Yeah, there's a group running that trail! Looks full, but there will be more trail leaders closer to the actual meet. Some people are just nervous of leading haha

Also several people doing a day run only, no camping.

Sounds like a possible plan for a little meet if others are interested? How technical is the trail? Most of the members like to bring the family out.

So I'm too much of a newbie to lead anything, but if that's what it takes for this to happen then so be it.

I've been curious to check out the Ortega Hwy area. Anyone familiar with South Main Divide or something that gets us up Santiago Peak? https://www.dirtopia.com/wiki/Main_Divide_Road

I figure this is an option that works for OC-ers, 909-ers, and SD-ers (only one of those is actually a thing). I'm down with bringing family once I know what the hell I'm doing. I'd rather keep it tame and just put names to faces this trip.

(If this fear of pin-striping gets out those bullies from TX will destroy us!)

I think Heartbreak Ridge is more serious than most of us are ready for.
Somewhere else I read that White Mtn. is less accessible than it used to be. Anyone been on it this year?

Is 3N16 called the 'forest freeway' because it's so easy Gump could do it? Or because of the trees (and branches)?!!

Heartbreak Ridge is probably too technical, especially for a big booty Tundra! May I suggest we meet up in Green Valley Lake, take Crab Flats Rd. 3N16 out to Big Pine Flats. From there we take Coxey Truck trail 3N14 out towards White Mtn. or stay on the Forest Fwy. 3N16 all the way till it ends just north of Baldwin Lake and back to Hwy. 18. Lots of great places for lunch. Great vistas. Easy 2wdoable.

Kudos to you for stepping up to the plate lol

We aren’t worried about them TX members lol but I’m down for war if it comes to it lol :curls: we have a lot of newbs with stock trucks. That’s why we try to keep the runs fairly simple. We go more for the fun with our family and friends and to get out in the dirt

Yeah I was looking at some YouTube vids of heartbreak and they have some spots that a stock truck will struggle with. Your the big bear expert Paul. Crab flats sounds like more in our newb wheel house.

Also White Mtn. is much easier when run from east to west. It's all downhill so it's not that bad.
If y'all are serious then let's make it happen. I'm retired so anytime is usually good for me. When is a good time for you Marty? You name the date n I'll be there.

Keepin' it simple, I'm down. I'm afraid my timing is an issue: I'm booked solidly through August. Let's tentatively shoot for second weekend in September, Sat the 8th? Earlier the better for me.

Anyone -- I mean anyone -- that wants to lead this thing, PM me. I can organize, but I'm more likely to lead us off a cliff until I get a little green off these horns. Big Bear is a bit far, but I'm down if that's what the people want.

Should we limit this on the number of rigs? (Me thinking out loud.)

I’ve done white, it was a blast! I’d be game for that! Got a group campsite last time to keep the cost down and keep the whole group together. Yellow post would be ideal, but not guaranteed.

I also want to do gold mountain for anyone wanting more a challenge the following day maybe?

Um. The problem is, once @Marty McFly agrees to come, the entire Olde Hollywood Guard & Entourage kicks in. (His publicists have a phone tree.)

While we're still doing easy trails, and building our Tundras.com SoCal connections, I don't know if we have to limit the total number (yet; that's coming, for sure)...

BUT we definitely should designate more than one team leader in case we get crazy big turnout (which happened last time), and also designate separate radio channels for each group (last time, our conga line got so long, comms broke down front to back when a few stopped to play on a hill along the route.) Those are my suggestions, if you take this on. (Read to me like BestGen worked out a good route, and I think he offered to lead...?) But whoever wants to coordinate, it's easy to set up a new thread, similar to:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/1-20-day-trip-lower-coyote-canyon-trail-anza-borrego.20028/

    Or

 Living that good life Paul! August is going to be tough for me as well. I’m going to be shit deep in work (audit season :censored:) Not a hard date but Sept 8th might be doable. @sdde4n

I’ve gotta look at what’s coming up but I’m thinking Sept 8th might be an available Saturday.

Camping would be cool but I’m thinking day trip for now.

Okay, let's take this offline, the five of us, until plans are finalized. Too many cooks are gonna turn this into a Charlie Foxtrot right quick.

McFly, Sunnier, EccRacer, and Nishi, stay tuned.

You guys are overthinking this. Just announce a time, have @BestGen lead, then sit back and watch like 50 trucks show up like the last one. Lol. That was awesome :smokertransformer:
