You're saying you "can not recommend buying all your audio upgrades" from James or did you mean to say you "can recommend buying"??

Just got off the phone with James at Tech12volts. I'm going for the full speaker set, DSR1 and 5 channel amp. Talk about no BS. James is straight up. I've found so much mis-information about "tried fixes" on the web and am totally confident that this is the way to go. Lose the crap amp, keep the Entune HU, change out all speakers and add power to your new subwoofer. DIY and save big. A great deal considering all the other options out there for plug and play while tearing your truck apart. James' solution requires minimal cab intrusion and he tells me the difference will be night and day. Cheers.

    Question:

While I know these are higher quality speakers, at the end of the day, how does this solve the vibrating door panel/too much bass issue? The system will still be sending full signal to the mid bass driver and so I expect it to be overdriven just like the stock speaker is since it does not have a crossover on the mid bass driver.

    Thoughts?

Cross over is built into the JBL amp.
Vibrations can be fixed with some sound deadening material on the doors and panel.

The stock dash speakers are 3.5".
He replaces the right and left with 2 options, either new 3.5" speakers or a single 1 inch tweeter. His replacement for the center is 2 JL audio tweeters.

These speakers, doors and dash, will also be an upgrade for non JBL systems.
An amp would be ideal but is not required.
The speakers are a pretty simple self install. If you want an amp that's obviously more complicated and expensive

    TEXAS!
what did both of you end up with? and cost?

looking at tech12volts website, and i see an image dynamics complete package, a kenwood complete package, and a jbl complete package.

did either of you "start" with the toyota jbl "premium" system

fyi: i did by the sub upgrade through the recent GB that pudge worked for us. received monday, 28th, will install saturday, the 2nd. think that may only be the beginning for me and considering more upgrades.

Any recommendations on sound deadoning material? I’ve used dynamat in the past, but it’s pricey. Looking at Kilmat...

    The Dirty T ( ^_^)_且

I'm not sure about the JBL system, but on the standard system and the non-JBL nav system the front and rear door speakers are powered by the stock amp. The dash speakers are powered by the HU alone. Thus, when you replace the stock amp with either a 4 or 5 channel amp the dash speakers are unaffected and still powered by the HU.

So which left/right setup is included in the deal? I thought it was the center tweeters and then 3.5"s for left/right.

Left/right dash setup. @Pudge mentioned tweeters in all positions and 3.5" on the outer positions.
