At this point we all need to get the full brush guard Brute Force bumper! Can't afford to lose any Best Gens to deer.

Was going 50mph, jumped out in front of me and barely had time to hit the brakes. Hit em square.

Third run in with deer. First time I’ve hit one. Other two times they hit me. Once in an old BMW 525i, didn’t even dent the car. And once before in the Tundra. Got broadsided on the way to Memphis one morning and dented the drivers front and AC door below the trim. Got into the bed a little too. Insurance totaled the truck. I kept it and took the check. That was 4 years ago when a FGT with 250k miles on it was only worth $5k

Having never had a totalled vehicle in my name, I've always been curious on how that works.

Adjuster claims too much damage according to worth of the vehicle. They cut you a check.

You have to "buy it back" if you still want it?

I believe you only buy it back if you didn't own the vehicle outright before. When our Corolla was destroyed by hail my wife still owed a bunch of money on it. Insurance paid off the loan and then it becomes theirs. I then paid the insurance around $1,200 for the Corolla.

Having owned this truck for 16 years, it’s been paid off for 12. They decided the damage exceeded the trucks worth, or at least 70-80% of it, so they “totaled” the truck. Then they started talking crazy about sending a wrecker to pick it up at my house and to get my stuff out of it and they would send me a check. Has three dents in it from the deer and it’s totaled and destined for the scrap yard? Did they mistake it for a Dodge? Told em to call off the wrecker, I will be keeping the truck. Then they said I would have to pay the salvage value for the truck in order to get the check for what the truck is worth as a totaled vehicle. So I keep the truck, they estimated it was worth $5k or so in good condition (what they felt like the replacement cost would be, Ha) so I would get a check for $5k, and they would subtract the salvage value they would normally get paid for the truck (turned out to be $1185). So I got close to $4k and a bonded or salvaged title, although they do not do salvage titles in Arkansas.

I think speedcut was around 105-110. Wouldn't let me use the whole speedo :( .

If my lowered 99 Ford Ranger with no brush guard of any sort could survive a deer head on at 50mph and keep chugging for another year before I sold it (as a running truck), then I doubt we have much to worry about.

Ran over a deer last night getting home on the "red-eye" equivalent of the train. Luckily, no deer guts in the wheel well or on the wheel.

Couldn't get a taxi this morning at 1:30am to head to my folk's house to pick up my truck, so sadly I'll admit I pushed my 35 lb suitcase to their house in a shopping cart abandoned at the subway station. Some homeless guy is probably cursing me right now not finding his cart this morning.

I really need to sign up for uber or lyft.

Today was a good day. Slider fit in the morning. Leather seat install in the afternoon. Dropped off the shell for paint during the seat install after the driver side was done.

Anyone have a use for my old cloth?
