Did you spray anything like water or a diluted solution on the bumpers when you wrapped them? I have tried to wrap mine and that is the only thing I didn’t do. Thanks for any advice

Nope, I cleaned them off with a spray detailer with a microfiber for dirt and bugs and finishes cleaning them with half rubbing alcohol and half water

I have the inferno color truck, but I am thinking of going with a matte black for the wrap, give it a two tone orange and black look. Any thoughts?

I haven't had anyone get back to me on that color so far
Its all about personal preference, I like all color matched due to everything I'm going to do to my truck but I like black for a more off-road look

    Awesome work!
That's the same wrap I used.
To date, I've done my front corners, good bulge, mirrors caps, door handles. I currently have the rear bumper disassemble to do the rear corners (while figuring out where I'm going to mount my BD S2's in the bumper).
I may be stealing that third light idea!!! Mi wikie!

What's the best brand for white vinyl wrap for bumpers and color?

What @MGMTUNDEE said. Just clean them real good.
I'm a bit anal about cleaning once starting. I actually disassembled my whole bumper and washed them with degreaser and dawn. It was part of a bigger project where I was cleaning out the rad fins, and installing some BD Squadron fogs. I used a scotch pad on the inside edge of the end caps (since I wrapped the vinyl all the way around). There was some kind of residue on the inside of the metal; I assume from the chroming process. Once cleaned, I wiped them down with some 90% alcohol and microfiber towel.

I think 3M makes a close match for the white.
I used the Oracal. I read some good reviews about it and it had the closest match to MGM.
You might be able to Google search "Vinyl color match to your paint code".
That's what I initially did to find the Oracal.

That’ll look awesome, I’m going to switch my grille, hood, roof, and tailgate to matter black. Just don’t over stretch or over heat matte films or they will turn to gloss really quick

3M 1080 and Avery Dennison SW900 both have gloss white that matches super white well.

It’s been a while since I’ve used oracal 970RA, mostly when I was learning how to wrap because I knew oracle for all their other materials. I now prefer to only use Avery SW900 and 3M 1080. 3m has a greater initial tack that makes fixing small mistakes and getting setup a little less forgiving than Avery. Much harder vinyl to work with but quality is great on both.

Check out metrorestyling.com for literally every possible color and brand of wrap film. If anyone needs wrap work in CO, let me know :). Good luck to all you guys, patience and clean clean clean is key. Stay out of the sun, the wind, and the cold. Keep it at 50-70° and you will not struggle as much. When vinyl gets cold, it breaks.

So I take it vinyl wrapping isn't like applying tint then.........it has to be applied dry, not with a soapy water solution? I wouldn't mind having my chrome bumpers body color, but if vinyl has to be done dry, I won't even try and attempt it myself.

Yea it is made to apply dry, but it also doesn’t function like tint or typical craft vinyl. It has a special adhesive that doesn’t stick on first contact. It’s pressure activated and repositionable. I wrap a bunch, but I can’t tint for my life, if that tells you anything.

If you apply wrap vinyl wet, you risk the chance of having moisture trapped in the air release and evaporating after a few days to leave bubbles all over the place. You are correct tho, just anything with air release should be applied dry. I try to only use air release vinyl though because it saves me so much time and effort.

Anybody know of someone in the Norcal area that does what DecalsByDesign does? I want to get all 4 of the plastic pieces that house the window switches done. I tried it myself, but I cant get that curve in the front to look good.
