    I figured you meant 6.5’.
Which is at least 10x more useful than the 6.2’ short beds.

Dropped off my thirds at the truck today. I am so curious to drive it now, new wheels, bigger tires, new gears, new injectors I haven't ever used, but she needs to hit the carwash and for sure alignment. If I only had some fox rear shocks she might be getting close to doneski on the mechanical stuff.

I too like the profile of the cover; much better than mine (and mine was ~$850). Very nice!

Not today, but I’ve been doing some cosmetic stuff to the truck.
I got all the parts for my valve covers except for the FIPG and it didn’t arrive in time for me to do it last weekend. Now I have to wait a couple more weeks.

I upgraded the taillight assemblies to the 05-06 version. Looks good, but the upgraded, super bright reverse bulbs I got are a little thick around the base and are inclined to fall out after a while. I taped one in there to see if that will hold it in better. no pics yet of them installed.

Then I spent a little time finishing my first attempt at wrapping the chrome on my grill. It came out about the same as the first piece; looks decent from 5 feet with the sun in your eyes. I like it a lot better than the chrome and I think it is a pretty close match to the gunmetal of my wheels.

Can’t wait! Gonna be good to be out on the tails with you and @des2mtn
Me and him somehow had a unspoken trail bond built upon dust of the wild horses. Seriously, we were hauling ass down some back desert roads, throwing up huge plumes of dust, he got on the opposite side of the road so I could take the less dusty path behind him with the wind sending it to his left. It was a silent; did we just become best friends moment!

I’ve seen plenty of wild horses, but never got to mob along side of them!

Thats a stretch but she does take good pictures. I am curious what you’d charge for detailing my truck as you did yours; that was / is impressive!

Though I prefer the flush look y’all are getting pulling the trigger on this one and selling mine just isn’t worth the trouble.

There's no amount of money you could pay me to go through that nonsense again :D But appreciate the compliment! If you're willing to put some money out on it and to make the drive, there's a place in Buckhead I can recommend. They wanted $900 to do mine. I wanted to spend that money on other stuff. They come highly, highly recommended throughout the industry.

Yes, I had a celebrity incident w/Jeffery, and I have pics of everything, including him on the scene, but I'm not posting anything online with him clearly in it, if anyone's getting paid for that kind of thing, it's going to be me :)

The gist of what we gathered in talking to him after the incident was, his Camaro SS needed service. He brought it in, and the dealership refused to give him a loaner, which I gleaned may've been due to discomfort with his appearance, age, race, or likely a combination of all the above. The dealership in question is full of assholes, I know it all too well. When they refused to give him a loaner, even for cash, he called a friend who brought him the paper money to buy the nicest Silverado on the lot, paid in full, just to prove a point I guess?

So he has this brand new, loaded pickup and he's doing 60 or more in a 35 on a 5-lane surface street with a 90" TV in the back, he said he was rushing to get to his apartment to install it with some specific urgency (I forget, but remember it sounded logical at the time). The 5-lane road we were on splits at one point, it'd changed pretty recently making the middle lane into a stop light lane. Here's a 2min scribble of the lane striping change that happened, note lane #3 specifically, see how it went from a full-speed lane forking left to a dedicated stop light lane that only supports 3 cars deep at the light before it backs up into the full-speed fork to the left ...

    upload_2022-4-19_10-56-16.jpg

Anyway, I'm taking some friends to lunch, and against my better judgment, knowing that fork changed and the risk of being rear-ended, I saw there was nobody else at the light, so I pull up to the stop bar at lane # 3. An older guy in an old Ford Ranger pulls up behind me. Not even 10 seconds passes from me pulling up to the light and I see this big red blur coming up on lane # 3 super fast and tell everyone in the car "INCOMING!", and a split second later he clobbers the guy behind me, shoving that truck into my car. Everyone had time to prepare and was physically OK. He had an entourage of two other cars tailing him and they made it out w/o incident, everyone stopped and got out.

Some douchiness ensued. I was filing a claim w/USAA on the spot and one of the guys in his entourage kept trying to make me put my phone away as I was taking pics, saying, "This is a celebrity incident, no pictures" which rubbed me the wrong way. When the cop arrived, he shut his buddy up and I continued taking pics. I'll say, Jeffery was actually a super-cool, really nice guy, but it kinda rubbed us all the wrong way when he had the nerve to tell me and the old dude - whose truck was clearly tied to his income - "If this was just one of y'all, we wouldn't need to get cops involved, I'd just pay you cash and we'd part ways" or something to that effect.

In a fun twist, turns out he failed to notify his insurance company about the truck, so they tried to reject my claim through USAA saying they weren't insuring him as a driver in this vehicle. USAA who had my car in the shop the next day, a rental, and a check in-hand for me, they ended up having to sue his company to cough up the funds. I didn't personally sue him or pursue any exploitive type of action against him, though I've had people tell me I probably should've seized the moment. My reality is, I'm not a f'n asshole, people in this country are too damn sue-happy as it is, and we all make mistakes. My life has been made miserable a couple of times by people taking advantage of my mistakes for their gain, and I'm not about to do that to someone else, regardless their wealth/status.

This was the aftermath, in some lower-res pics, guy in blue is the Ranger owner, that's my old Camry (this is from 2014). I do have higher res pics, including ones where it's very clear he was involved, but I'll keep them to myself. That's the red truck he bought in potato quality and you can get an idea of the force of impact looking at that Ranger's bedside, plus my trunk. The quote from Toyota South Atlante to repair my car was in the $21k-23k range. It was about a year old, and I was 2 payments away from paying it off.

@shifty` You should have tried rolling up a few feet when you noticed the red blur was going to hit the guy behind you. You may/may not have avoided the accident, but it probably would have been less damage. I've done that a couple times for guys locking up their brakes coming up on me fast at a light and it saved my bacon.

On the bike, i always stop to the side of the lane, and watch the people behind me. Not a pinch point i wanna be stuck in. And nobody is paying attention, Everyone is poking their phones, and the majority are on some sort shitty malfunctioning autopilot.

Hindsight 20/20, but believe me when I tell you, it was literally a split second. I barely got the word "incoming" out of my mouth and we were hit.

I had enough sense and response time to take my foot off the brake, that was it. I'm sure that one step helped the situation significantly, but you still see the outcome. Had I not done that, I suspect all three of us would've landed in the hospital.

To this day, I don't fully understand how the guy in the Ranger was up walking around like nothing happened. Adrenaline? Or maybe because he took a glancing blow, but his truck nailed me dead-center, so we took the force. Physics is not my strong suit.

Was cleaning out the garage today and found this little guy which most likely came from some furniture or kids toy that I had to assemble. Well it turns out it’s the perfect fit for the extended links. Got them nice and tight

FWIW, I have a full set of park tool cone wrenches. They aren't massively heavy duty but they are high quality tools and very slim, available in every metric size.

Of course my wrenching skills are 0 so they are just pretty wall art in the garage but maybe one day...

If you don’t want mind the slight loss in flex they’re great. My add a leaf on the 200k mile original springs seems to hold up fine around 7k lbs though

Same here, but mostly because I repack and true wheels for fun when I'm bored or pissed off. Park's tools are expensive as hell IMO, but not as bad as VAR these days. I've got their cone wrenches, their older discontinued TS-2 truing stand, discontinued fork straightener, dropout straightener, and misc other bits I've picked up along the way used. Rarely gets used, but one of those 'when you need it, damn nice to have!" Wouldn't mind getting my hands on some of their taps for pedals.

I think @txagg got the last one for AC/RC trucks. DC units are still available though! I added it to my watch list by accident the day I bought my AC unit, and they shot an offer to me today for $441, same price the new guy who posted paid.

Curious, did you leave the rear rails intentionally high so it sits above the tailgate like that? The better videos I saw recommended to get things barely finger tight, then push down on the rail and wrench the clamp the rest of the way down.

Damn! 10 pages back! Crackie is running schmoov after replacement coils and plugs.

Scmover than those Orion tech coil packs I took off. Ugh. All seems well so far. Will be doing an early oil change change since I drove almost 100 miles with a misfire
