So I was told by many to ice right after to keep the swelling down. I had it on full time and my wife said I don't think you have to keep them frozen. Me I'm like I'm not taking any chances but I called the nurse she laughed at me LOL. She said ice but not 24/7 :)

Do it. Worst part is the 3 months post where you still have to "be careful" before you get the clearance to point and shoot!

The meds are good. Take both pills 10 mins prior to walking into the waiting room.

Had it done, only had to do one side, cancer took care of the other. I'll do the vasectomy ten times over the complete removal.

That's the point - it wasn't broken. It wasn't broken to the point that despite taking other measures I still had another kid.. Which was of course a huge blessing and among the top 3 best things to ever happen in my life.

It wasn't broken so I got it broke.

In this case, if it's already broken, don't medically break it?

Was lucky to have c-section deliveries for my two. Wife and I had discussed prior to the second child being born....about getting her tubal ligation "since they were already in there."

Luckily both kids were healthy, and we are still married and we are good to go with not having any more kids. Best part is I get to play like Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars and let her rip without worry and without having the need for that vasectomy in order to do so.

Plenty of coworkers have had it and input is similar to what you have already read.

    Good luck with things!

Wife's working on our first and we'd like to have another within a couple years of the first. I'm thinking about getting this done after the second one, though, since my wife can't be on the pill.

Had mine done about 5 years ago. Really makes married sex life better. I never had any issues recovering and have never experienced any discomfort or pain. My doctor made me and my wife sign a form. Apparently there are husbands out there doing this without their wife’s consent/agreement.

Food for thought on this subject and I'll say from the start this is my understanding I'm not saying it's absolute fact.

For the females portion to carry the birth control as I understand.
The pill while works for most women it is problematic, first they have to remember to take a pill for most of their life (not a big deal? wait until you have to when you get older it sucks).
Second it's a hormonal thing and really fucks with them physically and mentally some more than others.
Third having their tubes tied is very invasive when compared to a vasectomy. Once I understood all this it made the decision that much easier.

If I can find a good woman who also doesn't want to have kids I'll be scheduling the ol' snip snip procedure without hesitation. The only reason I don't just do it now is because I may fall for a woman that wants kids and I don't believe I have the right to deny her that opportunity. Pretty sure being a dad would be amazing, but the world's so messed up that it scares me to death. It's a selfish reason for me.
The burden, side effects, and risk for women are too great when the alternative for me is so low risk and simple. I'd do it in a heartbeat so the woman I love doesn't have to worry.

    I believe it.
Raised my sister's kids for a few years, so I do have some experience with it, but everyone says it's different with your own. Loved those kids enough I was going to pursue custody if she didn't get her shit together. She did and all is well on that front.
Only ever met one woman that made me wanna be a dad. Fell in love with her 2 kids and wanted to have a family with her. I attended her wedding last year, so can't see myself being keen on fatherhood in the foreseeable future.

Had it done and then ten years later the wife says she really wants another kid. Ah...oh well. That didn't go over all that well. Went and had the pipes replumbed and am still shooting full up rounds.

Ditto.. well done, boys! I couldnt scroll by and not read this post. I dont have the dude-gingerbread but the descriptions still made me cringe. o_O
I went and got spayed back in 2016. The surgery was an hour, recovery was about a month, and had a couple of years of severe abdominal pain after that finally eased up. They found endometriotic cysts while they were in there fishing around, meaning I was basically unable to have kids to begin with, and the tube clips irritated it for awhile. Back to normal-ish now though. Worth it.

Husband and I are happy as hell without kids and he didnt have to get a giant needle shoved into his nutsack.

My wife and I could have biological children, but felt called to adopt...
    three times....from China...
Why bring more kids into a hell-ridden world when so many already need a home!?
I tell you what...these girls ARE my flesh and blood! Love them dearly!
After #1 came home my wife suggested the big V. I procrastinated...
After #2 came home my wife not only suggested...she booked the appointment for me. No regrets.
    My advice?
    - Do it on a Friday
    - No matter how good you feel, stay flat on your back for the weekend with intervals of frozen bags of peas on your goodies...my macho brother went out in his tree blind the day after and on the third felt like he had his nuts in a vice and said they were black and blue. I warned him...
