I think mine are 16x7 too, right? ETA — they are of course 17s…

I’m wanting to step up to wider tires too. Thinking of the 285/70R17s would look really good with the rig.

Yes, if the parts are available.

OEM and TRD LSD's are this way as well.

Those are early 5gen trail wheels from a 4runner, somewhat rare because now all of them are black faced. But those are 17x7.5. I have them on our SR5 runner and I have a spare for the truck with one.

Yea these ones. Can you run big tires on these like the 285/70R17s? I’m assuming these have a better offset for our trucks.

Those should be +15mm offset IIRC. When I went to 0MM and 8.5", the combination pushed me out about an 1" on each side. (outside of wheel)

Ive seen dudes run that size on those, but most get spacers. I think it will hit the UCA without a spacer. I use to have a pair in that hyper silver and I still think they are the best oem wheels i have seen, but I never put 285/70r17 on them

I have this wiring harness from my Baja Designs Squadron SAE fogs that I didn't need to use because I just tapped into my existing fog light wiring. I should be able to use these connectors for my 3rd brake light on my Snugtop cap, right? There is just a molex hanging out there now, but these seem a bit more rugged and waterproof. I was planning on just tapping off the left tail brake light. I'm assuming the 3rd brake light on the cap works, I didn't try it. Out of energy for today. Will attack it tomorrow.

I soaked my belts in warm water with purple super clean. Did three 6 hour soak each belt until water stayed clean. It made a big difference. The silicone helped even more but then had a reverse effect by adding weight to a dry belt and attracting dirt. I need to do another soak without the silicone spray. Belts must be fully dry before letting them retract back.

I used this video as a guidance link: https://youtu.be/Ob0AJvTbR_k

The front bumper came off today, and the Amazon cheapo wiring harness came out along with the flush mount lights. The bumper is waiting for the local fab shop to have an opening. I did a really poor job cutting the 3" sexy laser-cut holes into the nasty jagged abominations you see below. The shop is going to sandblast the bumper and add some weld beads into the bad areas/fill in some holes. I haven't decided if I'm going to pay to let them do the cleanup work or if I'm going to try again. After that stuff, I've got a place lined up for powder coating. I'm planning on having the bumper powdered in black (although the thought had crossed my mind of getting them powdered in the same bronze/brownish color as my wheels).

Simultaneously, I've begun collecting parts for the GX460 front brake upfit. $200.44 OTD for OEM Pads/Rotors/Hardware, plus $147 for reman Calipers. I've got a buddy with a tool and die shop that's going to machine the calipers for me and give me a hand with the brake job. I'm going to have to check brake caliper clearance on my current wheels. All the posts I've read say you have to go 17s (I'm running 16s), but I've got my fingers crossed since I've got larger than normal spacers (1.5 as opposed to 1.25).

I could be wrong but I'm not sure spacers are going to create more clearance for bigger calipers. I thought all they do is push the wheel out.

If the 'bigger calipers' run the same (or very similar) sized rotors, the caliper itself can foul the back of the wheel faces more so than the inside of the barrel. In this particular instance, spacers will help.

Also, I've forgotten who's got the hissing intake, misfires on all 8, and lean codes on both banks, but that sure sounds like text book vacuum leak.
If you backfired through the intake and then all this began, a pushed out gasket, cracked hose, and a cracked manifold are all likely culprits. Time to get out the brake clean and start spraying.

Wired in the third brake light to the shell. Confirmed it works. I need to run a constant power for the dome light and bed lights that I want to install. I've got 4 conductors on the wiring harness I rigged up, so likely ground, 3rd brake light, dome light and switched bed lights. I just have the dome light tapped into the second conductor of the brake light. The gas springs on the back of the shell need to be replaced, I think. The glass was gross, but cleaned up well. Now I can see out of the back. Likely have too much tint. I've got the tint on the back window and both windows on the shell are tinted. Will live with it for a bit. I thought my rear window motor went out, but it was just a loose connector on the driver's door, thankfully. Applied silicone lube to the window channel. I got a bit of water coming into the front of the bed underneath the shell (by the cab) last night, so I'll have to address that before getting started on my camper build.

    Copy cat!

I would recommend some split loom on the wires. It won’t take long for vibrations to cut through that wire in the hole

I get tired of being asked wheel/tire specs, but I really like the look of those tires.
    285/70/17 or larger? Wildpeaks right?
