    Also, measure the front seat length, post the window sticker, driving impressions, pretend you have to carry adults in the back and scoot the front seats up. Would like to know how the back really is.

    I may have put more thought in, with what I can swing with the best uses of my resources. Last I concluded was I could swing a Plat with BSM mirrors. But after reevaluating off of the same numbers if I did the SR DC with 8ft bed I could add a 4wheel camper slide in on a separate RV loan and come out only paying $3 more a month then the Plat. Now I am torn :rofl:why does math have to be easy and make you realize other awesome choices too.

    I originally wanted to wait for a Pro but then maybe thought a Limited or Platinum. On Wed I'll be test driving an SR5. There's a couple dealers that have them just for that reason. Meanwhile on Wed I bought a 21 Tundra Platinum Demo and also sold my Tacoma Sport Premium the same day. I'll see how the SR5 drives and decide when the Pro comes in I guess. Part of me still really likes the old style V8. I had sold my 2018 Tundra OR in November. It's like musical trucks lol

    I test drove a 2022 Toyota Tundra SR5 4x4 CrewMax (5.5’ Box) today.

    Specs:
    • Manufactured: 11/21
    • GVWR: 3270 kg (7209 lb)
    • GAWR FR: 1850 kg (4078 lb); GAWR RR: 1750 kg (3858 lb)
    • Cargo capacity: 635 kg (1395 lb)
    • Colour: White
    • 265/70R18 tires
    • Heated steering wheel.
    • Heated front seats.
    • Interior grab handles for all four doors.
    • Power driver and front passenger seats.
    • No sunroof and no electronic rear view mirror.
    Observations:
    • I drove the truck in 4X4 mode for approximately 40 km (25 miles) in snowing and blowing conditions at 100 km/h (62 mph) on the highway with some city driving. The wind was blowing from 32-41 km/h (20-25 mph).
    • Handling: Solid. The truck is large and in charge.
    • The wind and cross wind had minimal effect on the handling of the truck at 100 km/h (62 mph). I did not find the steering to be light.
    • Acceleration: Strong with some lag when punching it. The transmission shifted very smoothly. I look forward to comparing it to the hybrid’s performance.
    • Braking: Very solid feel and effective.
    • Cabin: Very quiet with zero wind noise or air leaks from the windows at highway speed with the crosswind against both the driver and passenger doors.
    • Large centre console with very comfortable and well-positioned arm rest.
    • Flat arm rest on upper door elevated and comfortable.
    • Dashboard centre control buttons for temperature, fan, mode, etc. are large and solid and easy to use wearing gloves.
    • Heated steering wheel was very warm around the full wheel.
    • Heated front seats were quick to get very warm.
    • Seating comfort: OK. I’d have to drive it for a longer period to determine whether it would be comfortable for any distance driving.
    • Rear seating: I’m 5’6” and it's not a shocker that I found the rear seating comfortable with a lot of space and plenty of legroom and headroom. I look forward to seeing how the Double Cab compares regarding the rear seating space.
    • Windshield visibility: Good. I didn’t have an issue seeing over the front of the truck.
    • Rear window: Defrost works well. The rear window opens and closes quickly and there was very little wind into the cabin with the rear window down at 100 km/h (62 mph).
    • Turning radius: Very good for a full-sized truck.
    • Truck height: Very good ground clearance. I will need running boards given my 30” sawed offs.
    • The cargo capacity of 1395 lb raises questions as I looked at a 2022 Tundra Limited 4X4 CrewMax (5.5’ box) on 23 Dec 2021 that was equipped with 265/60R 20” tires and the panoramic roof and its cargo capacity was 1400 lb.
    • Overall: I was impressed with the truck and I found it to look much better in person than via photos on the web. I'm interested in seeing how the GVWR and cargo capacity ratings are different with the Double Cab version and the hybrid version as I'll be towing a 25' travel trailer (850 lb tongue weight; 6500-7000 lb total trailer weight; two occupants - 320 lb).

    I test drove a 2022 Toyota Tundra Limited 4x4 Double Cab (6.5’ Box) on 24 Jan 2022.

    Specs:
    • Manufactured: 11/21
    • GVWR: 3315 kg (7308 lb)
    • GAWR FR: 1850 kg (4078 lb); GAWR RR: 1750 kg (3858 lb)
    • Cargo capacity: 675 kg (1490 lb)
    • Colour: Celestial Silver Metallic
    • 265/60R20 tires - Bridgestone Dueler H/T
    • Heated steering wheel.
    • Heated and ventilated front Softex seats.
    • Interior grab handles for all four doors.
    • Power driver and front passenger seats.
    • Power moonroof and power sliding rear window.
    My observations are very similar to my observations noted during my test drive of a 2022 Toyota Tundra SR5 4X4 CrewMax (5.5' box) on 04 Jan 2022 as per my post #249 above. In addition:
    • The Limited Double Cab has increased GVWR and Cargo Capacity over the SR5 CrewMax. I believe 1490 lbs cargo capacity with the Double Cab would be enough for the 25' travel trailer (7500 lbs. GVWR) I'll be pulling but I'll wait for the official hybrid specs before making a decision as to which model will work best for me.
    • I'm 5'6" and I had approximately 4" inches of room between my knees and the seat back when I sat in the second row. The second row would work for smaller passengers sitting behind me but it could be tight for longer trips.
    • The Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires broke loose easily in slippery road conditions when in two-wheel drive, which wasn't a surprise. Four-wheel drive was much better. I'll likely look to replace the factory tires with Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires when I decide which model will work best for me.

    Quick question, I didn't think the double cab was available with a pano roof and sliding rear window? The one in your pictures doesn't. I thought those were only available on the crew max?

    It has the smaller moonroof and not the full panoramic roof. It also has sliding (horizontal) rear window rather than the full opening (perpendicular) rear window.

    OK, I get it. Sorry about that. I keep forgetting that the back window isn't manual like it is on my Tacoma. And, I was asking because according to the manual the SR5 double cab 4X4 comes with only 10 lbs more payload. I was surprised that the one you checked out had 1490. But, like you said, it has an increased GVWR.

    Thanks for the info regarding the SR5 Double Cab 4X4 payload information. I prefer the Limited Double Cab over the SR5 Double Cab given the additional creature comforts while only losing 10 lbs. in payload capacity. I'm looking forward to seeing the hybrid GVWR and payload specs to see how they compare to the gas Double Cab and CrewMax.

    New to the forum, hello everyone

    I just test drove a beautiful 2022 Limited and really like the way it felt. Fast but agile. Two things I did not like though were:

    - I would have loved the seat to be longer. Now, I am 6'7 so I do have that problem a lot. Usually I can compensate this by tilting the seat portion upwards so it becomes comfortable enough, but these seats wont tilt (on my X5 and ML for instance). Did not try the backseats, those are for the kids (who are smaller now but my boy is expected to hit 7ft lol

    - the middle piece on the armrest: I kept bumping my elbow onto the hard plastic and I really did not like it. I know, we tall people have our own share of problems

    I really want to like it so keep making excuses to justify this. Maybe I have to give it another test drive before pulling the trigger. Decided to test drive the F150 Tremor and an AT4 as well. Drove a RAM once and really like the comfort.

    The thing is though.. Toyota, resale value, reliability (well, you guys know)

    Never owned a truck before so I am so excited when we are able to pull the trigger.

    Ideal version: Limited TRD OFF ROAD, 6.5 bed, Lunar Rock, 35 tires on it. Take the grill off, bring it to a paintshop and have them spray it in Lunar Rock (I seriously hate chrome)

    Here's what I want and here's what I'll settle for

    Want: SR5 4x4 Crewmax, TRD Sport (no premium) flexible on the bed length (I'm not sure if the 6.5 bed is available on the Sport) no other options other than the big tank and floor mats. Silver.

    Settle: SR5 4x4 Crewmax, no other options other than the big tank and floor mats. Ok, maybe the TRD wheels. Silver.

    Dark Horse: SR 4x4 Crewmax, tow package

    I'm not in a hurry, I can wait.

    Interested on the payload on that 4x4 SR, around 1500-1600lbs? Looks like SR only gets the 22 gallon tank?

    I finally found the 22 Tundra I wanted, just have to wait more for it to be built and delivered since I wanted a CrewMax 6.5' TRD Off Road

    I think the grill looks like the guy on James Bond movies … I’m going to hang on to the 2016 for another year , I never buy the first year of anything .
    I just bought a brand new 2022 4Runner TRD Pro at my local dealer … they want my Tundra but I am not impressed with the new tundra except the boxed frame and they went with the land cruiser like rear suspension 4 link system is pretty cool for those hardcore off-road guys but those who haul and tow the leaf spring was and is a better option .
    That truck offers me nothing .

    I am sitting this one out with 2022 year tundra out .

    This is what I want in a nutshell. When you build one, Sport is not available with the 6.5 bed. I really want the bigger bed to justify trading in my current CM. I want the sport for the color match pieces and wheels, would like the PVM. The TRD OR wheels in 18" are hideous. Great in a Limited but you lose the cubby on the passenger dash. Also I want the LED DTRL, only available on limited and up. I could probably settle for an SR5 with a few options and the paint/wrap/swap stuff in time.

    The TRD OR 18s grew on me after seeing them wrapped in 295/70-18 tires (~34x12). Maybe the Tundra being black helps to. Pic is pulled off Instagram so its grainy
    I would probably paint these wheels satin black while switching to larger tires.

    Toyota really did miss some things, here's a blatantly obvious miss. Anyone have details on what needs to be done to put the TRD skid plate on a TRD OR?

    EDIT: a local dealer selling the TRD skid plate separately told me there should not be any limitations on which trim level it fits, according to the sheet he had.

    I am leaning towards Limited Trim with 6.5 bed. But Toyota's confounding limitations on equipment and color combinations makes the choice difficult. I'd prefer the Limited DC with the high end PVM and options package. But that can only be had in silver color, not my 1st choice. I can get that option package with CrewMax and have more color options, but unfortunately not Lunar Rock, which would be my first choice. But that color requires the OR package which I don't need. So if I had to pull the trigger today, it'd be Limited, CrewMax, 6.5 bed with high end "PVM with options" package in wind chill pearl or mag gray. But I don't intend to pull the trigger today. I will wait to see if Toyota relaxes some of those constraints later in the year... and of course I am waiting to see how the hybrid tests and prices out. No rush...

    CrewMax 6.5 bed caught my eye. I'll wait at least a year though. I'm still digging my 21!
