When you change out your head unit a lot of the higher end head units allow hook up with the
Idatalink Maestro. The Idatalink Maestro allows you to map your steering wheel controls but also hooks into other functionality to give you more information about your truck. Here is the things you lose and gain when you change out your head unit.

    Lose
Eco graph. You still have he center console average miles per and the current miles per gallon but you lose the head unit graph which shows a minute by minute MPG graph.

You lose the navigation tab and the music tab in the "heads up display" so you lose the next turn for gps (if you had gps), the
    compass and the current song.
    IMG_0472.jpg
    IMG_0473.jpg
    Gain
You dont really lose the compass. You lose it in your "heads up display" but you still have it in your mirror and will gain it on your head unit depending on the one you have.
    IMG_0474.jpg
Tire Pressure and temperature. Mine is not set correct right now. Left is the front tires and right is the back.
    Battery voltage.
    Door open close
    Drive position
Check engine and if you have a check engine light you can click on it and view whats wrong without having to hook up a check engine reader.

    IMG_0475.jpg

Gauge info MPH, RPM, Fuel level, Intake temperature and load.

Hmmmm....on my install I was able to keep Everything. Wonder if it’s due to the model of headunit? I have the Kenwood DNX994S803D4382-84FA-4B17-A0F4-DAB9F633D17B.jpgC64253D5-F3E6-4AB4-BBF2-84208E6854FF.jpgE46A0990-1C20-4E37-87CA-0813023F7B4E.jpg
When I don’t use apple CarPlay whatever is playing is shown on the center display

Nice. Thanks for sharing. I want an aftermarket radio for this reason. Is the obc connection tapped or do they make a pnp connector?

I believe its plugged into the OBD. Can be easily unplugged for any kind of code troubleshooting/diagnostic work at the dealer and then simply plugged back in.

strange. I have the same head unit. The mpg that you show is the one that's there. Its the graph that was on the head unit that of course is not there. I will have to see why i dont have those 2 things.

Oh gotcha....I forgot about that other graph on the headunit...was thinking center display. I know that my installer had to remap some of the buttons. When it was first hooked up the steering wheel controls would only work if the center display was on the radio display....a few minutes later he had it corrected and all working the way it did from the factory.

The maestro module is a great product....now I'm curious about my tire pressures as well. How did you go about finding out which tire is which on the display?

I compared it to the one in the center console.

I have to go back to get my front camera fixed and they do wheels and tires so im going to have them fix it when i do that. They have to deflate the tires and re pump them up to set them up correct

Just double checked. Those screens are blank. Not sure why you have them and I don’t. Are you hooked to the factory amp at all?

I believe I am still running the rears off the factory amp. My guess is something in the maestro module isn’t set to display that....should be an easy fix for whoever programmed your maestro

I wonder if any of that is coming from the factory amp. I bypass the factory amp totally and the only setting that is not checked is factory amp in the set up.

We tried to use the sto2 also which uses the factory gps antenna but it did not work so yes the 2 things you listed are needed.

I’m getting mine (DNX994S) install in couple weeks.
So the st02 won’t work with our xm radio antenna? I’m sure a member here used the st02 on he’s sr5 and it worked.

As @Vendeta2k said compass and audio tab works and is now working on my truck.

So all you lose is the minute by minute eco graph that was on the old head unit and the mantence reminder on the head unit. I have not reach an interval yet to know if it will still show in the heads up display.

was it just a matter of making sure the right firmware is installed on the Maestro RR?

The first time they installed it they could not get the st02 to work. Now they did and for some reason the audio screen needs hook up to the factory gps antenna.

Checked on the way home. You also retain turn by turn nav in the center console.

@ninjajay did you end up needing the st02 with the 4200nex? I am in the process of installing my 4200nex and wasn't sure if I needed that or not.

Did you keep all the center console screens?

You dont need the STO2 unless you want to keep everything and use the factory GPS and XM antenna.
