Still in the market... apparently I am too fussy about color, price, and features.

    Looking for some feedback.

Interested in a '21 Tundra CrewMax 4WD SR5. Has around 37K miles, no accidents, originally a fleet vehicle in Canada (only 2 service records). Adds in leather and sunroof, both options I would like (basically a limited with SR5 badge).

Monroney sticker shows price of $43165. Asking price now is roughly $700 less than original. Wondering if 2 years of use align with 37K miles of driving worth this price. Have not asked about wiggle room with price, as quote was delivered late. Not in any rush so wondering people's opinions.

One other note - went back and looked at bottom line. Usually plan 10% markup for taxes/fees but they have this at 15%. Will try to do some haggling next week but also ready to walk away, as it seems priced high. Only reason I am even considering is because of vehicle having mostly everything I wanted...except the price tag.

I would never again buy a vehicle without radar cruise. I use it frequently and love it.

Im the opposite, I hate radar cruise on every vehicle I have driven that have it.

2018 up will have more nannies and the newer models do not have a trans cooler. 2016/17 has no TSS stuff, and had trans cooler.

Dont get hung up on Trims, basically they are all the same truck and you can add to an Sr5 to get features you want.

Aftermarket leather will be better than what comes in the limited.

I prefer my 2020 over my 2015. The newer tech is just that more convenient to me.

I prefer the nannies. Buy a SR5 Sport. Color matching (no chrome), led headlights, nannies, no leather. Upgrade with Katz.

    I own a 2019 Sport. It's perfect IMO.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I have a 2018 and I believe it is the unicorn year.

It’s the last year with a transmission cooler, and the first year to have adaptive cruise and pre-collision protection. I waited for 18 so I could get the adaptive cruise, and mine has always worked as intended. I wish it would crawl in traffic like some competitors.

18 SR5 also had an upgrade package that included LEDs and the 38gal tank. Offroad gave me more desirable 18” wheels (which I PC’d black).

At the time of purchase I had written dealer-installed leather seats into the deal.

They wanted $4500 for a Katzkin installation. I used my refusal to pay that to help get the overall price of the truck below $40k. Within a year I had installed the same Katzkin kit into my truck for $550.

For ME, the 2018 is the way to go.

As @frichco228 stated the Limited leather isn't all that special.
I had leather added to my 2014 SR5 when I bought it and that is what they put in it.
The piping started flaking apart where I got in and out of the seat.
3 years later I put Katzkins on the front seats, no one sits in the back seat.

If dual-zone climate control is important, you'll need to go for the Limited or higher.
That cannot be upgraded from an SR5.
I never thought much about it, but had it in a recent rental.
It was nice because my wife is either too hot or cold, although she really isn't in my truck that much.

If seat heaters are important, go with the limited.
But I added my own to my SR5.

If you have any intention of upgrading the audio, a non-JBL system is easier to upgrade.
If you replace the HU in your upgrade, it doesn't matter that much.

I don't really care that much for the adaptive cruise control.
I don't mind paying attention to what is in front of me.
I have in my work tractors and don't really care for it..

I've added a lot of stuff to my 2014 SR5 over the years.
    Seat heaters
    Puddle lights
    Mirror turn signals
All interior and exterior LED lights
    TRD Pro LED headlights
    Everything in the audio
    Amp steps
    And more..

I was in the same boat. ended up going with the sr5 and upgrades seats & Headlights. Lots of folks complain about the limited leather seats. Most prefer the sr5 seats and improving them with aftermarket leather (katskinz, etc). I didnt want a sunroof and didn't care about dual climate. (you'll have that with the limited). Also with an sr5 you can get a ($100-150 ?? I cant remember) drop-in, plug n play switch to give your truck auto up/down for all 4 windows. Limited only does front 2, and isn't compatible (at the moment) with this switch. tech-y unnecessary feature, but I like having it. less chance of a JBL stereo in the SR5 too, which to my understanding (and my experience with swapping factory HU's) makes it cheaper to upgrade if you want that kind of thing. I'm kind of torn on the adaptive cruise control. On lonely (not empty) highways, it's great - on busier ones, I find I just turn it off when I would have used traditional CC and just maneuvered as necessary.

FYI - you can use radar cruise either with the radar or without (as in traditional cruise control). It lets you select between the two modes.

I only know radar cruise from driving a Q5, where it seems well implemented. What is your dislike for it?
Was all set to get an SR5 but by the time I looked at leather, Limited headlights and taillights, I was at the same price.
Not looking past the Limited as rest will be wasted on me.

Thanks!!! This is what I was looking for. Deciding between '16/'17 and '18+.

It says you went TRD Sport. Mind my asking why you chose that option?

What is it that you do not like about the radar cruise control? And are you able to shut it off, if not wanting to use it?

That is a fairly easy upgrade, for around $750. Headlights are definitely nice!!!

For a bit more you can have a 21 TSS On Road with very little miles with all sorts of OEM upgrades and other STUFF :)including leather heated and fan seats, Katzkin of course. You should find a decent truck for that. Best of luck! Problem is they do not make the V8s anymore, and for me if I get rid of the truck????? I would purchase a car just because they don’t make the V8 and I could never get lucky on buying something used??

Had been looking at '18 for the same reason but seems like pretty easy to add a trans cooler, if needed.
Which package offers the LED headlights on SR5??? Also like the SR5 as I am one of those weirdos who prefer 18" tires for everyday driving... Dual-climate is nice and do enjoy sunroof in my car but afraid I am just wasting money with this vehicle, if I go that route.

Did you install the Katzkins yourself?

Did not know TSS did Katzkins!!! Have only seen 1 older model around me. Usually using a car shopping app. 1/2 the time, cannot even look for TSS vehicles because of how dealerships list them. Struggle to even find TRD...
In the same boat until I drove some of these newer V6 vehicles. Miss the throaty sound but faster AND torquier...personally, i
would go to a 250/2500, as opposed to going back to a car, I'd stuck on not buying a V6. Not a Ford fan but the Godzilla motor is pretty powerful.

Dual climate is nice but not a deal breaker. Heated seats are nice but hears you could do them with Katzkins.
Are there any functions lost by replacing the HU. Intent would be to replace it, unless it has Android Auto.
Those amp steps are nice though I think I will be going with a roller. Why did you go with TRD Pro LED over Limited?

Yes, the heaters are a pretty easy install, especially if you're pulling everything off for the Katzkins.
I tapped into the 12v sockets for power.
I actually added the seat heaters for my wife.
But found myself using them a lot more than I thought I would.

I didn't lose any using an iData Maestro, but I have a 2014.
In the later years, the Entune (OEM) HUs controlled more stuff.
I have to have wireless Carplay.
I'd like to upgrade my HU to a bigger screen, but I need to save up for it.

If you do upgrade the HU, these are a couple of very helpful threads.

I only bought the AMP steps for the 5' wife too.
Even with a 2.5" lift, I don't even use them, I step over them to get in the truck.
They drop lower than the OEM tubes I had, she likes them.

The TRD Pro LED headlights are blacked out.
I'm dead set on getting rid of the chrome when I can.
Still need to do the bumper ends.

My1794 had the blacked out LED headlights stock, but the bulk of the rest of the front was chrome, and it was too much for my tastes.

One thing I do like about these trucks is how easy it is to make them our own. I'm not big into modding, but I've enjoyed myself thus far. I de-chromed the front, added the bed step, added a transmission cooler, and put on towing mirrors. I pretty much have it just how I want it now.

I have a bed step in the garage I got for Xmas.
Just got the truck back in July.
A lot of people say they help, do you find it helpful to get in the bed?

Honestly, one of my favorite mods. I use it all of the time. I use my truck as a truck, so I am always getting in and out of the bed to load it and unload it. There was no easy way before, and now it's super simple. I highly recommend it. At the risk of sounding old, it is saving my knees. :D

I do not like radar cruise at all. It feels like it overreacts to my settings, and I can get much better fuel economy just looking well ahead and easing into or out of the throttle as needed.

I do like CarPlay and dual climate. Those came on my SR5 as part of the TRD Off Road package. If I had leather, I would want heated and cooled seats. My cloth seats are never too hot nor too cold, though.

Agreed with those who have said these trucks are far more alike than different. You should decide if you need the things that can’t be upgraded, or would at least be difficult to do so like blind spot monitoring or parking sensors in the bumpers.

I will say, in the Q5 it is not quite as bad as some recent rentals...seems like brakes are SLAMMED instead of gradual reductions. Guessing that is the experience you are having?
I LIKE dual climate but not a deal breaker. If priced close enough to an SR5, I would consider the limited (and still change out seat covers).

Did your TRD come with LED fog and headlights (saw a 2019 SR5 TRD today with LED lights. Maybe a Pro?)
In 2016, most of those things became standard, correct? Biggest change with '18 seemed to be adaptive cruise control, '19 lost trans cooler, and '20 gained push to start (seemingly only on Limited and up, unless I missed something).
What year did they start adding Apple Play/Android Auto? Do not mind changing out my HU, as long as I do not lose functions.

Guessing '20 was when Carplay was added?
