lot of time to play with it. Pairing it in the app was a bit clumsy - Instructions in box said to go to Bluetooth on iPhone, hold the button on dongle, pair, then open the app. Reality was more like Open the app, get to the point where it wants you to pair, then go to Bluetooth settings on iPhone, pair it, then go back to the app. Else it wouldn't show up.

Didn't have a lot of time to play - was single-dad-duty tonight. But overall, is a pretty quick communicator. Will be interesting to do some live diagnostics and stuff.

I hear you, but we literally don't have rodents where I live. 20 years here, I've never seen mice, signs of mice, anything. I'd have seen droppings, chewing, signs of something in our garage which is concrete-walled on 3 sides. I've lived lots of places with them prior, know the signs. I may eventually eat my words on this one, but ...

Edit: We also have food in the garage. They would've totally eaten that first, before nesting in the engine...

Given how the SAIP sits under the intake, is there even enough space for a rodent to get past it to chew at the knock sensor wiring? I'll hafta go check pics.

    @Pucks18 disapproves.

I love knock sensor codes! It's actually what brought me to this forum. Mice got into my wires so I had a different code and it was in constant limp mode.

Excuse me sir, pascals is usually represented in kPa.

    That's Pythagoras.

I knew I wasn't crazy. The fact that his isn't in limp mode might be a good sign.

Fingers crossed. Given this is a new OBDII reader and smartphone app (to me), I'm hoping it's just reading wrong, somehow, as silly as that sounds.

Did a mixed city-hwy drive this morning, 45 minutes, lots of stop-and-go, lots of open 60-80mph stretches. No weirdness. Popped in OBDII reader, no pending codes.

Too early to say for sure. I may grab a borescope, see if I can maneuver it under the mani to check for signs of rodents. I'm open to the possibility, but highly doubtful.

Definitely no limp mode during drive. No idling. No knocking, pinging or other. No weird idle, no hesitations, no weird shifts. Drove like it always has.

I just thought it was interesting how it lined up with 4000 min.

my '88 comanche had an emission maintenance timer that would light up a money light at 82kish miles. Regardless if there was a problem.
