Hey guys I would like to upgrade my headunit in my 18 cm. And leave the speakers alone for now. Money really isn't a problem but I don't want anything crazy. And I want it to be plug and play as much it can. So it works with my Toyota current features like USB ports, sat radio and ECT... What do you guys recommend? Plus navigation would be a plus

Upgrading the head unit alone is no problem. You can even keep full steering wheel and dash displays with most aftermarket units.

When I replaced my whole system I only had time to replace the head unit by itself (Kenwood DMX7704). And the speakers another day. But I was actually very surprised at how much the head unit by itself improved sound quality.

Kenwood dnx994s with the maestro module will do wonders! Nav and full steering wheel controls, usb, factory sat antenna, etc. several of us on this site gave them and love them.

Yeah please let us know. Because i’ve searched hi and Lo for how to do this and I can’t find anything. And putting that wiring harness that lets you mirror your iPhone screen on the factory one is not CarPlay. So if you really found a way, let us know!!

You can adjust the angle of the screen so it sits flush with this model.

Very satisfied with the sound improvement with the Phoenix Android Headunit, makes it sound like a platinum should from the factory. I installed a front cam that works great with it. Also found out a few weeks ago that Phoenix now makes a 360 cam package that i will be giving a try.

Yup. Almost every 3 days. It’s a Bluetooth conflict in the software from the info I can find. Mine will restart like twice in a row when this happens, and when it comes back, my nav settings are all at factory default.

    Hate it.

Didn't give my oem head unit a chance to fail, that was one of the first mods to my truck. Just hated that it only sounded great only if you were listening to it in a library.

Do you need to buy anything on top of the DNX994S for it to work or is it drop-it-in and go? I have a 2017 CM with the plus head unit and this scout GOS is flat out an embarrassment.

Also, if I get an OEM premium head unit will it drop, right in and everything work right as if it came from the factory or do you have to have it programmed to the vehicle like they do in GM land?

I just upgraded to the Kenwood DDX9704s, and it's night and day difference from stock. I had one of those garbage android tesla knockoffs, stay far away! I installed everything myself, and it was relatively easy once I paid attention to the right wiring diagram. Just trying to figure out where to run my BT mic now

I ran the BT mic behind the gauge cluster and up the driver a pillar to the visor, works great
