It’s just the old Roomba. My wife let me keep it when she got a new one. Really sucks.

This was a good read. I agree with the sentiment that possessions aren't worth dying or going to jail over. I carry a gun to defend the lives of myself and those around me. It is not an offensive tool.

I would hate to use deadly force, but to be perfectly honest, they should not have broken into the guy's house and attempted to steal his car...

    My two cents...
Few years ago we had been out all day and arrived home late. Kids asleep so the wife and I carried them in. One of which woke up and said daddy will you lay down with me till I fall asleep. Of course I did. I ended up falling asleep also. Front door open with full glass storm door. Car parked 10 feet from the door. Still in the unlocked car was my wallet and iPod and her purse. Some low life worthless piece of shit just happened to make their way down our county road that night going through cars stealing whatever they could get their hands on from vehicles. Needless to say they made out really good that night because I had quite a bit of cash in my wallet to take my oldest son to get his Christmas gift the next day. When I went out the next morning and I looked in the car seeing my stuff was not in there. Back inside to ask the wife if she got it all out and she said no. Found her purse and my wallet strung across the yard to the road. I can’t explain how I really felt at that moment and for a good while after that. And what if they had come in on me and my family looking for more while we slept. Mind you I’d much rather beat some loser close to death with my fists for stealing MY shit, if it’s 3 am and I’m woke up for thug life then thug life is what they will get. Pistols have their place but my choice would be 12ga and pump enough lead in them that their family and friends wouldn’t be strong enough to carry them to their grave so they would need set in the ground with a crane. It’s not about the STUFF. It’s not ok to be a thieving low life or the snowflakes that defend them.

I’m willing to bet your family went through a lot of different emotional changes after this theft.

What did you do differently besides the obvious of bringing everything inside, no matter when?

Definitely made some changes. One being cameras. Which I highly recommend. And a couple four legged friends that serve as great alarms and would also ruin a would be intruders day. Doesn’t take a pit bull to fill this role. Just a good dog. Also don’t count on your insurance. Some say avoid the confrontation but all depends on the situation and what you can actually see is going on. Calling 911 is important but ultimately nobody cares about your family, you and your property as much as you do.

I believe the use of deadly force should always be a last resort, however, it really depends on where the theft is occurring. If it's outside my home, such as my car parked in the driveway, I would call the police and observe and report until they arrive. As soon as someone enters my home, I am in fear for for my and my families life and I won't be asking why they are there. The only thing they will hear will be my weapon discharging until the threat is eliminated. That being said, you need to be very sure of your target and what's behind your target. I've read too many stories of people shooting family members by accident. Also, if you are going to carry a firearm or even just have one in your home for self defense, I highly recommend extensive firearms training and getting insured by USCCA.

Unless the bad guys stops the good guy first. Then, you have dead good guy and a happy bad guy to continue his ways.

The thing with this argument is that the good guy is almost never trained to handle a situation where he's on a 2 way shooting range. Family man that goes to the range 3 times a month with a ccw isn't going to do shit against has-nothing-to-lose bad guy with a gun. I carry so I can get my family, friends and myself out of a bad situation, not to take down another human. I will not be a sheepdog. I am not military/exmilitary, I am not a pmc contractor, I am not a pipe hitter. Those people do what they do because they have decades of training and experience that no amount of weekend CCW and self defense classes can ever amount to.

A coworker of mine was woken up in middle of night by his wife. She said it sounded like someone is in house. He grabbed a small wooden billy club from the nightstand and went to investigate. Some buzzed up guy had broken the glass out of his front door and come up the stairs to the second floor of this house. Was rummaging through some drawers looking for who knows what. Coworker confronts the dude. Swings at this guy several times with the billy club. Beats the perp about ten times with the club before finally knocking him head over heels down the stairs. The star trip didn't hardly faze him. His wife call 911 and is finally able to retrieve a pistol in the nightstand. When 5-0 arrives, the perp is being held at gun point to his head. The officers recognize the perp by name. Seems they had a disorderly conduct visit earlier in evening with this same gent. All four officers suggested would have best if the home owners had just shot the perp. He had done illegal entry and the home owners lives felt threatened. Just ended up in jail for several months. Maybe Charles Darwin will eventually catch up with this ass hat and render him out

Okay, the way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a well-trained good guy with a gun. I have a feeling that a well-armed good samaritan would have done a better job than that pansy sheriff’s deputy at Parkland.

People like the Coward of Broward are why gun-free zones are a bad idea. If the police won’t do their job, then we have no choice but to protect ourselves!

Yeah that's true. Kind of a sad story because 3 kids died. But if the kids did in fact shoot first, then he had no choice. As many have stated on here, and I agree with. I wouldn't stop shooting just to make sure the next kid had a gun first.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Poor home owner now has to live with this though, as mentioned before in this thread.
