Victory Roof Rack Safety Warning (please read if you have an over-cab rack)

Wasn't there someone on here who was having problems with getting his sensors to fit into a victory bumper? I could be wrong...

What a bummer. Seems up to par with their failed customer service. Lesson Learned, At least we know exactly whos product not to buy.

 

Contributing with my own experience. I just installed a Sherpa Roof Rack on a 2nd Gen Tacoma. So, pretty different situation, but some common problems -- and going though this channel actually helped me quite a bit to finalize the installation.

I agree with TwoWheels in the sense that drilling the roof is much harder than it is suggested by the roof rack sellers' documentation and videos; mistakes can happen; and documentation about such mistakes and prevention/solution is quite unstructured and disorganized among the different sources. I also agree with others who say that DIY entails some risk, and I consider myself as an unexperienced learner who can make mistakes and dirty job.

My main personal takeaway is: I should have removed the headliner before drilling anything. Sherpa mentions it on their website (not on their install doc), but you are never too sure about if it is a nice move or a must-do. In my case, I eventually had to do it anyway -- and I would have saved a lot of time, energy, and worries, just by beginning with it.
