Just passing on that ICS is backordered on their arms. They said about 4 weeks right now.

There are a ton of other manufacturers. Amazon has quite a few RAM knock offs. The tackform are all aluminum if that's what you want, are highly reviewed and cheaper than the ICS

Thanks. I have been meaning to look at the tackforms.

not sure if Melissa reads this forum but I really don't like the updated plate. I've bought tons of stuff from Rago in the past, but I just couldn't get into this design. Simplifying the logo and maximizing utility should be an update, not the reverse.

    Not sure at this point.
I'm not sure where you guys are going at it with the plate.

If we compare side by side the two, the major differences are the logo and you lose 2 slits. How much more adjustment do you need from the extra 2 slits where now sits the logo?

I'm sure the revamping is due to R&D and that those extra 2 slits really did not make any difference in adjustments.

I can't remember the exact dimension, but long enough to get my phone to the front of the dash where I can touch it.

@Marvthehamster what did you ever come up with on the led? I powered mine up today. The blue isn't bad on the dash, but I did see the reflection on the windshield. Also reading through the thread, the "universal bolt pattern" is what the AMPS identification is. I just mentioned it for others when they are adding the plate and ordering mounts. Now if I can just get my tiny arms in that are backorder.

I actually haven't done anything with that LED yet. It does emit light up through/around the cutout for the usb plug but it's fairly minimal. I don't drive at night very often, but it's a total non issue during the day. I'll probably be out driving at night this weekend and will know better if I need to disable it.

Hey, I thought I saw a hardware list that someone included w/their post for some longer hardware pieces when pairing the Rago w/an ICS backplate, but I'm not finding it...

Was I smokin' dope on that, or does anyone else remember seeing that somewhere??

I believe somewhere someone mentioned the necessity (or perhaps just advisability) of longer screws than what Rago provides. I installed my ICS plate and Rago mount with the standard Rago screws no problem. There weren't any extra threads showing once I tightened everything down but the lock nuts were fully engaged on the screws.

Ok, perfect; that's really all I need!!!! I'm going to be doing the front camera at the same time and needed to make a stop at the hardware store to piece a couple of things together, but just wanted to do everything in one trip.

    Thank you :hattip:

My install was the same. The bolts that came with it were fine. I drilled in the circled area for the USB power to feed through instead of drilling through the ICS plate. Another note....use one of the attachment screws to run through each hole to clean up the threads a little.

    Make sense.... thanks!!!

I do like the idea of the cable running from behind the plate (closer to the windshield) better than the examples I've seen such as off to the side or forward of the plate. Good call!

Last question... I noticed that you and tundra234 both went with 4 mounting screws to secure the rago mount to the ICS plate. It looks like he used the holes in the ICS plate and drilled into the Rago and it looks like you used the original Rago holes and drilled into the ICS....

I'd prefer to not drill the Rago plate and just tap the ICS as you did, but I saw a couple of posts in the original Rago thread where guys drilled both and ran 6 mounting screws to secure the unit (adding 2 at the bottom of the mount) which leads to my question. Are you finding the plate provides sufficient support to remain stable and minimize vibration w/just the 4 bolts or have you found reason to think that by adding 2 more bolts to the lower part of the plate it would be more secure or have less vibration???

I tend to think that the 4 will be enough and that the attachments, arms, etc. will be a source of vibration long before the connection between the mount and plate using the 4 bolts :notsure:

That's weird, because in yours it looks like you've got 2 bolts going through the bottom (tapered) part of the mount. My Rago mount does not have any holes there.... Anyhow, my concern was the bottom part of the plate only having the one center hole and nothing on the lower half toward the outside of plate (where you have what looks like hexhead screws sticking up) :notsure:

I think 6 bolts is total overkill. 4 is plenty. There’s a bit of inherent wobble no matter how many plates or bolts you use due to the fact that the dash is like 3/16” thick plastic. I honestly wonder just how much stability the ICS plate provides over the fender washers that Rago provides.

I’m still really liking the whole system, though. I got some short, black usb cables for charging phones. This keeps things pretty neat on the dash.

Stubby arms. I like the length. I think these are 12” USB’s, just long enough to plug into the phone when it’s in the mount and not kink the hell out of the cord.

I wasn't paying attention and ended up with the "Rago" version as well. I don't advertise for folks so this was not an option. The R on the version I thought I was going to get was enough and though I could live with it...."Rago" is out of the question.

See image for what I came up with. It's a 2 inch wide piece of stainless trim from Amazon. We'll see if I can stand it or if I quit noticing all together. I think it matches the dash trim fairly well. I should have wiped the finger prints off for the pic but that's OK.

Yeah....that was my initial plan but thought I'd let the stainless ride for a bit.

It's definitely better than reading "Rago" every 30 seconds which I know my brain/eyes would do.

I don't see the point of hiding the logo - we advertise every single day for products that we purchase. We purchase them for a reason - usually because they are what we like, are functional, high quality ,etc.....In this case, the rago dash mount is high quality, very functional and you wouldn't have bought it if you didn't like it. This is like pulling off the nike swooshes on your sneakers. If you "don't want to advertise" for companies, why buy it in the first place. If the answer is similar to any of the ones listed, why have an aversion to supporting a vendor that makes a quality product? to each his own, but doesn't make sense to me to spend time, money and effort to cover up something like this
