Trucks actually do sell down here in Florida, I'm actually just north of Miami. We have the Everglades and other areas that people off road quite a bit. I purchased the truck lifted already about 3 years ago. The owner left it with his father when he left to flight school in California, unfortunately his father did not do anything to the truck other than start it and drive every so often. So I have been bringing it back to life with plans on keeping it but the misses has been driving it a bit more and has trouble parking it. That and we need a full size 4 door.

I lived in Miami years ago, and I know lifted trucks have use there but selling one like you have is going to be a challenge. Good luck with your sale.

I use Athens / Atlanta Craigslist often, my '07 and many of the accessories were found there cheap.

I would put it on CarGurus as well. Just be careful of the "click to buy" people that live 800 miles away...unlikely that'll work out.

I've had better results with CarGurus than Autotrader. For some reason, my experience was that every con artist in the woodwork comes out prospecting for marks on Autotrader. Frankly, for an older generic vehicle, you're really selling to the local market; i.e. someone that can come to your house (or agreed third public location) and actually inspect the car, like it and give you cash in exchange for the title. The old KISS principle.

On smaller items, we've had good luck with the Facebook Market. Someone suggested it above...maybe it works for vehicles too.

Edit: As others have said, convert it back to standard suspension. The old Tundra off-roading market is narrow...especially in Florida.

Edit: As others have said, be patient. I usually allow 3 months for a vehicle to sell.

If I didn’t have my first gen Tundra and I lived closer to you I would seriously consider buying your truck. If you can, and you’re not hurting financially, just give it more time. It will sell. IMO, Houston Craigslist is a joke when it comes to used vehicles. People present them a certain way, but in reality it’s a piece of shit. I looked at 2 first gen Tundras from Craigslist when I was hunting for one and they were pure trash. Use car gurus and auto trader.

A quick KBB search has it in the 6k range for my area. What were the low ball offers? Nobody is going to pay for that aftermarket stuff even if they do want it. I would take the lift off and get some stock wheels.

Quite a few have said to take the lift out and put stock wheels. I understand that the thinking but that would require an investment that would net me a bigger lose. I guess I will wait a little longer and if no action then iI'l send it to the dealer auction

I would consider keeping it before I took a big loss. How is a bigger "full size" going to be easier to park? I'm just trying to think of solutions here. It's an awesome truck but I agree you probably won't recoup the cost you've put into it.

The height is the problem for her. When you pull into a parking spot your kinda guessing when to stop, some cars almost disappear and you get out to see and your like a cars length away.

Not if you buy good slightly used OEM replacement parts to put on it, and sell off the parts, wheels and tires associated with the lift.

    1) Market the crap out of it.
    2) Park it somewhere with a ‘For Sale’ sign.
    3) Slash the price.
    4) Doing more work $$$ to sell it for less is stupid. Keep it as is and sell it. Slash the price.
    5) Whats the Mz. Going to drive?
    6) Put it on Facebutt. Use words like Toyota reliable/dependable/well maintained/service history available/etc.

Buy her a stereo with rear view camera mod! Cheap!

Win win. She gets an upgrade. You keep the nice truck and continue to improve it.

Sounds like you’ve gone far with it and its hard to let go. I know as I crossed that investment line and have a few years to get the return back. Plus, its a sweet truck that has done me right for many years.

Don't add conflicting info. Keep it clean and honest. Don't try to over sell it by adding additional key words etc.

I think throwing it @ $6999 OBO would bring more serious attention.

Keep in mind, a lot of people looking for trucks in this price range and year are not going to have credit to get a loan approval, or if they have good credit they will get a crappy APR % because of the year. From my understanding loans wouldn't even get accepted on model years that old unless it is a "classic".

So the majority of the people you will be dealing with will need the CASH upfront to pay for it. You are kind of stuck in a crappy price range. Most people with cash want to pay $2-5 grand. Anything floating close to $10k people would like to get loans, unless they have a hefty savings account.

I am upper middle class and if I had an extra $10k floating around I would be making it work for me with investments and not in the savings account. Just my honest opinion.

Plus, she’ll get half of what you make in settlement! Then she’ll be making 6 times what you make.

    Lol.
I have learned that the best way to keep a woman happy is to either make enough money or to get 1 that makes enough money to do whatever she wants. Hair, nails, shoes, purses, cars and whatever else. I may be wrong but once you remove the financials, the rest of the relationship is easy

Why can't you drive the truck and get her something else? If she makes all the money tell her to get a little Lexus.

I'm with you on my thinking. I have to put up more ads, right now it's on 2 free sites and autotrader. I have been tweaking the ad but I may have to re-write the whole thing and just keep it simple as mentioned in other posts.
The misses has a Lexus is350 convertible that is pretty nice but useless for any home owner and we have 2 house's and looking to buy a 3rd. We need a truck but didn't want to get in debt, 4 months of searching and we found this beast for 6k. I have about another 6 to 8k in it so far, I wasn't worried about the money cause the plan was to keep it for many years but....... We found the 2005 double cab for a very reasonable price and bammm here we are

Sounds like money is not an issue. Just hold on to it. If it sells quick good. If not, you guys can always sell a house and be ok (a joke I tell people when they have a financial matter bugging them... and then they get this look in their eye).

Money is always an issue. We definitely are doing better now than a few years ago but we are getting up there in age. We are trying our best to sacrifice where ever we can so we can get more apartments which would get 1 of us to stop punching that time clock. It hasn't been easy and from the looks of things it will not be easy to get to the next step. If you haven't purchased a 2nd home I will tell you this, it's considered an investment property by the bank so they want between 20-25% down payment. That's a whole lot of $$ for a time clock punching schlepper.
