That’s complete BS. I just don’t understand that thinking. Why oh why could that ever be possible. A dog is going to do what it’s supposed to, protect!

    Bizarro World.

Heard of a court case today mandating the state pay for a prisoner's sex change. He is a convicted pedaphile and now identifies as a female. The court agrees with this felon that it is cruel and unusual punishment not to pay for his surgery while in prison.

    WHAT!!!

Hope the home owner got his money's worth! Maybe the intruder had his face ripped up really good.

What kind of shit is that!!!! I don’t understand. Who makes these rules. That’s rewarding them for being in prison! He couldn’t afford it outside.

I guess if I was in prison, getting a sex change to become female, then transferring to a womens prison may be best option. I would rather be some Bitch's Bitch than the alternative......

So he may have called his well trained dog on the intruder more than once, or twice.

It cost him 15,000.00. He also said it was worth every damn penny.

I thought so as well. He did more time healing than jail time, and his dog tore him up pretty good.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
    This^^^^

Defending your life in your home is easiest when you're in it and someone else decides they want in too. Most always, two main factors determine 'justifiable'. (1), fear of life or imminent threat from a rocket surgeon, and/or (2) Said rocket surgeon breaks/crosses the threshold of your home, thereby becoming an intruder.
Additionally, there's several other 'Rules' for effective engagement

1.) Know your states laws - Burden of proof for fear of life/ imminent threat
2.) Know your states laws - Definition of residence (Most always home. Garage, vehicle, other structures on property may/not be considered)
3.) Know your states laws - Magic threshold line (know where/when a rocket surgeon becomes an intruder)
4.) Train like you fight - know your weapon (simple and compromised operation/mechanics [incl. one-handed i.e., if you were shot/injured], clearing jams, dropping mags/reloading quickly)
5.) Train like you fight - know how to shoot from a multitude of positions, angles and lighting (daylight, low-light, night-time) ...The square shouldered-arms out-soft elbow-10 paces-facing straight ahead-this is how you shoot a bad guy, position...is not realistic. Get a realistic target.
6.) Train like you fight - know how to move (with weapon)
7.) Train like you fight - know how to clear your home (rooms, hallways, open space)
8.) Train like you fight - know your safe/cover areas, fatal funnels and how to use them
9.) Train like you fight - know your body and mind (after learning shooting basics, practice shooting with elevated heart-rate to mimic adrenaline rush [few HIT exercises like sprints and handful of burpees work good]
10.) Train like you fought - Get some emergency medicine/TCCC training (know how to save a life as well as you know how to take one)

'All this said... for the asshat you catch breaking into your Tundra...get a bow and some zip-ties. (have a pistol too).
Shoot 'em just above the knee caps (so they can't run away). Once down, hog tie them with zip ties. Call police to come pick up package.

Free "advice" is usually worth what you pay for it.

I'm not going to get into a big back and forth on this and I haven't read any of the replies but I do feel the need to comment on these 2 things and leave it at that...

    Apples

    Oranges

Using force to stop an active crime is not the same thing as using force to stop a fleeing suspect. 2 totally different things and I really have to wonder about any lawyer who would cite that "precedent" as a reason not to confront someone intruding on or stealing your property?

You really lost me with this one. Fuck that noise. Shooting a burglar or robber is only questionable "from a social morality point of view" if we as a society decide to allow that action to be considered questionable.

Look, I get why for a number of reasons the "let them go" approach may seem like legally safer approach but the issue I have with all this is, If the SD community starts preaching this as a standard, all we are doing is empowering the SJW's to criminalize those who choose to stand and fight and I'm not OK with that. That's just another step in the pussification of America.

I can not say definitively what I would or wouldn't do in any given situation but I will not negatively judge a person for defending themselves, their family or their property.

I have two Roombas. One is 7, the other is 10 years old. Lol:rofl:

    Noted.

However, I will never have anything in my house that maps out the interior and sends suggestions to Google for additional sales information.

That must have been very difficult for your buddy. Hopefully he had a decent recovery without many limitations (nobody ever has a 100% recovery after a gunshot wound).

There has been many comments on this thread at why coming out of your house attempting to confront a thief is a poor choice. I’m not sure if your buddy is married/live in GF, but I’m kinda wondering if his doors to the house were locked when he went outside? Were keys in his possession at the time? Could this also turned into a home invasion if a gun was not use (like a bat knocked him out)?

    All good questions...

Pretty sure my phone, PlayStation, tv, and sex robot are already doing that, so not much to lose with a vacuum.

You may be correct. I only own one of your toys....

Wasn’t married at the time he lived alone. But his GF was with him and she’s the one who called the police he was laid out on the floor couldn’t move. He was extremely lucky to be alive and at the end of all of it the robber got away and was never found and his stuff wasn’t recovered either but could have been much worse had the robber decided to turn back towards the house with him down and out.
