Yours is the standard clutch based LSD. Needs special fluid to be happy

I didn't pay much attention originally to them but the Kazuma is a Torsen LSD then? Appears so from the pic above.

Why not get a powertrax grip pro then? I picked one up and it's installed in my spare 3rd member, just gotta find time to swap 3rds.

My seatbelt looked dirty af before I started. I stretched it out so it would have as much tension as possible and just sprayed it. After spraying I let it dry and and put some PB Blaster brand silicone lubricant on it and it was perfect. I never tried to retract it after just pressure washing it only after the lubricant so I can't say for certain which one really did the trick. Guess the types of funk differ on our seatbelts or something.

Limiting myself to the TRD unit is mostly to make it harder to find so I’m less tempted to tear something apart I don’t really need to right now.

I still need an interior and to do the exhaust

The Kazuma LSD is an Eaton. If I remember correctly it has double the pretension of a stock LSD.

If it's preloaded then it'd be a clutch type. A quick online search showed it came with a tube of friction modifier, which also means it's clutch type.

Eaton did make the true trac which is a torsen LSD.

Yep. IIRC the original version was made by Tractech, which Eaton bought.

So is a torsen lsd the same thing as a lunchbox locker?

With all this talk of lockers and lsds for the rear, why does nobody ever swap the front also? That would make it even more capable, correct? I thought I saw something on ARBs website for a front locker.

Thinking about looking into color matched Sequoia mirrors. Seems to be abundant on eBay and the like. I’ve seen some mods to convert to power fold mirrors, but prob just stick with the 5 wire ones.

I remember reading that Kazuma and Eaton were both trying to get the contract from Toyota many moons ago and Eaton won it. I wonder if Eaton bought Kazuma too. Maybe that was folklore but I don't recall mine saying Eaton on it.

Toyota recommends conventional oil for these,, not synthetic. They do need a bit of Stalube friction modifier paste unless you use fluid that is meant for LSD. They will chatter if they don't have what they need.

Not sure if this is common knowledge, but silicone spray is what most treadmill companies advise you to use regularly to reduce friction of the belt across the chassis. But the one my better half put 10s of 1000s of miles on specifically told you to spray the plastics on the chassis with silicone, not the actual belt. The belt would pick it up off the plastics. You may want to hit the plastics also if not seeing enough from spraying just the belts.

Jack up the rear by the pumpkin and spin one wheel.
A LSD will spin both wheels the same way.
An open (or badly worn LSD like mine) will spin opposite, or only one will spin.

    **Truck must be in neutral.

Get a rag, a flashlight, and a socket wrench.

Put the rag on the floor under your pumpkin. Get the wrench and remove the fill hole on your rear end. This will expose your bunghole, pause to giggle. Now use your flashlight to look into your bunghole, pause to giggle again. Some fluid may drip from your bunghole but the rag will catch it. After you observe, put your fill plug back and compose yourself.

If you see gears you have an open diff. If you see the side of a metal cylindrical thing, you have the LSD.

Re-torqued the u-bolts after 50 miles. Also realized the ones from Torch were 110 ft. lbs not 74 ft. lbs like the OEM ones, so need to re-torque them right now to 110. Found a pair of KO2 takeoffs locally in 285/70R17. A little annoyed because I just got the Wildpeaks 1550 miles ago so I don't know. But also, my chance of selling the Wildpeaks are likely the best right now being as new as they are.

Just playing with this tire size comparison...

I still haven't finished yet. They need a thorough rinse. I'm going to try that with a bit of fabric softener. They are much better though, not new, but not stiff.

Ordered some parts, I assume these will probably discontinue eventually at the rate others are doing. (Access Cab window trim, all 4 mud flaps)

Mine are in perfect shape other than some fading, no cracking or peeling. Tempted to do rear window trim also but not in the budget.

Knowing my luck all this will go on sale 10% off or something this Friday.

Mine def has LSD, and I can get both rear wheels loose - almost bit me in the ass the first time I was in 2WD on the interstate and gunned it to get over. But I'll be damned if my truck sounds that good or feels as responsive as yours looks to be.

I was shocked to see if was $50/ea right now. Last time I looked it was more than $90. I'm not sure if that means stock is getting low and they're just trying to offload or what. Fleabay pricing is still in the $90+ range.

My advice would be to check out the dealer I've been using. Free shipping right now with coupon FREESHIP and these were about $30/ea off from standard MSRP.

    https://parts.toyotaofdecatur.com/

A lot of ppl push McGeorge here. Yes, McGeorge has lower pricing at the right site (they have 2). But Serra in Alabama won't charge tax & almost always has free ship.

Not only that, but their turnaround time on parts is typically less than 2 biz days, order-to-ship. May be longer due to turkey day, guess we'll see.

Plug in your VIN at their site. Go to the door section or search 'weatherstrip' against your VIN. You may be surprised.

EDIT: IMPORTANT NOTE @alb1k !! There are two pieces called "Door Window Belt Weatherstrip" for each door if you search that keyword :) The cheaper one ($27 for me) is the actual felt channel that goes in the upper part of the door frame, what your window terminates into while closing OR maybe it's the rubber wiper on the inside (probably the latter). The other is the trim on the outside of the door. Big distinction. Crazy how excited I got when I saw $27 :D
