the Navigation is not very good in my opinion. Zoom in and get a description but too close....zoom out and plain vanilla with an arrow. You might as well be on Mars. What am I missing?

You are missing Maps, Google Maps.

No one is impressed with the factory navigation.

I just downloaded the Scout GPS app for free and then added the app to the truck...just in case you were wanting a decent GPS program that is free.

No, you miss took my sarcasm.

Google maps is an amazing free app for our phones. It works much better than the Toyota factory navigation. It's so good, I can't even imagine why Toyota offers their version as a premium option.

You have to pay to get it updated, while Google Maps is updated for free.

Many aftermarket systems will integrate with your phone, thus integrate with Google Maps to give you a very good experience.

The factory navigation works well, but no where as well as Google maps.

I have Scout and I just never use it.

Entering the destination address gets you only arrows and turn by turn, with no map visible.

    There’s no traffic info.

I just use Waze. On my phone.

I hate that you have to be at a complete stop to type in an address for the GPS. Even if there is someone in the passenger seat you still have to be at a stop.

I don’t hate it. It’s a bit quirky on some routes depending on where you live. I wish it would “learn” though; like if you adjust a route and then try the same trip a month later it suggests the previous route again.

I’d be a lot happier to use my NAVIGON app from my iPhone on the 7” screen though. Without having to do a head unit swap.

I have been using my phone. The voice recognition doesn’t know Southern drawl either. For a country that made the Walkman their Navigation stinks. I expected better.

Scout app is the biggest piece of crap ever developed. I would rather use a compass or navigate by stars than use the POS

GAWD, I really cracked up reading this thread...great info though, so I pulled my Garmin Zumo off my Bike and stuck it in my Tundra. Drag that the suction won't stick to the Tundra dash...hate sticking it on the windshield...but what the hell, works great.

Get the FRAC. Not only do you get a front camera, it allows you to input addresses while you’re driving.

It's on the list. Just need time, money, a place to install it, the knowledge of how to do.

I use it along with Google Maps, because the traffic updates are better/faster than Google Maps sometimes, at least when going through a dense city. I HATE that the orientation is always (clockwise from the top) north/east/south/west though.

No other manufacturers need you to download anything. I don’t like messing with my phone going down the road. Seems like Toyota could drastically improve the GPS. I have Google Earth and Waze and those are fine. I will shut up now and use phone. Maybe some computer whiz at Toyota will read this.

I have a question regarding the NAV system. I have always hated the half screen. If I touch mine it goes full screen but 3 minutes later it resizes to half screen. In the settings for NAV I have the full screen selected but it wont stay that way. Is my system functioning as intended or should it remain in full screen mode until you shut off and restart the truck once you have touched the map and it goes full screen?

interesting, honestly, I leave mine in half screen. I'll go full screen on the way home and let you know if it stays that way.

Crap. Mine has never held full screen for more than 3 minutes. Then it reverts back to half screen.

Yep, I verified on my ride home, mine stays full screen until I open something else. It defaults to half screen on start up

    It never ends does it?
Toyota isn't exactly setting the world on fire with their infotainment systems. I rode in a buddy's 2019 Honda Accord Touring and was impressed.

There is a setting that tells the system to automatically return to home screen. Think it is on second page of general settings. Uncheck that.
