for only a few minutes of pain, think about all the carefree years of "leaving it in" ahead of ya. :muscleflexing:

as most on here have said, i don't regret it one bit.

Shoving things up peckers isn't fun on the receiving end either..
My 'former' urologist shoved a 1/4" metal tube up mine with nothing more than a gel of some kind to remove a ureteral stent.
Dug around my bladder trying to find the stent and then ripped it out, stent and tube.
Second worse pain I've ever experienced, just second to the kidney stone pain.

    Of course I changed doctors.
All my other (several lithotripsies) stone surgeries they left the stent with a suture attached to it coming out and taped to the tip.
After the appropriate healing time I pulled it out myself, as directed.

As to the vasectomy, I guess I got mine in 2000 or so.
No regrets at all, just follow healing suggestions already posted.
Take it easy for a day or three.
Keep a couple bags of frozen corn in the freezer to cool 'em down.
Don't have sex until the doctor says you can have sex.

When I met my current (and final) wife in 2006, we had a discussion (in bed) about sex, birth control, and condoms.
I told her about the vasectomy and she literally jumped out of the bed and started doing a happy dance.
She knew then should could stop taking birth control pills and no sweating out mistakes at the end of the month.

Best part is that after the healing period it’s medically required to ejaculate at least 30 times to clear out the pipes.

Yep! Me too, one boy one girl. I had a boss, who had 5 girls still trying for a boy, who knew I got one and had me on my feet all day running errand for him. Got home and had to be on ice for hours :D

Many yrs ago, after 3 kids and 2 aborts, wifey said get snipped or no more Nookies. I held out for about 2 months and then conceeded. was told to shave below waist, but the nurse had to finish up. could have had a nicer looking nurse, but.....
worst part was the needle to numb right in the sack. after that all was good. my cold pack ruptured somehow in the middle of the night. freaked me out until i figured out what had happened. Do it for the right reasons and remember it can be reversed if you state it up front that you want that option.

    Nope.
After 3 buddies getting it done, and 1 of them now suffering 2 years later of painful complications (during intense orgasms) I told the wife sorry, but I’ll just pull out and make a nice bellybutton bath (she didn’t like how the BC screwed with her hormones).
She got fixed herself recently. Woot woot!

Had mine done after my second son was born back in ‘95. Couple a days with the nads chillin on ice and I was gtg. A big part of the reason was my wife didn’t do well with the side effects of the pill. It’s a much simpler procedure for men so I sacked up(pun intended)and had it done. 20 minutes and it was over. Probably the biggest benefit is the spontaneity of not having to worry about anything. Do it anywhere, anytime!

I got snipped about 16 years ago, was divorced and dating at the time, it was reassuring and easier. No regrets at all.
My present partner of 10 years has gone through menopause and no longer any pregnancy risks but it was great when I needed it.

I got mine done almost 10 yrs ago. Its about 25min in and out. Felt good after a couple days. Every now and then i will get phantom groin pain in that area, but its not bad and you power through it. Place I went did a needle less injection and that was the best part.

The best part is the sizzle when they cauterize you - its like the world's tiniest pan of bacon just sizzling away.

I had mine done on Saturday, flew 2500 miles on Monday morning. It was uncomfortable but not horrible.

I drove myself and wish I had brought my wife - driving home i just wanted to open my legs and relax.

You guys are awesome for doing this so your significant others don't have to have the much more risky Tubal ligation, which puts us at risk for ectopic pregnancy, which as most of you know can be fatal. I am sorry Mother Nature made your parts so much more accessible....

Buy a couple bags of frozen peas and you will be just fine in a couple days!

Lots of us have posted silly things about it. This is my serious answer.

The most sucky part was the injection in the testicles. The surgery itself is painless and recovery is, well, a bit uncomfortable. Mine felt like I'd been hit in the junk at first but that went away pretty quick. Just chill at the house for a couple days and you're fine.

It's worth it in the long run, especially if insurance covers it and it costs you all of $5 like mine did.

Mine wasn't bad at all, had it done about 2 years ago. My doctors office required I schedule a meeting with the doctor first to discuss the procedure. What sunk in the most for me was after we discussed everything, he provided me a paper with everything on it asked me to read and then sign it. I found that reading it resonated more then just having the conversation. The procedure was quick about 5 mins a side. On a side note, the doctor made me very relaxed with Valium and some comic relief. He came into the room with a 6 pack saying that I was the entertainment he brought the beer. At the end when I was leaving he gave me the beer, only to find out it was 6 root beer. :)

    Good luck!

I second the frozen peas!!! Take is easy for several days...even if you "think" you feel fine. No yardwork, tinkering with the Tundra, heavy lifting, etc...

The first 48hrs are the critical to rest and then you are good to go. The more you ICE and rest the 1st two days, the quicker you will be right back to normal.

BTW... getting snipped improves married life 10X.

All juice, no seed. My doc's assistant handed me the handle for the laughing gas and said "get as high as you want" - *HOLD MY BEER* - If you've ever done a whip it, it's like that. I was spinning in my chair.....not like a drunk, unfun spin, more like a YAY ROLLERCOASTER type spin. Before I knew it, it was over......got my shirt....girl drove me home and cooked me steak. Easy as pie.

It's called Post Vasectomy Pain Syndrome. Happens to 1-2% of men who get a vasectomy. Lots of example stories at www.reddit.com/r/postvasectomypain

I had it done at 27. Very quick, pretty painless. Barely registers in my memory at this point. What I remember most is the doc complaining about the newly implemented "Obamacare" rules. It is a decision I would make again if I had to do it over. Even eight years later my wife still voices concern about getting pregnant accidentally again, so you can maybe imagine how she was before the procedure.

While my maturity put this off a lot longer than it should of it was a good decision. Having my wife continue to carry the burden of birth control after having our two kids knowing we were not going to have any more was stupid.

As for the procedure, god I wish they would of put me under, you don't forget that "tug" feeling. They put micro clips on me so technically not snipped.
