VLED Cargo Lights - Key Fob Issue

I'm also running 5500k VLEDs for my interior lights

 

Did VLEDs ever get the new product on their website? Any additional testing? I’m on the fence about a remote start but cant seem to spend the money with the intermittent key fobs. Thanks everyone

I have them ordered, but they are telling me it will be the middle of March.

 

Haven’t got lights for my Tundra interior yet but I did install some VLED 5500k map lights in my wife’s pilot. All I can say it’s amazing how much of a difference it is. Also the 5500k looks great. I’ll definitely be buying more lights from them.

 

Have folks received the new 921 bulbs yet? The prototypes have been working great!

 

I just received a shipping notice that my cargo bulbs shipped today.

 

Can you post a link to the new and improved one. My precision LEDS are dope but the interference is annoying.

well thanks to this forum I guess I know why my fobs are intermittent..... Now do something about the FM radio interference

 

I was drawn to this post because I swapped out my cargo lights and I had the key fob issue. I didn't know what it was at first until reading here. But now I'm not convinced any certain cargo light fixes it. I think it's more a combination of lights between the cargo lamps and the 3rd break light, or maybe just the break light that interferes. If I try a pair of cargo lamps and have the issue, all I have to do is pull the break light and it's fine. Which is weird because the break light isn't on when I'm testing this. And from my test all lights work with the stock stop lamp. Right now I have found a combination that is working as expected from jdm astar. 2 of these ( https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/332435192463) in the cargo lights and this( https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/113281455846 ) for the stop lamp. I don't k ow enough about Leds to know why but I tried a bunch of different combos and like I said they all work with out the stop lamp plugged in and some stop lamps make all not work and others work well with all cargo lamps. ‍♂️

 

I ordered a set of VLEDs 5500k bulbs for my cargo light (2020) a couple of weeks ago. I noticed issues right away. I contacted VLEDs (great customer service BTW), and they are going to send me a new pair after production run with fix. (~beginning of March). I guess after I contacted them, they tested lights they had in stock; apparently there was some RF interference. Not sure if the 2020 has another issue or if the fix in 2018 wasn’t installed on these bulbs. Either way, working with VLEDs was a breeze.

 

Do we have an update as to whether or not this issue was fixed with the replacements? Thx

 

Replacements wont be available from their manufacturing process until beginning of March. I'm in the hold pattern right now.

Glad I started reading this thread before ordering VLEDS cargo and 3rd break light bulbs for my 2020. I'm assuming this interference might also effect trying to remote start/lock/unlock through the Toyota connect app?
Is the interference issue only for the cargo and 3rd break light because of the antenna being right there or is there interference with other bulbs such as the reverse lights, break lights and any of the interior lights?
Someone also mentioned LEDs causing interference with the FM radio, is this common? As much as I would like a nice set of LEDs all over my interior, I would rather have an FM/XM radio that actually gets stations.
I know when I had a remote starter put in my 07 4runner years ago my AM/FM radio signal was horrible after that, I certainly want to avoid that with my 2020 Tundra.

 

I have the 921 VLED third brake light bulb and no issues but went with Phillips extremes for the 921 cargo lights. No issues for me.

 

Using auxbeam Amazon for all my interior and cargo bed lights. Fob range is limited when bed lights are set to on or auto. If I turn them off, my range is awesome.

I just turn the bed lights to OFF and manually turn them on when needed.

 

I wish I would have read this thread before I bought some ibright LEDs for the cab and Cargo light. I thought it was funny that the fob wasn't working. Thought it was the battery and I've only had the truck 8 months (brand new). Change battery and tested with spare key. Same issue. I may need to get the LED lights that have the fix. It's the beginning of March 20. Anyone know if the company above created lights with the fix yet? Thanks!

 

Did you hear back from VLEDS on the new bulbs? I've been having the same issue with my 2020. If not I'll reach out to them.

 

Bosscib - I got iBrightatar LED bulbs. I found out in another thread that the cargo LED bulbs interfere with the signal with the fob. If you disable the cargo lights from coming on, the fob should work. I tested it and it worked. I kept mine on because I like it lit at night forsafety. I emailed iBrightstar and they verified thesignalcauses issues with fob. Good luck!

 

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like VLEDS was working on another version of their LEDs to prevent the interference.

 

evening all,
looks like I will be the first, waited until the VLED's were available in the 921, 5500k 36 white in the 2018+ for the cargo lights. Ordered the 921 6 led for the 3rd Brake to match the Brakes at the bed. The 20% off made it easier to get by the Ms. should be here by the 20th. Will let everyone know my first impressions.

 

Got the new VLEDS for the third brake and cargo lights today. Had to wait till their release for the 2018+. Installed and they are bright. No issues with the key fob working. Walked up the drive and still had control of the lock and unlock with the key fob with the lights on and brake lights lit. All of the brakes appear to have the same brightness across the back. Pleased so far. Good Luck, am interested if later trucks work as well. Will post picts if needed.
