I have my truck up for sale almost a month now. Random trade offers and an occasional low ball offer and that's it. I lowered the price twice now and no luck. Funny thing is I actually get compliments on the truck but no 1 with cash.
Question to you guys is open and honest, what am I missing?
Here is the Craigslist post and it is the same on autotrader and Facebook marketplace.

Well first thing is with creggsliss you get the goofiest people in the world trying to conduct business like its joke.

I liken that site to trying to Herd Cats as far as doing business after putting some items for sale about 8 years ago. I would not try selling there. I do like to look occasionally and its funny with some people selling their Trucks posting ‘No Lowballers’ or ‘Don’t Waste My Time Texting Offers... Call and Talk!’.

Anyways, try Facebutt Market Place as I’ve had good success there.

Hope the best $$$ for you.

Maybe people are turned off by your use of mis-used keywords in the description so that your ad is included in more search returns.

"Chevy Silverado Chevrolet GMC Sierra Ford F150 Tacoma Pick up pickup off road Jeep Wrangler built jacked"

Similar technique used by ebay sellers when selling knock-offs. If searching for brand-x, they would put "NOT brand-x" in the title or description so it would show up in the results of someone searching for brand-x.

Thanks for the input. Craigslist is a shell of what it use to be but you kinda have to go there. I actually placed the keywords about a week or ago, trying to get some action.

You also have to keep in mind that not everyone wants a truck lifted that much. I like it but it's not going to be what everyone wants. Definitely shrinks the potential buyer list.

It's a great looking truck though. Be patient.

I can tell you that mods are a very personal thing.

nobody knows how hard you actually offroaded that truck or how hard you stomped around the mall parking lot.

as a buyer a modded truck makes me want to look for anything that was chopped and butchered, followed by wondering how beat up the powerplant and drive train are from pushing bigger tires etc.

now if I'm looking at an exclusive off roading beat the shit out and never give a dam kinda truck then I would buy something like that.

so with that being said. yours is targeting a very niche group of people and wont jump out at Tom or Steve looking for a daily driving solution.

good luck with sale. it's a good looking truck

Agreed. It has gone down hill. It's a shame too. I haven't sold too much on craigslist, but I tried posting a set of retro-fitted headlights recently, and that got the attention of a scammer.

You could always advertise your truck (like some local cregsliss recently) as a Double Cab. Tricky people trying to work one over on other people.

Those 4 full door trucks really get peoples juices flowing.

Is it a 2001 or 2002? Both in add. Flag for me with conflicting info.
As mentioned, dont rely on CL or other free ads. I would use a paid advertisement, Autotrader works well in my area.

Try to target younger dtivers, 1st vehicle types, maybe hunting lease type.

    Good Luck!

This is good info Trooper. We get many young kids coming through here asking for help after buying used or their dad passed on the truck to them, then their A.D.D. kicks in.

Take it back to stock suspension. I wouldn’t buy because of the lift. Just my 2 cents... Beautiful truck though!

Like some have said, be patient, I know it’s hard. $7900 is a great price, if I was you, I would not go lower then $7500. Yes, you’ve made the truck “yours” but the way it looks is appealing to a lot of people. It’s jacked up, but in a good way:D You will sell it especially now that tax day has passed. Curious, I did not see it mentioned in the ad, when was the timing belt service done?

Previous owner claimed the timing belt was done at 110k. I didn't plan on getting rid of the truck and that's why I have done so much work and the timing belt was on my to do list for this year just to be safe.

Part of it is probably your surrounding area. 90% chance it would sell in about 30 minutes here in SENM, but I would guess the demand for trucks here is many multiples of what it is in Miami and that, combined with it being an AC, is going to make it a slow-ish sale. I'd say just be patient and keep renewing the ad. It's a good looking truck.

Pros: Great looking truck with a lot of extra work that would make someone a great vehicle. No one here would argue any different.

Cons: 18yr year old truck that looks a bit dated (to most buyers). Also, lift(s) make it look a bit un-practical (if that's a word).

Have you booked out its value without most of the mods? Realistically can't expect much more than NADA or KBB values. Maybe 20-30% of mod value could be added.
In our area there are a few consignment lots that do quit well selling vehicles for individuals, getting good prices for folks. Maybe ask around and see what they think.

That 2001 would be gone in a heartbeat here in Denver Metro. Especially with the snow finally giving way soon to awesome Rocky Mountain wheeling ....

You would need to find that one in a million buyer that wants a Tundra lifted the way you have it... I bet you would get more money out of the truck & kit if you restored the suspension to stock with stock wheels & tires, and sell off the lift kit, tires and wheels separately. As for Craigslist - keep the add simple and easy to read.

    Why are you selling it?
