Thanks for the response James. I don’t have your amp setup. I have a JL HD600/4. What gain should I set on Front/rear speakers on the DSR1? I tried to set the gains all the way down last week and still hear the noise. Seems like it didn’t make a difference from -3db down to all the way down. Anyway to disable the Bluetooth module? I was thinking that the HU and or DSR1 are not grounded properly to cause the noise; haven’t gotten to test that thought out.

Thank you for clarifying. Here’s what I got. Same setting per your instructions. I marked all the dials with a small white dot to know exactly where it’s set.

Finally installed my amp, along with the new head unit, last night. Only had to text James a few dozen times... thanks @james@tech12volts for all your help!

It sounds much better than the stock head unit... really wakes up all of the speakers and the sub.

Had my dash and door speakers installed, all wiring soldered, Hush Mat sound deadening for all four doors. I can notice a clearer or crisper sound, and no longer have to turn the volume all the way up with a window open. It is better than the stock speakers. I appreciate James putting together the GB. Also appreciate everyone sharing their install experiences which convinced me hiring a professional was the least expensive option in the long run.

Got everything installed over the weekend. Only problem is now when I lock the doors instead of 1 beep I get 2 beeps and the doors try to lock a second time. Anybody have a similar experience or have a clue what went wrong?

I don't have a 19, but it may be in your settings found in your radio. Maybe unplugging for so long something reset?

Speaker and tweeter red to positive and black to negative. I drilled a hole in the rear door panel for the tweeter. I mounted front tweeter in the 6.5 front speaker adapter. Kinda wish i surface mounted like rears.

Thanks for the response. So I just tap into the front tweeters to the factory front speaker wire? And I guess same goes for the rear?

Got the sail panels from James for the front tweeters. Went back and read all 27 pages and found how to wire the rear tweeters. Thanks for all the posts and response!

Took a trip today to see James @james@tech12volts and have the goods installed by the master! I added two JL 10” subs to the group buys and this system KICKS ASS!!!! I was expecting a big difference but this totally blew me away!! James and his crew are hands down the best. Honest, hard working dudes that are focused on customerservice. They answered all my questions and made sure I was completely satisfied before I drove away.

A HUGE Thank You to James and crew for the great deal and even better customer service!!

Finally picked up the speakers from my NY mailbox. Blacked the frames and waiting for sound deadening from Amazon.

    EA2D0E74-62E8-4A7F-921B-A96AB1C35BDB.jpg

Should I make the effort to cut holes in the front nonJBL sails, or do what 8MINT8 did and put them in the frame? I bought the dash speakers too so I’m not sure it’s better to have physical separation between the highs, or to have the Hertz tweeters closer to my ears in the sails?

Flush mount them. If I could redo, I would put them on the front door speaker grill. Highs are reduced being behind the panel. The sail panels are a good choice too. I still feel there is enough mids and highs coming from the dash.

TC long travel. Deaver 420 SU leaf packs.
Finally got around to installing sound deadening, sub, door speakers and tweets. It's sounding much better and I actually felt bass in the back of my seat. I haven't installed the dash speakers yet but right now the dash seems to be overwhelming the new Hertz speakers?
Any pics of how to remove the dash grilles? TIA

Thank you, I didn't realized they would be that sensitive, guess I'll get a hole saw and do a flush on the sails.

Just did all the dash. First comment true for me. Deadening comes tomorrow, if second comment applies too, I’ll be...

I don’t think I would notice as much with the stock HU, definitely upgrade that too!

You will like the door speakers too. Deadoning can suck. I did inner and outer doors with 36sqft of Noico 80mil and needed more for the last door. I had a sheet of Soundskin i got from James for the rear wall i never used so i used it on the outer of the last door. Installing Noico sucks compared to the Soundskin. Make sure to wear gloves and a crappy long sleeve shirt if doing the inner doors. Its its metal slicing heaven in there!

Made my own, Milwaukee burr-free 1.5” hole saw, lined the ring circumference and secured with Noico tar from sound matting. Noico triangle piece was also placed behind the sail.

The AMP made an incredible difference, the dash exploded into amazing sounds.

Tough call, if only I wanted to spend the funds towards a proper amp and enclosed sub. The Android HU’s extra punch over stock skewed my desire to push it further. I’m finding lots of brightness and clarity out of my dash, and doors for that matter, at least for my highs/mids standards, not a serious audiophile here. The HU has sub out and maybe a cheap powered 10 behind the rear seats will do, then I think I’m done. No doubt you guys who amp’d it all the right way have incredible sound. That said, maybe I’ll get accustomed to a new normal and crave, just doesn’t seem like it right now.

So I’m just starting the install process. I’m going to start with the dash speakers because they look the easiest. For the center speaker, should I assume the crossovers, circular plastic parts, and most of the hardware is not required for this installation or does it need to be installed? I didn’t see anyone mention this. A88ADF2A-01D0-420D-A4B9-DE990EF8EC5A.jpg
