we need to find a way to flatten that skid plate. Thats the only way most of the bolts will go back in.

BFH over some wood. Just don't leave too many skid marks in the process.

Installed my airbags that have been sitting in the closet for 2 months. Truck held the camper well with stock springs, not much sag (pic of camper is pre air bags). Excited to drive with a little less sponge on bumps and turns. Surprised how stiff it feels at 15psi without a load in the bed.

this kit off Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/224584488708. The only thing that ended up fitting was the bezel, I ended up modifying the stock headunit mounts to work with my aftermarket headunit.

Interesting. I took the part number and cross-referenced in a few places.

I found this review on scAmazon which decribes exactly what me and a lot of the other guys on here found with the Metra kit: Gaps at top and bottom. Same review says the kit you used solves the gap problems us later-1st-gen owners are seeing with Metra's kit.

I think I'm going to pick up one of the other type and try it out.

The the bezel looks great with no gaps. It just sucks that the mounts and harness that came with it didn't fit. I just ended up cutting the stock radio harness because I wanted to get it done. It was never going back to stock anyway.

Doing some @shifty` recommended work. I should have ordered a new seal that goes between the window and cowl, but that’s easy enough to add later. Gotta go, I’ve got two chickens to paralyze.

I'm looking at relocating my shock reservoirs, and wondered if anyone saw an issues with this location? Mounting on top of the frame, but clears all hoses and tucks pretty nicely behind the mud/splash guard. What do ya'll think?

I cleaned the bottom of the motor, around valve covers, steering rack, boots, every thing covered with 16 years of oil and grease. I used Palmolive dish liquid in low pressure power washer. I know I have had a slight valve cover leak in the past. I have been using high mileage Valvoline the last year ( 2000 miles) . The leak seems to have decreased. I am interested to see how the bottom side looks a year from now.

If you're talking about the rubber seal that's at the edge of the cowl, that shrinks with time, it's not sold separately. Gotta buy a whole new cowl piece. @EvilMilkshake was asking about it also.

If it's something else, 'splain. If it helps, here's pics from my overhaul. Exploded diagrams here. If you snapped any fasteners getting the cowl off, see here.

Yes, and mine shrunk with time. But, not sold separately - bummer.

Not today, but 5 days ago I replaced my Ranchos with a fresh set. Here’s how that 5 day old set is holding up. [IMG] [IMG]
Ranchos suck dong. I installed the hardware finger tight and then snugged it once the truck was on the ground as directed by rancho technical support. ~250 miles, 15 on smooth gravel road and 150 Yards of low speed easy rock garden, and here we are.

No. I bought my first set for $177 ea on sale 2 years ago. This is my 2nd time replacing them with the warranty. I have The original shocks on the rear (they’re due for replacement).

I started digging today because I was curious how much it would cost if I wanted to replace the bedside rail plastics, the bumper plastics, and the tailgate plastics. I remember @FirstGenVol mentioned the tailgate guard plastic was exorbitant, and I remember looking and seeing it was not proportionally priced. I find it laughable it's around $65 for each bed side rail plastic but I'm in for almost $150 for the tailgate cap, which is way easier to make.

The plastic bumper "wings" are also reasonable, but the license plate surround is another one where it's just stupid pricing.

I was happy to see Toyota actually sells the little rubber bumpers at the tip of the grill (circled below). But I'm pretty sure a computer/PC noise-free fan rubber mount would work, and not cost $3/ea

I was also surprised to learn 1GT AC owners years 2002+ can also get a full replacement power side-slider window for around $600, the entire assembly. Not sure if it's pre-tinted. But still pretty cool.

Sad you can't just replace the trim around it. I'm looking through all the exploded images, and nada.

I'm not sure. Only one way to really find out. But you could guesstimate by taking some measurements and comparing to an AC maybe? Unfortunately I don't know if the outer trim is the same on power slider vs. manual slider vs. solid 1pc.

Actually ... I went ahead and pulled the parts list for an '02 RC Limited 4.7 4WD. Here.

It would appear there are four window options for the '02 RC, which isn't the case with my '06, note the description on the 4th, in parens, says power slider. The MSRP showing is about 20-30% higher than actual cost to a participating dealer. I'd probably buy the motor used, but the part numbers are the same! 2000-2001 owners may not be so lucky! :

I definitely thought about that, but I’m so fed up right now, I don’t want to mess with it. I’m also a tad worried about potentially leaving my truck stranded on jack stands until I can get a replacement shock if something goes wrong.

Try to swap them for new replacements under warranty and sell them uninstalled. Sounds like you are switching brands anyway.
