I can't begin to understand most of that, but is it safe to say don't jam the brakes before they are broken in? Asking for a friend.

I was getting some rubbing in the driver front wheel well when backing up out of the driveway and turning. I tried to move the wheel a bit and found out my adjustment cams are frozen, and I managed to tear the rack boot causing a decent leak. Now, as an excuse to go big, and because I haven't had to do anything to the truck in a while I placed a nice big order this morning. I'll be replacing the rack and pinion and steering shaft seal as well as lower control arms, and cams. I also found a new place to relocate the shock reservoirs so I'll be moving those at the same time. Wish me luck!!!

I was happy but not pumped with the durabak 18 dark grey on the lid. So, I ordered some smooth dark grey and black and did a custom mix. Much better.

Aftermarket headunit install. I found this Boss BVCP9685A open box on ebay. So far I can tell its not as high resolution or as responsive as name brand headunits I've used but it was cheap. I made the steering wheel controls work using a axxess ASWC-1. it was super easy to set up. I decided to run new speaker cables as I didn't want to pay $70 for a harness that made the speaker wires twice as long as they needed to be. Not really worth it as running the speaker wires took a very long time. Now I just need my tweeters to show up.
While taking off the tweeter covers the small clip that stays in the door broke on both sides. I haven't been able to find an individual part number, has anyone else replaced these?

Which head unit kit did you use with that? I like it a hell of a lot better than the Metra kit I used with mine.

I replaced mine with aftermarket. Needed a little coercion. Sounds cleaner, louder and brighter. Factory made a high pitched tinny whistley noise, but didn’t sound like music.

I've got the same headunit setup as you @shifty` and I agree that I'm not impressed with the Metra kit. I don't like having the gap at the top and bottom. However, I am looking at relocating my phone mic by drilling a spot for it in the side filler piece.

This is where mine ended up, more details here on how I installed. It's a simple no-drill option which doesn't require removal of the A-pillar trim. Everyone says I sound great on the phone.

That's a good spot. I have mine off the driver visor but that spot might be better.

That is a pretty good spot. Mine's on the bottom of my steering column and nobody can hear me well so I hang up. On second thought, I'll keep it where it is.
I need to take mine out, but if I can have it flush with the bezel trim piece then it would be nice to have it not be seen, and look a bit less aftermarket. I may not get around to it any time soon.

This reminds me, I need to get an aftermarket mic and see if I can pin it to work with the OEM 86 radio.

    Know if it'll work @empty_lord ?

Microphones are usually just 2 or 3 wires, whether OEM or otherwise. Number of wires depends whether or not it's balanced. I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to make it work.

Best microphone spot is left pillar at the top, clipped between the headliner and the pillar trim. I said it.

Mines at the windshield by the navigation indicator, I never used it because I’m not important enough to be talking while driving, and I’d rather listen to music

If I do for some reason take a call at work or something while driving, when I hang up, I feel like I just woke up from a narcoleptic nap; how did I even get here? Did I stop at lights?

there’s also this certain stop sign at work, that for some reason I thought I was at a light waiting for it to be green……… I’ve done it twice

That phenomenon happens anyway, once you have been driving so long it's quite automatic. Like muscle memory. But, Focus is diluted if you are talking to someone in the car or out. Amplifies it.
